In this last study in the book of Jonah,
Dr. Mitchell brings out the Gospel of
the Grace of God as exemplified in the
life of the prophet Jonah himself.
Dr. Mitchell looks at the practical side
of the gospel in chapters 2 and 3 as it
applies to you and me.
He brings attention to the matter
of prayer. Just as Jonah prayed, do we
really mean business with God? Are we
serious in our prayer? Jonah was.
Then, Dr. Mitchell states that out of
prayer came faith and out of faith came
deliverance.
God recommissioned Jonah after his
deliverance. God brought Him back to
where he had failed inorder to
serve the Lord again.

We continue in the book of Jonah,
chapter 3.
In this chapter, the gospel is pictured
in those who believed God, e.g., they
believed God’s message, God’s word.
The people of Nineveh, from top to
the bottom, actually believed that what
God said He would do, He would in fact
do it.
Do we in fact, actually believe what God
has said in the gospel that if we trust
in Christ, He will deliver us from sin,
hell, death, the world, the flesh
and the devil? His word has never once
failed and never will fail. So can we
trust Him. Yes! God, being infinitely
faithful, never fails and He is worthy
of our obedience of faith.

The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues our study in chapter 2 of the book Jonah.
We have been looking at the gospel aspects found in the book of Jonah.
Dr. Mitchell brings to our attention the fact that Gospel seems unreasonable from a merely human viewpoint.
However, have you ever considered looking at the gospel from God’s point of view? God has a holy righteous character which must be dealt with in view of man’s sin. Could He do that? Yes. He has dealt with man’s sin and at the same time, vindicated His own holy character. Romans 3:24-26
When and where did this happen? At the cross and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is God’s provision for you and me in the midst of this crooked and perverse world.
Can you believe Him? Yes you can.

Having heard of the prophetic aspects of
the book of Jonah, we will now take a
look at the gospel aspects of this book.
The book of Jonah portrays the gospel of
God, the gospel of the grace of God,
the Gospel of Christ.

As Dr. Mitchell outlines it, he has in
Chapter 1, salvation is not by works.
Chapter 2, salvation is not by religious
rites or ceremonies.
Chapter 3, salvation is by believing
God.
Dr. Mitchell brings this to the
forefront by sharing verses from the
N.T. books of John and Romans.
The gentile sailors obeyed the word of
God and they were saved from the storm.
They believed in the Living God.

Jonah as Dr. Mitchell declares the

Jonah the prophet.

April 04, 2022 Book of Jonah - Jonah 2-3 - Prog 09
In our study in the book of Jonah, Dr.
Mitchell looks at the resurrection as it
applies to both the nation of Israel and
to the person of our savior, the Lord
Jesus Christ.
We find in the last verse of Jonah
chapter 2 that Jonah is delivered out
of the mouth the great fish up onto the
dry land - resurrection!

Now in Jonah 3, Jonah is recommissioned
to preach God’s word to Nineveh.
Likewise, in this chapter, Dr. Mitchell
directs our hearts to the risen Christ
who is the message for gentiles.
He states, “Life, power and deliverance
from the judgment of God is through the
risen Christ, His physical
resurrection.” Can you say the Lord
Jesus is the focus of your faith?

April 01, 2022 Book of Jonah - Death and Burial Prophecy - Chapters 1-3 - Prog 08
Dr. Mitchell reminds us of the 3 things that
are pictured here in the book of Jonah which are
the people of Israel, the Lord Jesus, and the
gospel. These are presented in the form of a
type. A “type” is a mold, an example or pattern.
Here Jonah becomes a type, both, of Christ and
the nation of Israel as Dr. Mitchell explains.
Jonah, swallowed by the great fish, brought
salvation to the gentile sailors. He becomes a
type of Jesus’ death which brought salvation to
the gentiles who believe in and trust Christ.
Our Lord makes mention of this in Matthew
12:39-41 where Jonah is a sign to the Jews of
the period of time the savior would be in the
heart of the earth.
Dr. Mitchell shows Jesus Christ in Jonah.

March 31, 2022 Book of Jonah - Chapter 4 - Prog 07
Our study continues in the book of Jonah,
chapter 4.
As chapter 4 opens, we find Jonah very
displeased with the situation in which God did
not judge Nineveh. Of course he gives God a
reason for his displeasure.
God now has to deal with his servant Jonah on a
personal level. Jonah seems to have had a death
wish because he was so angry that his prophecy
did not come true. God had compassion on Nineveh
who repented at the Word of God. This is what
caused Jonah to become angry.
Dr. Mitchell points our hearts to the Lord Jesus
Christ and His salvation as being the focus of
our circumstances. He can and does have great
compassion on each of us in whatever situation
we are in.

March 30, 2022 Book of Jonah - Chapter 3 - Prog 06
Jonah chapter 3 will be the focus of our study
in this lesson. Just as Jonah was recommissioned
to be a witness to the gentiles, we will hear of
Israel being recommissioned again.
This will occur when the times of the gentiles
has been fulfilled.
Have your Bible ready as we hear several
scriptures which prophesy the restoration of the
nation of Israel. Dr. Mitchell begins with Dt.
30 then Jeremiah 23:3-8, followed by Ezekiel 37
concerning the valley of dry bones.
Dr. Mitchell gives us Hosea 5:15 as an answer as
to when the Lord Himself said He would come back
for Israel. It will be when the Jewish people
say, “Blessed is He that comes in the name of
LORD” the Lord will deliver them from their
great tribulation.

The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast explores Jonah
chapters 2 and 3 in this study.
Chapter 2 is a picture of Israel in the person of
Jonah as being one who for all practical purposes
was dead, and out of commission.
Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that like Jonah
who was not digested, the Jewish people have not
been assimilated into the nations of the earth.
The are still a very distinct people separate
from the peoples of the world. They have still
retained their identity as a nation.
Dr. Mitchell will give us understanding how far
the Jewish people have been scattered among the
nations.
Then in Chapter 3, we see Jonah recommissioned
to continue to Nineveh and preach judgment
to that city. So, likewise, the nation of God
will recommission Israel to be a witness.

Our study in the book of Jonah the
Old Testament prophet to the gentile city
of Nineveh continues. We will hear a short
overview from Dr. Mitchell.
From a practical viewpoint, our teacher shows
us that the servant of God, Jonah, had to be
rebuked by the gentile and unbelieving
sailors to call upon his God during the storm
on the sea. They were quite afraid of what
God was doing with the sea but Jonah was
unconcerned for these men.
How are you and I doing? Are we concerned for
those around us as their salvation?
Our study next proceeds to the nation of
Israel as to their primary purpose to be a
witness to the nations, even as Jonah was to
be to the city of Nineveh.
