On the ⁠Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast Ambassador ⁠Weekend review with our teacher Dr. John G. Mitchell we continue in the book of Luke. We'll be at two themes, prayer and the filling of the Holy Spirit in this 18th installment of the Gospels review.

Let's join Dr. Mitchell now as he continues his overview of the book of Luke to take a look at Jesus our Savior who, being filled with the Holy Spirit, walked in perfect fellowship with His Father.

In Hebrews 13:17, We are exhorted to obey our leaders who spoke the word of God to us. They guide and equip the saints for ministry. And they,too, will give an account to God for their ministry.

The author of Hebrews then points the reader and listener to the God of Peace. He declares that the God of Peace brought up from the dead, that Great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is resurrected and is alive even now!

Does this not remind us of how God answered Jesus' prayer in Heb. 5:7. The God of peace did just what for our Lord Jesus Christ prayed by raising Him from out of the dead. He will do so for us as well who believe and trust in Him alone.

Let's open our Bible to Hebrews 13:17 as we conclude the book of Hebrews with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.

We begin now with Hebrews 13:15 where Dr. Mitchell presents what we as believers in Christ do. We offer up the sacrifice of Praise to God. This is stated as being the "fruit of lips" that give thanks to His name.

A second activity has to do with doing good and sharing. This too is a sacrifice and it is pleasing to God.

It is to be understood that doing these things does not save us, for we are saved by grace though faith, and God who created us in Christ Jesus purposed that we should walk in good works which He has set forth for the believer ahead of time. Eph.2:8-10

Let's open our Bibles to Hebrews 13:15-16 where Dr. Mitchell says, these verses show that love sacrifices, both in good and bad times.

On our ongoing study in Hebrews, we are currently looking at verses 8 thru 14.

In these verses, Dr. Mitchell reminds us to examine doctrines by the place they give to the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. Questions concerning whether they believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.

Likewise, where is the work of Christ on the cross with His shed blood? Is this part of one's teaching?

And corresponding to this, what is said about the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead? Or is it even mentioned?

We are exhorted to test the spirits as to what is spoken of the Person of Christ. Does it agree with what God has spoken in the Word of God, the Scriptures?

By this one can discern the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Dr. Mitchell exhorts us to make the Person and Work of Christ the center of one's faith and one's love.

Let's turn to Hebrews 13:8 to begin this lesson on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.

Love is exemplified in each of the following verses of Hebrews 13:4-8.

Dr. Mitchell explores vs 4 which speaks of living a pure life with regard to marriage. Marriage is to be held in honor among all. This even includes one's inner thinking as well as outer actions. Love thinks no evil.

In verse 5, we are strongly exhorted to keep one's life free from covetousness.

Dr. Mitchell reminds us that covetousness is actually idolatry. God Himself will never ever leave you or forsake you. He will supply all our needs.

Love is occupied with the Person and Work of Christ. In verse 7-8 we are encouraged to remember those who spoke the word of God to us and how their life reflects their teaching. One is to imitate their faith.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever in His person, His character, and His love toward us, but His method of operation changes in different periods of time. Dr. Mitchell explains.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Heb.13:4.

The Unchanging Word Bible study begins this lesson in Hebrews 13:01-03. The author of Hebrews presents an imperative command to "Let love of the brethren continue." Dr. Mitchell directs our attention to Jesus and His words concerning love.

Jesus demonstrated His love for Mary and Martha in John 11.

Dr. Mitchell states that God does not want you to compromise truth, but to love the brethren.

He next goes on to the need for hospitality towards God's people. There may be a blessing in entertaining a messenger with a divine message. Abraham is presented as an example of hospitality in Genesis 18.

We are next exhorted to remember them who are in bonds or prison and those who are suffering. These need prayer and if possible encouragements and support.

Let's join Dr. Mitchell in Hebrews 13:1 as this chapter deals with practical living for the Christian life.

Let's join Dr. Mitchell now as he continues his overview of the book of Luke in chapters 8-14-19 to take a look at Jesus our Savior, who seeks and saves sinners and casts out demons.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast. We will be studying Hebrews 12:25-29.

In this passage, we are presented with a God who will be shaking, not only the earth, but also the heavens. The scripture says God will speak with His voice.

Dr. Mitchell brings out how in verse 26 these words are the assurance of God's judgment. The author of Hebrews is quoting these words from the O.T. prophet of Haggai 2:6.

And the encouragement we are presented with is that believers in Christ cannot be shaken and will received a kingdom which also cannot be shaken. It alone will remain when all is said and done.

So we are exhorted to receive grace for serving God in the mean time with reverence and godly fear for our God is a consuming fire.

Dr.Mitchell will lead us through this passage, so let's turn to Hebrews 12:25 as we begin.

Our study in this lesson shows the difference between the old covenant of the law compared to the grace of God provided by Jesus at the cross with His blood of the new covenant.

Dr. Mitchell brings to our attention that no one can be saved by keeping the law. He points out that only one man ever perfectly and sinlessly kept the whole law. That was Jesus Christ. And now that Christ has come as our savior from the law, we don't need the law. We now are saved by grace through faith. This salvation by grace through faith is all from God, both as to it's means and it's result.

In contrast to Mt. Sinai is Mt. Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem. Dr. Mitchell reads the 8 things in verses 22-24 to which the believer has now come by grace.

Let's open our Bible to Hebrews 12:18 on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.

Welcome to the Hebrews study on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.

Turning to Hebrews 12:15, Dr. Mitchell will be looking at a few verses dealing with the failure of not receiving the grace of God.

Doing so can lead to a bitter spirit. There is a danger of such a spirit spreading abroad and affecting others.

The author of Hebrews then gives us an example of one who had such a spirit.

Dr. Mitchell shares with us the background of Esau, the brother of Jacob. He is presented as one who was indifferent to God's purpose for his life. Dr. Mitchell explains the word, "profane" as written in the KJV describing Esau. The meaning is different to what one may understand it's meaning today.
