The Unchanging Word continues our study in Hebrews 11 at verse 17.

In this study, Dr. Mitchell shares how Abraham trusted God in what seemed like an impossible situation.

God had fulfilled His promise to Abraham to give him a son. But now God wanted him to offer up his only begotten son, Isaac.

This foreshadows what God Himself would go through with His Son in the centuries to come. And what did God do with His only begotten Son? He raised His crucified Son from the dead. This is a foundational truth of the Christian faith. Jesus is now alive and it is possible and desirable to have a relationship with Him even today.

Next, Dr. Mitchell explains how Joseph, in Egypt, believed God's promise to provide the sons of Israel with their own land.

With that faith, Joseph instructed the sons of Israel to bury his bones in the land of Israel after they left Egypt.

And they did, over 425 years later. Joshua 24:32

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Hebrews 11:17-22.

In Hebrews 11:11-16 we will see how Sarah the wife of Abraham, considered God to be faithful to His promise.

Now what promise had God made to both Abraham and Sarah? God promised them a son, even in their old age. Abraham was 99 years of age and Sarah was 89.

Dr. Mitchell points out that they both had to believe God to fulfill His promise for a son. It wasn't one-sided. They both heard the Word of God, and they both were ersuaded it was the Word of God, but then they both embraced the Word of God as their own and God honored their faith in Him.

It is written that God is not ashamed to be called their God because we do believe in His heavenly calling.

We are asked, Do we know Him whom we believe? What do you say?

Here is Dr. Mitchell who shares with us the truth found in Hebrews 11:11-16 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Continuing in the study of the book of Hebrews we now turn to chapter 11 beginning in verse 8.

Our study now takes us from the lives of Abel, Enoch and Noah into the life of Abraham. Dr. Mitchell first take us to the book of Acts 7:2 where Stephen recites the call of Abraham which echoes Heb.11:8.

In obeying God's call, Abraham began a life of separation. It was life of separation from family and from his place of birth.

Dr. Mitchell points s out that Abraham entered into a place of intimacy with the living God. Abraham was later on in scripture called the friend of God.

Can you and I be in that place of intimate fellowship with God? Yes! Especially when we read God's word and talk with Him about what is on our heart.

Let's open to Hebrews 11:8 as Dr. Mitchell explores this beginning of Abraham's walk with the living God.

Dr. Mitchell states faith is 'one's response to divine revelation'. God speaks and one can believe in Him and what He says. Faith says, God is accessible.

Heb.11:6 states ”He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that seek Him”.

Dr. Mitchell empasizes the fact we may not understand everything we read, but that we are not saved by understanding, but we are saved by faith.

Understanding only aids our faith by giving us an assurance of the truth especially of our position in Christ.

You can take note of the fact that the author of Hebrews in chapter 11 verse 3 places faith before understanding, especially regarding things we were not around to see.

Word of God the ages and the heavens and the earth were created by God.

Everything that exists came into being by the spoken Word by God Himself thru Jesus Christ. Dr. Mitchell then goes on to verse 4. Here the sacrifice of faith is shown in the life of Abel. Abel's life of faith can be found in Genesis chapter 4.

Dr. Mitchell explores the contrasts between Abel and Cain and their respective offerings. Let's open our Bibles with Dr. Mitchell to Hebrews 11:3 to hear what the life of faith involves for you and me.

Hebrews chapter 11 gives the believer previous examples of men and women who lived their lives by faith. This chapter is often called the Hall of Faith as the author gives the reader a chronological overview of the lives of several Old Testament saints who lived by faith.

We are looking into Hebrews 10:35-38.

Two truths are presented in these verses. First of all is the need for endurance in trials and persecutions which provides confidence.

Secondly, is the promise of the coming of our Lord Jesus for His own. The author emphasizes that when the savior does come, He will come quickly and will not delay.

So this makes it necessary for the believer to live by faith daily until He does come.

Let's open our Bibles and listen along together as Dr. Mitchell shares with us, Hebrews 10:35-38.

This is the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. We are studying in Hebrews 10:32-35.

In this lesson Dr. Mitchell will be sharing with us the author's exhortation to the original hearers and listeners to remember their former days when they first came to faith in Christ. It was a time of enduring persecutions for their faith in the savior.

He encourages them and us to hold onto this confidence in your faith which has a reward.

Dr. Mitchell will speak on the five rewards and crowns which the Lord will give those who are faithful to Him.
