Our study today continues in 1Cor.11 where Dr. Mitchell will be looking at verses 17-25.

The apostle Paul once again confronts this church concerning their division. 

His focus is on instructions concerning Order at the Lord's Table.

The Lord's Table or Lord's Supper is the time when the believer can enter into the  presence of God to remember the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Its a memorial and a worship and not a ritual or an ordinance. It is the church's proclamation of the savior and his finished work until He comes.

Here is Dr. Mitchell in 1Cor.11:17.

Dr. Mitchell is speaking on headship in the church in 1Cor.11 in the Unchanging Word today.

He says, Headship is a matter of order and position not of being superior or inferior. 

These verses reveal the relationship of equality in the Godhead between God the Father and Christ Himself .

Our study today picks up again in 1Cor.10 beginning at verse 23. 

Dr. Mitchell will be covering 23- thru verse 1 of chapter 11. He will be speaking about conscience and doing all to the glory of God.

Everyone has a conscience but not everyone has the same conscience. 

Each man's conscience is to be based on the Word of God.

Paul said in Acts 24:16  

"I do my best to always keep a conscience 

void of offense both before God and before man."

Each conscience, before God, 

based on the Word of God,  

believes in the Glory of God,

Jesus Christ Himself.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, 1Corinthians 10:23 

Idolatry was certainly a visible and spiritual reality in the city of Corinth.

Today's lesson looks at the incompatibility of idolatry and fellowship with God in 1 Corinthians 10:16-22.

The only way to guard against idolatry is by faith looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of that faith, ..putting Christ pre-eminent in our heart and life.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true.

Idolatry comes in many forms, spiritual, mental, and physical but knowing Him who is true, Jesus Christ, who is the truth, can keep one from idolatry of every kind.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, in 1 Corinthians 10:16-22.

In today's lesson, 1 Corinthians 10:12-15, we are warned about pride and self sufficiency.

All temptation is common to man.

But even during a temptation, God is faithful to help us endure it while providing a way of escape.

God knows our limits and He Himself accompanies us all during the trial.

What an assurance during a test.

The Lord is with us even during the storm, even when everything seems in turmoil.

We learn that only the disciples went through the storms, not the multitudes.

Our faith is not destroyed by tests, but it is purified. And in the end, we will be just like Jesus.

Here in 1Cor. 10:12 is Dr. Mitchell.

1Cor.10:11 sets a warning before us.

Please note that God recorded past examples for the benefit of you and me today "upon who the ends of the ages are come."

These examples were written as "instruction" that we should we learn from them no to be tempted to self sufficiency rather than trusting in the Living God,

Are you looking to Jesus the author and perfecter of faith?

Which would you choose to do?

To look or to die? To look at Jesus or not?

Is that such a hard decision?

The Unchanging Word would like to help you understand what Jesus has done, is doing and will yet do for the one who truly trusts in Him alone.

Let's listen to Dr. Mitchell, 1 Corinthians 10:11.

Our study today in 1Cor 10:5-7 centers around Israel's failures, five which are described.

The truth we see is that leaving Egypt is not the problem.

The problem is entering into the promised land by faith.

God says in Heb.3:12:

"Take heed, brethren lest haply there is in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief in falling away from the living God, but exhort one another day by day so long as it is called today, lest anyone of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

So, by faith, then, let us become partakers of Christ.

Here is Dr. Mitchell in 1Cor.10:5.

We are in 1 Corinthians chapter 10 on the Unchanging Word Bible podcast.

As we hear today, these things happened to Moses and Israel as our examples, both in what is evil and in what is good. And in these examples, what is good?

God delivered, protected and sustained them.

Will He not do so you and me?

That Rock was Christ that was smitten by Moses.

Christ was smitten once

by God Himself

at the cross

for our sins.

He was smitten once,

never to be smitten again forever.

Now we can speak to the Rock to let Him know that we love Him or to confess our sins.

Here is a challenge!

Try eating caramel corn three meals a day for one week to get a taste of eating manna for 40 years !

Would you still thank God for His provision?

God has given us the true bread from heaven, Jesus Christ Himself saying, in John 6, 'I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall not hunger and he that believes in me shall never thirst.' Jesus sustains!

We begin our study in 1st Corinthians 10 learning about Israel's blessings from God.

For 40 years in the wilderness, all of them were blessed. With Christ in their midst, God led them, He protected them, He delivered them and He sustained them.

Here is Dr. Mitchell to continue or study in First Corinthians 10.

God is still pleading for sinners to come to him.

God is speaking to you who do not yet know him.

As you would begin any relationship, will you begin today by just talking with God. Just speak to God and tell Him you want to know Him. And thank Him for sending Jesus to die for you and your sins. He will lead you. Do that today.

Paul makes it evident that he became all things to all men that he might by all means save some. But in order to do that it took strong self discipline of the body…exercising self control in order to receive an incorruptible crown.
