Lisa answers my question of "why do clients hire us" by starting with the premise that clients choose us because of the way they feel. It's the people skills and the soft skills that allow our clients to like us and trust us. 

Talking points to remember from my conversation with Lisa: 

• First, let's start to understand why clients hire us.
• We as IT business owners and professionals must learn to care about their "brand image"
• Learn to engage your clients with empathy, not just sympathy.
• Use Emotional Intelligence to impact client relationship, which then will impact your sales growth

5. Start thinking about the next conference. Before you forget, mark the date

Liz assists MSPs with having a Master Service Agreement (MSA), Service Schedule, Statement of Work, and much more. We discuss some of the "templates" that are floating around on the Internet and were "tweaked" to work with IT service providers.  

A Service Level Agreement (SLA) or Statement of Work (SOW) lacks a lot of the protections that come with a properly written MSA. 

So, what should you do? 

• Hire a real technology lawyer for your contracts
• Use the correct language
• Be specific
• Have requirements for your customers

Should you get an insurance policy or an MSA? Both!
