Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions.
It was an eventful start to the Big Ten season for the Ohio State women’s basketball team. It took an overtime period for the Buckeyes to separate themselves from a Penn State Nittany Lions team that almost left Columbus with an upset victory. Instead, it was a 94-84 win for the scarlet and gray.
After the game, head coach Kevin McGuff and stars Cotie McMahon and Jacy Sheldon addressed a number of topics.
Coach McGuff discussed the slow start to the game and playing through a lot of initial whistles that didn’t allow either side to get momentum going. Then, talking about a poor free throw shooting day, the outstanding play for PSU guards Makenna Marisa and Shay Ciezki, plus his thoughts on the return of guard Madison Greene following two seasons where the point guard only appeared 12 times.
Then, McMahon talked about how the team supported Greene’s return to the court. Support that included working through the mental part of recovery. Also, McMahon showed her own way of staying humble and grateful in her basketball journey and adjusting to an initially poor start in free throw shooting and getting more comfortable as the game continued.
Sheldon ended availability continuing the discussion surrounding Greene’s return, including the perspective of her and other Buckeyes who have played with Greene since the beginning in 2019. Then the guard talked coming back in a game to win for the first time this season.
That and more on the latest Land-Grant Uncut.
