One theme in the New Testament that has not been studied: mothers and motherhood. That is until now. Dr. Jennifer Houston McNeel, a New Testament professor at the St. Mary's Ecumenical Institute in Baltimore, MD, has now written that book—"Under Her Wings: Mother and Motherhood in the New Testament." She joins David Capes on "The Stone Chapel Podcast" to discuss how themes of mother and motherhood shape the story of the Gospels, but also leaders like Jesus, Paul, and John. These men talk freely about themselves as church leaders not only in fatherly tones but also in motherly as well. And they extend those qualities to God himself. It's an important book for pastors, church leaders, and scholars alike.
