I remember when my kids were both under the age of five, it was chaotic in the kitchen at dinnertime. There was crying and screaming.

And I remember it was so stressful for me, especially when my now three-year-old was one year old, it was just so stressful and then my husband wasn't there to help me and I had to control them and the cooking and I hated it.

But the one thing that really, really helped me later in that I learned, which I'm still doing, and I've been doing for the last couple of years, is meal planning.

How do I plan meals?

Today I am diving into goal setting. I just love the subject so much I get goosebumps.

Goal setting is something that I just find so incredibly rewarding, not just for myself. But if I see other people, especially my clients, when they achieve the goals that we create for them, oh my gosh, it is like such an amazing feeling.

So here's the thing, there's a bit of a method to achieve your goals. So smart stands for specific measurements accountable, realistic, and timely. I use the SMART method for setting goals. I did not create this method, I discovered it many years ago and it has worked very well for me ever since.

Focus and Annual Planning

It’s so incredibly important to have both of these things in your business.

And most small businesses don't actually plan ahead. I don't know if it's a combination of having enough mental energy, not the actual time to do so. Maybe it is the fear of the future, considering 2020 has been a complete upside down-tuned, cray year for a lot of businesses.

Planning six months ahead does sound fearful because you don't actually know what's going to happen.

But the reality is we only have 24 hours. It's not that the next person has more time or less time than we have. It's just about how we manage that time and fit everything into our very busy schedules.

And I also have a marketing agency and coaching and all of those things. And my family still gets a lot of my time, in reality only work about 30 hours a week.

Today’s episode is about discipline. Wow, discipline. Yes, it's a strong word, but it's yet so crucially important for success.

Most of the people that I've interviewed on my podcast says that discipline is one of the behind the scenes ‘things’ that make them successful. How can you enforce discipline in a very gentle way, for your family and for yourself that will help you to be successful in life?

Have you ever seen the movie full metal jacket and the very beginning the first five minutes of the movie, this is a senior drill instructor and he walks between the troops? And they're all standing there in their rooms with the hands next to their sides, very serious face very, very tardy made upbeats. And he says to them, from now on, you'll only speak when you're spoken to. And the words coming out of your mouth will be sir, and he carries on like that, something like that. Do yourself a favor go on to YouTube and search for a full metal jacket opening statement. It's got like 5 million-plus views. It's a really good movie. It's an old movie from 1987. But imagine running your house like that.

That was the first thing when I saw that again, after many, many years, I thought to myself, wow that's crazy. Imagine running your house like that. Imagine doing that with your children every day, that's not normal. Obviously, we're not going to do that. So we want to do gentle ways to enforce discipline.

Today’s episode is about gratitude.

Did you know gratitude can actually help you to sleep better at night, believe it or not, it helps you to appreciate the little things in life a little bit more and stopped caring so much about the materialistic things.

And it actually teaches you a lot about resilience, and just the overall general happiness about life and being in a positive happy mood.

And it also has a big contribution to help you to achieve your goals. So, gratitude has a massive impact all around you.

The more you learn how to be grateful for things in life, from a younger age, the more you're going to appreciate life growing up.

Routine helps us with a bunch of things every single day.
