Taylor Mason is an American ventriloquist, comedian, and musician renowned for his family-friendly performances that blend humor, music, and the art of ventriloquism. Born on February 22, 1956, in Chicago, Mason was introduced to puppetry at the age of nine, a hobby he kept largely to himself during his youth. He pursued higher education at the University of Illinois, majoring in agriculture and communication, and later earned a master's degree in advertising from Northwestern University. While at the University of Illinois, Mason began performing as a disc jockey and stand-up comedian, incorporating music and ventriloquism into his act. His early career included performing at Chicago piano bars and serving as the musical director for The Second City Touring Company, where he worked alongside notable comedians such as Dan Castellaneta. In 1991, Mason gained national recognition by winning the grand prize on the television competition show Star Search. 

 

Over the years, Mason has built a diverse career in comedy and entertainment, performing at venues ranging from comedy clubs and colleges to churches and Disney Cruise Line ships. He has appeared on numerous television programs, including Showtime specials, and authored two books on ventriloquism: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Ventriloquism and Irreversible, the latter offering a humorous recollection of his journey in the entertainment industry . Mason's commitment to clean, inclusive comedy has made him a sought-after performer for audiences of all ages, transcending demographics and niches. His act combines ventriloquism, music, and comedy in a unique way that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
