Some neighborhoods flood every time it rains hard. Others barely notice. Some communities have fresh food around the corner. Others drive miles for a vegetable. Most people treat those as separate problems. Preston "King" Robinson says they are the same problem wearing different clothes, and that the decisions behind them were made generations before Katrina ever showed up.
King is the founder of Garden Picasso, and he grew up in the Seventh Ward, where flooding was so routine nobody thought to question it. He beat cancer at seventeen, went into chemical engineering, and came back home with a different way of seeing his own city, one that starts three feet under the soil instead of at the curb. In this conversation he breaks down why the city sinks, what the pumps can actually handle, why concrete makes a neighborhood hotter and angrier, and how a vacant lot can be turned into something that holds water, grows food, and pays somebody.
Bruce and King get into Katrina and what people in those neighborhoods still say they heard that night, gentrification moving street by street, gumbo filΓ© and what New Orleans does to an ingredient, and an employee model built around people most companies skip over entirely. It is a conversation about landscaping the way a house is about lumber.

A listener slides into the DMs with a situation that sounds simple until it isn't: she's married to a man in North Carolina, quietly dating a man in Illinois, and only one of the three people involved actually knows the whole truth. Bruce breaks down why "waiting for the right time" is usually just a more comfortable way to keep lying, and gets honest about his own divorce and what it taught him about running from pain instead of walking through it.
Then the conversation turns to Big Tigger, the video of him wrestling with his estranged wife over a phone, and the tangle of separate legal cases now surrounding both of them. Bruce lays out the full picture in plain English, makes the case for why you should never fight anybody for a phone, and gets serious about believing victims even when their history is complicated.
By the last segment, Bruce and his sister pull the curtain back on themselves, admitting that no amount of money fixes the habit of nickel and diming yourself straight back to broke. Three stories, one thread: the decisions we keep postponing don't disappear. They just collect interest.

Bruce and Jay are back from a break! Jay takes their mom to Essence Fest in New Orleans and comes home with a story about a stranger that neither of them saw coming. Bruce spends his 46th birthday doing absolutely nothing on purpose, and it forces a question he did not expect to ask himself about who he is becoming as he gets older.
Then the conversation turns to Supergirl. The movie took hits online before anyone even sat down to watch it, the box office numbers are rough, and the reasons why go a lot deeper than good or bad filmmaking. Bruce breaks down the one thing he would have fixed, Jay pushes back with the view from the editing chair, and together they get into who really gets uncomfortable when a woman leads the story.
Underneath all of it is one idea that ties the whole episode together. So much of what we believe about movies, about people, about getting older, we decided before we ever lived it. This one is about what happens when you stop letting other people write your story and start experiencing things for yourself.

For nearly three decades, Mark Steven Porro built a life in Hollywood. Then one phone call sent him home to say goodbye to his mother during what everyone believed were her final days. What was supposed to be a last visit turned into years of moving back into his childhood home at 55 and learning, hands on, how to care for the woman who once cared for him.
In this conversation, Mark takes us all the way back to a big, strict Jersey family of six kids, a night shift mom who championed the arts, and a frugal father he only truly got to know as an adult. From there we follow the road to Hollywood, the 2011 hospice call that changed everything overnight, and the small, funny, human moments that became the heart of his memoir, A Cup of Tea on the Commode.
This one is about family, dignity, and why Mark believes more men should stop running from caregiving and start seeing it as an honor. It gets emotional, and it lands somewhere unexpected: the person you set out to rescue ends up rescuing you.
If this conversation moves you, do yourself a favor and pick up Mark's book, A Cup of Tea on the Commode. It will make you look at your own family a little differently. Go support Mark's work at https://acupofteaonthecommode.org.

Bruce and Jay are back for one more Sibling Happy Hour! Bruce drops an analogy he came up with that reframes the whole conversation about American power: America is Mike Tyson. Still muscular, still capable of hurting you, still living off an aura built decades ago. The two of them dig into what that reputation is actually built on and why the rest of the world may be reading it very differently than Americans do.
From there the conversation turns personal and infuriating with a Target gift card saga that spirals into a month long customer service nightmare, plus a real talk about boycotts, celebrity disappointment, and where loyalty actually lands.
Then the brackets come out. That viral 2026 income class chart making the rounds gets taken apart piece by piece, from median income by race to the net worth gap to whether anybody can really survive at the federal poverty line. Bruce and Jay get into why income and security are not the same thing and why some families have been starting from the bottom by design.
The back half is a reaction to the new Netflix crack cocaine documentary, and it goes deep. The economics of how crack opened a brand new market, the Contras and the convenient blind eye, the 100 to 1 sentencing disparity that Bruce once wrote a college paper fighting, and the crack baby myth that stripped real people of their humanity. It all builds to one question worth sitting with: when does America finally decide whether its story still matches its reality.

DMX finally got his street in Yonkers, and instead of a celebration, it turned into a live family feud between his ex-wife, his kids, and his fiancΓ©e, the mic literally got cut off. That kicks off a bigger question Bruce has been sitting on for weeks: who really gets to own somebody's legacy once they're gone.
From there, the show pivots to the Karmelo Anthony verdict, and Bruce does something most people online refused to do this time. He separates the facts of what happened under that tent from everything America turned it into afterward, while being honest about his own bias as a Black man watching an all-Black-absent jury hand down a 35-year sentence.
Then his sister Jay pulls up for Sibling Happy Hour to settle a real argument that's got nothing to do with their own family, but everything to do with parents, boundaries, and who actually gets a say in your house when you're not home. Family runs through the whole episode, just in three completely different forms.

Gen Z is done performing for strangers, and honestly, can you blame them? Bruce and Jay break down why an entire generation is quietly stepping back from Instagram and TikTok, not because they're antisocial, but because they've spent their whole lives being watched and are finally trying to figure out who they actually are without an audience.
Then the siblings get into the UFC fight that happened on the South Lawn of the White House, and the fighter who thought it was the right moment to dust off a 17-year-old conspiracy theory about Michelle Obama. Bruce and Jay unpack why this keeps happening to Black women specifically, why the silence from everyone with a microphone that night was deafening, and what it actually tells us about the people doing the attacking.
Plus the saxophone sound. If you know, you know. Bruce and Jay test the meme against their own lives, and the stories that come out include a bike crash on Dead Man's Curve, a frosted windshield with zero visibility, an edible that went completely sideways, and a dog workout session with no ball.

Trump walked into Madison Square Garden for the first Knicks NBA Finals game since 1999 and got a reception Fox News refuses to admit happened. That alone would carry a Sibling Happy Hour, but Bruce and Jay are just warming up. Neil deGrasse Tyson sat down with Shannon Sharpe and calmly dismantled everything America taught you about race, and Bruce and Jay break down why the science says one thing while the history books were built to say another. From the Michael Jackson movie going head to head with a suspiciously timed Netflix documentary, to Serena Williams serving 120 mph at 44 years old, to the hacked Diddy footage that has the whole internet using three letters, to a UFC cage going up on the White House front lawn, this episode covers the stories everybody is talking about and the uncomfortable parts nobody wants to say out loud. Jay had a bad day, the snark is at full power, and the third segment is absolutely parental advisory. You have been warned.

This Episode goes three rounds, and none of them hit light. It starts with a conversation Bruce and Jay have been circling for years. Not male loneliness in the broad sense, but Black male loneliness specifically. What it looks like when emotional suppression isn't a personal choice but a survival strategy. What happens when a man spends decades learning to provide everything except himself. And what it actually takes to feel seen when the world has spent a long time teaching you not to ask for it.
Then Bruce shifts to the FIFA World Cup 2026, coming to US soil June 11th, and makes the case that what's happening around it is way bigger than soccer. Heat risk at six major venues. A travel ban covering 39 countries, including Haiti, who just qualified for the World Cup for the first time in over 50 years. Dynamic pricing that sent ticket costs up 34% on average, with some final seats pushing near $33,000. And FIFA handing Trump a peace prize while claiming to be apolitical. Bruce connects every thread and asks the question that cuts through it all: is the World Cup still for the fans, or is it a corporate product wearing a sports jersey?
The episode closes with a Q&A, your questions answered. Why Bruce started this podcast with no name recognition and why he's unapologetic about how it's grown. What "I don't want to be right, I want to be correct" actually means, and why it matters. How Jay has made him change his mind more than once. And how he handles it when guests share things on the show that hit him in the chest.

After years of staying above the noise, Jay-Z returned to the Roots Picnic and used the moment to address Dame Dash, Jaguar Wright, Drake, and years of speculation surrounding his legacy. We break down what Hov actually said, why this performance mattered, and whether this marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of hip-hop's most influential figures.
Then we turn to Minnesota, where Republican delegates approved a moment of silence for Derek Chauvin just days after the sixth anniversary of George Floyd's death. We discuss why the decision sparked outrage, why George Floyd's case remains one of the most divisive cultural events in modern America, and what it says about politics, accountability, and public memory.
Finally, we lighten things up with a debate inspired by a viral moment involving Denzel Washington and LeBron James. What makes someone a true GOAT? Is it talent? Influence? Legacy? Respect? We build our personal Top 5 lists and debate whether icons like Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, BeyoncΓ©, Eddie Murphy, Betty White, Michelle Obama, Serena Williams, and others belong in the conversation.
