In November 2020, the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Advisory contractors retired the Local Coverage Determinants (LCDs) for home parenteral and enteral nutrition (PEN). On September 5, 2021 new LCDs took effect after close to 4 decades of no change. This podcast discusses the new LCDs, what it means for home PEN patients and home providers. It also addresses the challenges that still exist in home PEN Medicare coverage which will require advocacy from ASPEN, its partners such as NHIA, home care clinicians and patients.
