Upland Down Under

In this episode, I was joined by Laban, who has been a highly active and engaged member and supporter of the Upland community since joining way back in November 2020. Laban has pretty much been involved in and seen it all as Upland has continued to grow and develop since then, from humble beginnings as an FSA agent in Fresno working with established players (including myself), to having some epic USD flips and striving towards, and succeeding in, getting his account into the green ‘playing with house money’ status, which is a goal for many players (myself included). Laban has gone on to be a huge supporter of many Upland broadcasters and various node projects, including Lone Mountain in San Francisco and his recent move to residential status in Midtown Terrace. He’s also a metaventure owner, operating the ‘Graveyard Goods’ map assets business, from which he produces and sells a range of terrifyingly affordable gravestones that are guaranteed to help bring your properties to life—or death—while not horrifying you financially. We discussed all of that today, including his thoughts and opinions on a number of contemporary and historical Upland events, and I hope you enjoy our chat. Although he isn’t a fan of his ancestral ties to my beloved black metal, Laban has well and truly shaken off the Celtic Frost and is becoming Immortal as he rises and shines… from the grave in 'The Metaverse and Beyond!'.

On tonight's show, we catch up on the Upland market and Sparklet floors. We check in on Totems Cycle 2, gamified earnings, and Sizzle Season Pass cosmetics. More glitches appear as the "Oops, something went wrong, please try again" virus spreads. There’s plenty to unpack with Sparklet, including the airdrops and the ongoing confusion surrounding them, and we’ve got a sales update for the Genesis Node Midtown Terrace. The main topic for tonight's show is "Detechland!"—taking a look at the most recent work of masterful and award-winning UGC virtuoso Detech, and Upland’s first community-designed neighborhood in Paris! We’ve also got QIPS on solar machinations, structure ornaments, Block Explorers, Totems, Metaventure stats, and Sparklet staking. We'll take a look at another Upland community member spotlight, courtesy of the Dynamic Node Builders team. Tonight we gave away 80,000 UPX and 3 map assets, which takes the 2024 giveaway tally to 1,935,000 UPX, 96 map assets, three vehicles, and five properties. All that and more on this, the Upland Down Under Podcast!

On this week’s show, crypto consolidates, Tether and Aptos announce a partnership, crypto markets brace for the Fed's comments, the Upland Airdrop campaign ends, the Upland Midtown Terrace sale has begun, ASEAN enters the Metaverse through ROBLOX, unleashing the power of the Metaverse to transform marketing, insane AI videos and images go viral in the lead-up to the US Presidential election, a mayoral candidate promises to let an OpenAI bot govern the capital city, Trump cashes in on memecoin taxes and NFT royalties, Shaquille O’Neal gets a split court verdict on NFT endorsement, TON and Telegram play a crucial role in Web3 gaming, the top 5 game coins in Web3, and reviving Web3 gaming with AI. Plus, as always, we ground ourselves with some real-world insights with a few doses of reality from the Meatsuitaverse.

In this episode, I was joined by QAPM, who is another member of the Upland Australian community—well, kind of. QAPM has been actively involved in Upland since back in the Fresno days, spending time navigating the platform fairly independently before moving more and more into collaborative community engagement. That has led to him becoming one of the most active and engaged members of the Cosme Velho Node community in the Upland Metaverse, helping to establish and continue to develop the Rio neighbourhood towards the goal of reaching Neighbourhood Collection status. We spoke about that journey, of course, as well as his perspectives on Upland’s development and role within the wider WEB3 sector, and its own trajectory. We also discussed his personal history as a quasi-Australian, having been born in the United States but spending many of his formative years living and exploring his hometown at heart, Sans Souci in Sydney. It turns out that QAPM and I share a number of life events and perspectives, some of which we also discussed, and I hope you enjoy getting to know QAPM a lot better through our chat, as much as I did. While QAPM’s IRL citizenship is somewhat complex to unpack, he knows exactly where his home and heart are located in 'The Metaverse and Beyond!'.

On tonight's show, we catch up on the Upland market and Sparklet floors. A last call for the Bitget Sparklet airdrop has been given, there are a couple of new Upland news articles to take a look at, apparently, treasure hunting has been nerfed again, and we check up on Totems Cycle 2. The main topic for tonight's show is, 'This can’t continue: the growing critical stability crisis for Upland on iOS.' We’ve also got QIPS on quality control, quality of life updates, Sparklet utility, and a possible ‘Metaverse & Beyond!’ podcast conspiracy. We'll take a look at another Upland community member spotlight, courtesy of the Dynamic Node Builders team. Tonight we also gave away 70,000 UPX and 10 map assets, which takes the 2024 giveaway tally to 1,855,000 UPX, 93 map assets, three vehicles, and five properties. On this week’s show, crypto claws back some of the recent losses, Venezuela restricts Binance access, Ethereum sets new staking withdrawal records, Upland Totems' 2nd cycle begins, while Chapter Two Sparklet airdrop ends, half of the 10 most valuable companies on Earth are now making metaverse hardware, Sandbox land prices plunge 95%, OpenAI fears people will form bonds with the AI it developed to fool humans, Apple to release the next-generation iPhone SE with AI features in 2025, Lamborghini partners with NFT gaming giant Animoca Brands, Ethereum still dominates NFT sales, but market participation shrinks, big names invest $6M in Pentagon Games’ quest to reimagine Web3 gaming, and Ubisoft unveils the Captain Laserhawk game. Plus, as always, we ground ourselves with some real-world insights with a few doses of reality from the Meatsuitaverse.

In this episode, I was joined by fellow Australian ACE696, who happens to live not far north of me here in Queensland. And that’s not where our similarities end. We both got into crypto around the same time and had similar adventures in that sector, we both stumbled into Upland, and we’ve both made active community engagement and UGC map asset content creation one of our main personal hobbies. Which, as we both agree, isn’t a ‘normal’ sort of thing to do for blokes of our age and backgrounds. We dove into some of that today, of course, as well as discussing our perspectives on a bunch of contemporary Upland news and events, before switching over to focus on his ACE COLLECTABLES metaventure series. Ace has some great perspectives and insights into his active participation in what was essentially the second wave of map asset creators, and he’s developing quite a sizeable collection of very high-quality UGC-created items for Upland. I hope you enjoy our chat and stick with it through some of the moments of shitty Australian internet lag, because, as a bit of a heads-up, it might just be worth your while. Maybe you’ll come away with an Ace up your sleeve, thanks to Ace696, who’s truly flying Aces High in 'The Metaverse and Beyond!'.
