The move sparked deadly protests on the border with Gaza - dozens of Palestinians were killed and thousands of others injured in clashes with Israeli forces. A US law allowing the embassy shift to take place has been on the books for decades, as Luke Shrago explains. Also, the first election in Iraq since the defeat of the Islamic State group was not without surprises. The incumbent, PM Haider al-Abadi, is struggling to keep his job.
