People were counting on 6ix9ine to come out of his cave to troll Lil Durk following the tragic news of his older brother DThang’s murder. Right on cue, the polarizing rapper popped up in Akademiks’ comment section on Sunday (June 6) to leave some tasteless remarks about Lil Durk’s latest loss.
“@lildurk tell the truth about yo Gang man they really dyin,” he wrote alongside several laughing emojis. “@lildurk stop the senseless violence.” From there, he moved over to The Shade Room and left a sarcastic “RIP” under a post about DThang’s death.
6ix9ine has been taunting Lil Durk for months, angering several other Chicago rappers in the process.
Shortly after Durk’s Only The Family artist King Von was fatally shot outside of an Atlanta hookah bar last November, 6ix9ine accused Durk of exploiting his death to sell more copies of his mixtape, The Voice.
At the time, the project was on pace to sell roughly 55,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week. Seizing the moment to throw a jab, 6ix9ine made a distasteful comment about King Von that enflamed Von’s friends and fans.
“Used Von name for sales,” he wrote. “Is NOT blackballed has all industry support. 55k and his man was caught in 4K #KingVon REST IN PISS.
Par for the course, the 24-year-old Brooklynite is back at it again, but Lil Durk has yet to publicly respond to his brother’s death or 6ix9ine’s antics.
According to TMZ, Cook County officials confirmed Dontay Banks Jr.— DThang’s government name — was found deceased on the 7900 block of S. Loomis Blvd. in Chicago and has been assigned a case number.
An autopsy still has to be completed to figure out the cause and manner of death, but alleged witnesses at the scene claim he was shot in the head and died instantly. He was 32.
lil Durk has dealt with the loss of close friends at several instances in his career and unfortunately, the rapper will now have to deal with the death of another one. According to Chicago’s WGCI, Durk’s brother, DThang, was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday night. The reports say that DThang, born Dontay Banks Jr., was shot in the head outside of Club O, a strip club in Harvey, Illinois, a city south of his hometown of Chicago. HipHopDX adds that witnesses at the scene said DThang suffered a gunshot wound to the head which killed him instantly upon impact.
The passing of DThang comes eight months after King Von, who Durk affectionately referred to as “twin,” was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Atlanta. Von’s death shocked the hip-hop world as the fellow Chicago rapper was quickly rising to become one of the game’s brightest young stars. Durk would honor the late rapper in a number of ways. One example came on the album cover for his late 2020 album The Voice which featured a picture of him and Von together.
DThang’s death occurred during what was supposed to be a celebratory weekend for Durk. The rapper and Lil Baby are just days removed from sharing their highly-anticipated joint album, Voice Of The Heroes, which presented features from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Rod Wave.

Drake's 3-year-old son got a taste of Lakers playoff basketball, and even though it wasn't very good ... he didn't look like he cared too much.
Billboard's Artist of the Decade brought Adonis to the Staples Center Thursday night to watch L.A. take on the Phoenix Suns and try to avoid elimination.
Dad kept him a little farther away from the action than courtside -- we're guessing it's a safety thing -- but did sit with him for a bit to point out some players on the court ... and probably give some fatherly hoops advice.
Adonis was decked out in a dope LeBron jersey and headphones as he entered the arena with Drake. We don't know if he was listening to hype music for the Lakers, but if so ... it didn't work. They got trounced 113-100.
So, Bron and the Lakers won't be repeating as NBA champs, but this father-son basketball outing's still pretty cool. Best of all ... no tears this time!
It’s been 16 months since Pop Smoke was gunned down during a botched robbery in the Hollywood Hills. But the pain Pop Smoke’s mother Audrey Jackson is experiencing likely feels just as sharp as the day she found out he’d been killed.
On Thursday (June 3), the Daily News reported Jackson was considering meeting up with the family of her son’s suspected murderer, 20-year-old Corey Walker.
Walker’s attorney Christopher Darden said, “The Walker family has asked me to contact the victim’s family so that they might speak privately. I hope to reach out to the family soon.”
Audrey Jackson, a teacher with the New York City Department of Education, hasn’t decided if she’ll be able to go through with it.
“This is new information to me,” she said. “I’ll have to learn more. I’m working on a lesson plan right now. That is my focus. I really can’t say.”
Darden reportedly understood the hesitation, adding, “They might need time. I will also understand if (his mom) is not inclined to have that conversation. Everything we have done and said has been done and said while keeping in mind the great respect we have for the victim and the victim’s family.”
Pop Smoke was shot and killed in February 2020, just before he was to release his historic debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. In a preliminary hearing last month, Jackson learned the alleged triggerman was a 15-year-old kid who was after Pop Smoke’s diamond-studded Rolex and gold chain.
Darden argued Walker may have been the driver that night but never entered the house and even told his younger co-defendants not to use deadly force.
“My client did not kill anyone,” he said. “Nor did he conspire to commit murder. Corey was 18. He did not kill the victim. He did not enter the home. The agreement amongst the suspects according to the DA’s evidence was that no gun was to be fired. That is in the record.”
Walker was expected to be arraigned in the murder case this week, but the hearing was postponed until July 6 as Darden awaits copies of transcripts and a formal declaration from prosecutors they won’t seek the death penalty.
A third victim has died from her injuries sustained in a mass shooting at a Miami-area rap concert early Sunday, a new report said. Shankquia Lechelle Peterson, 32, died Thursday after being shot in the hail of bullets fired by three gunmen into a crowd outside El Mula Banquet Hall in northwest Miami-Dade County, the Miami Herald reported. Twenty other people were wounded in the gunfire. Police are still searching for the suspects.
On Monday, authorities released surveillance footage showing three shooters hop out of a white SUV, carrying rifles and a handgun before opening fire. Miami-Dade Police Department Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez III said the gunmen appeared to fire randomly into the crowd — but they had targeted the venue. “These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims,” he told CBS.
Instagram can be the most successful police informant, and one Detroit rapper learned this the hard way.
According to the Detroit News, federal agents arrested rapper Delmarco Craig, who goes by “the Big Homie” after an Instagram Live video linked him to seven shootings. Despite being a convicted felon, Craig decided to flash several firearms while streaming. This included a Glock pistol equipped with a device that converts the semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic machine gun. This Glock caught the attention of federal agents because the attachments rendered it illegal.
Two days after the video, Craig’s home was raided by ATF agents. They found six firearms—two of which were reportedly stolen—and the modified Glock seen on Instagram. Ballistics linked the firearms to seven shootings since October, including a homicide and a double non-fatal shooting that took place hours after his Instagram Live.
Tests also linked a rifle back to an April shooting at a CVS. During the shooting, surveillance video showed a white 2021 Cadillac Escalade at the scene. Police found the stolen car in the backyard of Craig’s home during the federal raid. Inside, they discovered a purple Los Angeles Dodgers hat similar to one Craig is seen wearing in Instagram videos.
Craig is currently being held without bond on charges that could get him 10 years in federal prison. His arrest comes as part of the city’s initiative to crack down on violence sparked by Instagram and social media in Detroit. This was spearheaded by the prosecution of Seven Mile Bloods who promoted violence against enemies on Instagram.
“Every trigger-puller in Detroit should be put on notice,” ATF agent James Deir said in a statement. “Gun violence in our community will not be tolerated and those who choose to use a firearm to commit any type of violent act will be held to account for their misdeeds.”
Featuring Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Rod Wave Frequent collaborators Lil Baby and Lil Durk have released their new album, The Voice of the Heroes. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. The 18-track project features appearances from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Rod Wave. It was originally slated to drop on May 28th, but Baby and Durk opted to push the album back out of respect for the late DMX, whose posthumous album, Exodus, was released on that date. Earlier this week, Baby and Durk previewed The Voice of the Heroes by sharing its title track and Daps-directed music video.
In a March interview with MTV News, the Atlanta-born Lil Baby said he and the Chicago drill innovator had been “locked in every night” while working on the joint album. He also revealed where they got the title. “When it comes to that street shit, the streets is like, we the voices and the heroes of this shit,” he explained. Baby released his chart-topping sophomore album, My Turn, in early 2020 and has stayed in demand as a guest artist, featuring on songs by J. Cole, Drake, and Young Thug. Over the past few years, Durk has undergone a career resurgence. The veteran rapper’s melodic style of street rhymes fits right in with the dominant sound of today’s hip-hop. His most recent album is December 2020’s The Voice.
The star, who is the ex-wife of Tarek El Moussa, has seen her former husband move on with Heather Rae Young. While this has been the case, Christina has chosen to take her time to make sure that her next man is for keeps. After all, she does have a long list of failed relationships.
On top of Tarek, she was also married to Ant Anstead. And given she shares kids with both her former husbands, she has made sure that she puts their needs first. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she stated: “I feel like right now it’s just, there’s so much going on with work and the kids, so focusing on the kids and work and just having fun.”
Christina is not wrong there. She is also involved in co-parenting with Tarek to make sure that her kids have some semblance of normality. Not only that, but she also works with Tarek on their show entitled ‘Flip or Flop.’ With so many different things to contend with, Christina is focused on living her life. She added: “My goal is just to move on..and do some fun trips with the kids.. just really focus on the family.”
And this approach has worked wonders. She is on excellent terms with Tarek, which is in stark contrast during their marriage. Being able to reflect on herself has made a positive impact on those around her. She has even given Heather her blessing to become more involved with her and Tarek’s children. Although Christina is unlikely to attend the pair’s wedding, Christina and Tarek continue to make things work.
An insider confirmed as much: “Christina and Tarek’s bond is stronger than ever. They joke how they are much better off as friends.” It is great to see Christina putting her happiness first after the difficult divorces she has gone through. But one thing for sure, it will not be long before she finally settles down with someone and creates many happy memories. And we wish her the best with that.
