Teresa Murray, a consumer watchdog with the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), joins Lisa Dent to discuss Two federal food safety committees being disbanded. The two committees, the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF) and the National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI), served to ensure federal food safety was science based. Without them, Murray explains, the likelihood of foodborne illnesses could increase, warning consumers to stay vigilant for food recalls.
