It's 80s to the max, we mean like... duh! Suggested by Patreon family member Tim, it's two 80s comedies that are so 80s, you'll need a refresher course in modernity afterwards! First up, directed by Martha Coolidge, its the 80s version of the Romeo and Juliet story in 1983's "Valley Girl" but, instead of the Montagues and the Capulets, it's the Valley versus Punk Rock! Seminal valley girl Julie (Deborah Foreman) is on the outs with her valley guy boyfriend Tommy (Michael Bowen) when she spots a hot surfer dude at the beach and becomes infatuated. Unfortunately, the surfer is actually a Hollywood Hills punk rocker named Randy (Nicholas Cage). But despite their very different backgrounds, they both fall for each other almost immediately. Randy's best friend Fred (Cameron Dye) encourages him to track the girl down and date her regardless! But Julie's friends Loryn (Elizabeth Daily), Stacey (Heidi Holicker), and Suzi (Michelle Meyrink), are not at all supportive, pushing Julie to get back together with Tommy. If you know Romeo and Juliet, you have some idea how the story goes, but the ending doesn't follow the Shakespearean tragedy with 100% accuracy, so it has a happier ending.
