From where do you draw your strength? Where do you find your confidence? Does your confidence from from your faith? Or do you have idols in your life that give you comfort and strength? Believe it or not, many Christians are still placing idols above their confidence in God.

We're not talking about statues that we worship or offer sacrifices to. We're talking about the idols of job, wealth, materials, status, position, relationships, etc.

Are you getting your confidence from something other than God tonight? Cast your idols aside and find confidence in Him today!

The Christian life should be easy, shouldn't it? I mean, God has a plan for us all, we have His Word to guide us, and His Spirit to help us. It should be fairly straightforward. We are born and we live the life God has planned.

Then why is it so hard? Why do we struggle? Why do we feel weighed down and held back?

Is that you this morning? Are you feeling weighed down and held back? It's probably because Satan has placed strongholds on your life that he uses to keep you from where God wants you. Satan is able to latch on to your hidden sins, or your dirty past, or your bad relationships, or any number of things, and use them to control you, lead you off the path God has planned for you, and simply hold you back.

So how do you shed those strongholds and free yourself from Satan's control? Get serious about it and turn to the One with the power to set you free!

Imagine if you will a nation divided. There are two parties, two distinct groups of people. The division is clear. They hold differing opinions on many issues. And these two sides do not get along very well.

That could have easily described America today. But it also describes Israel at the time of Elijah's life.

In the book of 1 Kings we see Elijah face off against 850 prophets of the false god Baal. There were two divisions of people that day. They held differing opinions. Ultimately, there were two different outcomes for their side. The people there associated themselves with one side or the other. The ending of the story was different depending on which side you were on.

So which side do you stand on today? Are you standing with God? Or are you standing with the World?
