Sunday Morning, March 3rd, 2019 - Our Heavenly Home - Pastor Jared Shumate

Many people think of death as an end. True, it is the end of our journey in our earthly body. It is the end of "life" as medically defined. But to a Christian who has accepted Jesus as their personal Savior, death also means the end of illness, the end of pain and suffering.

But death is also a beginning; it is the beginning of eternity. It is the beginning of our dwelling with the Lord. We have a place prepared for us in Heaven; a home, where we will spend eternity worshiping the one who died for our sins!

Are you looking forward to your Heavenly Home one day? Maybe you have a loved one waiting there for you and you long to be with them. Maybe you are looking forward to a day with no more pain or suffering. Maybe you're just looking forward to eternity with your Savior. And one day you will open your eyes in your Heavenly Home.

But perhaps you haven't placed your eternal hope in Jesus and do not have the comfort of looking forward to a Heavenly Home. He's already paid the price for all your sins. He's willing to forgive and save today. He's offering you a gift; eternal salvation. All you have to do is accept Him as Savior and He will place your name on your own Heavenly Home.

Who are you? I don't mean your name, or your profession, or your title. It's not a question about your identity. It's more important than that. Who are you in the eyes of God?

Consider this tonight; Jesus, just before he entered the Garden of Gethsemane, prayed for you! YOU were at the top of His prayer list that night! If you are a child of God you have been adopted into His family, an outsider welcomed with open arms, a treasure to God.

Who are you tonight? Are you His?

Do you ever find yourself weighed down with the burdens of life? Work, family, health, finances, home, church, etc, etc, etc. Maybe it's not something that is particularly hard to carry on its own for a short period. But, over time, combined with the many other burdens you face day in and day out, it becomes too much for your to carry on your own. Maybe you feel that you are at the end of your rope and realize you need help.

Take it to Jesus.

In Mark we find a father who takes his son to Jesus in hopes that the Master can heal him. This father no doubt loved his son. He had cared for him in his condition since he was a child. But over time, there is no doubt that it had become a difficult burden for him to carry alone. But something inside him told him to take it to Jesus.

Take your burdens to Jesus today! Lay them at His feet and find the rest you are searching for!

Sunday Morning, February 17th, 2019 - The Purpose of Suffering - Pastor Jared Shumate

Has there ever been a time of suffering in your life when you've cried out to God, asking Him "why?" Maybe you have faced an illness, either your own or in a loved one. Perhaps it's the loss of a child, a spouse, or a parent. We all suffer in some way. The Bible tells us that we will suffer. We can't avoid it or hide from it. It's a fact of life. But have you ever stopped, turned your heart to Heaven, and asked God why?

God doesn't do anything without a purpose. He has a plan. This morning Pastor Jared showed us in the book of 1 Peter the purpose of suffering. The next time that you face some suffering in your life, take comfort in knowing that God has a Plan.
