Vandy247 Podcast

Comedian and long-time Vanderbilt fan Nate Bargatze joins the podcast for a memorable episode. Bargatze discusses his comedy career and his Vanderbilt fandom, and in many cases, the intersection of each. This one's hard to put into words; just sit back and enjoy a very entertaining episode of the VandySports podcast!

Between seven losses in football, 27 in baseball, 20 in men's hoops and 24 in women's hoops, plus some administrative apathy, it was a tough school year for Vandy fans. But, the outlook is brighter in baseball, where the Commodores could compete for a national title in 2018, and in hoops, with a stellar recruiting class coming in. Plus, Chris Lee and Seabass debate why football recruiting is struggling, Chris names an all-VU baseball team since 2010, and the two field questions on VU football.

Chris Lee and New York Dore go over every position on the diamond for 2019, including where upperclassmen are returning (and could return), as well as discuss potential freshman impact. What's the weekend and weekday rotation look like? Where does Kumar Rocker fit? Can Patrick Raby return to the rotation and pitch well? And might Justin Wilson, who announced he's returning along with catcher Stephen Scott, have value? That, and a whole lot more, in a look a year forward.

The MLB Draft has passed, and with it, several key juniors either weren't drafted, or were picked low enough that they could return for a senior season. VU will also likely be bringing in a No. 1 freshman class, setting up a scenario much like the 2013 season, when VU went 26-3 in the SEC. That, the great play heading into a super regional, and a brief chat about the disappointing start to the football class of 2019, are topics on today's podcast with Seabass.

Chris Lee and former VU pitcher reflect on the passing of former VU basketball coach C.M. Newton, who died at 88 on Monday. The talk then switches to baseball. Topics include VU's talented relief trio of Gillis, Schaller and Day, Drake Fellows, the lineup's improved hitting, what went into VU getting a super regional, and walking through who should be the No. 2 starter for the coming weekend.

First, Vanderbilt won the Clemson Regional. Then, it got Kumar Rocker through the first night of the draft. Then, the Commodores were awarded a super regional on Tuesday morning. It's been the best two days for Vanderbilt baseball in a while, and Chris Lee and New York Dore break it all down, plus, discuss who'll play second base next year, and more.

Chris Lee and Seabass tackle Vanderbilt baseball, basketball and football. Topics include Jeff Roberson's versatility and NBA fit, VandyBoys in MLB who need a fresh start somewhere else, leadership on the football team, why MLB does its draft the wrong way, whether you have to be a jerk to be an elite football coach, and more.

Chris Lee and New York Dore talk in detail about St. John's and Clemson for VU's upcoming Clemson Regional. The two discuss trade-offs of getting Ty Duvall in the lineup and putting Austin Martin at third, and talk about what to expect in terms of what VU signees may come to school after the dust has settled on the 2018 MLB Draft.

On Monday, the NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Committee hopped in its DeLorean and gave the Commodores basically the same draw they had in the 2017 Clemson Regional. Chris Lee and Chip Fridrich break down St. John's and Clemson for a few moments, then, talk about some potential changes for the regional. Talk centers around getting Ty Duvall in the lineup, as well as perhaps flipping Patrick Raby and Drake Fellows.
