Vandy247 Podcast

Chris Lee and Seabass talk about Vanderbilt players who were picked or signed as free agents by NFL teams last week, discuss basketball briefly, then, talk about how the outlook has changed for baseball in recent weeks.

How did the Commodores' 2018 hoops class come together, and what can fans expect to see from them next year and beyond? From the one who got away (Romeo Langford) to the surprise late transfer addition (Matthew Moyer), Chris Lee, David Sisk and Sean Williams give a thorough explanation of everyone you need to know about Vandy's best class in the Rivals.com era, plus, look at the roster as a whole next year.

Chris Lee and New York Dore talk about how roster construction and personal tragedy has contributed to Vanderbilt's current pitching issues. The two also talk a bit about Jackson Gillis's use, the schedule ahead (and what it would take for VU not to make the NCAA Tournament) and then wrap up the podcast with a discussion of the greatest defensive players ever to play at Vanderbilt.

Chris Lee and Chip Fridrich talk about VU's 2-1 series loss to South Carolina, and with about three-fourth of the regular season gone, define its identity. They discuss the bright spots with the lineup, more bullpen failures and where VU is in terms of NCAA Tournament seeding.

Those are just some of the topics that New York Dore and Chris Lee cover on Wednesday's podcast. Other topics include hitting coach Mike Baxter, how weather changes could affect VU's level of play, and how what we're seeing with strikeouts reflects a greater baseball trend, and not just VU.

Chris Lee and Chip Fridrich outline how Vanderbilt's baseball team is full of extremes almost any way you view it. Plus, some interesting home-road splits in the Southeastern Conference, some things that could improve about VU's offensive approach, a few reasons that VU could play better baseball soon, and some eye-popping velocity numbers from Walker Buehler's first MLB start.

After saying hello to Michael Moyer and goodbye to Jalen Pinkney, Chris Lee and Mitch Light talk baseball. Topics include Vanderbilt's underrated starting pitching, its inconsistent (but talented) bullpen, Austin Martin's terrific season, the anticipated return of J.J. Bleday, how Vanderbilt's year-to-year consistency ranks compared to some other national powers, and a massive range of outcomes as to what could happen going forward.

Syracuse's Matthew Moyer announced his transfer into the Vanderbilt basketball program on Thursday. Chris Lee and Seabass talk about that, the odd things about the 2018 baseball team, the range of win-loss outcomes for the 2018 football season, and take mailbag questions.

VU women's bowling coach John Williamson, who won his second national title last weekend, talks about his VU career. The podcast includes some humorous stories about how Williamson got his start at Vanderbilt (including a chapter working for baseball coach Tim Corbin) and how he assembled his first team, how recruiting and scholarships work, some inside-bowling talk about lane patterns, and some tidbits about members of the team and his thoughts on its chances heading into title competition.

Chris Lee and New York Dore discuss elements of Vanderbilt baseball strategy and some lineup possibilities going forward. The two also discuss Tyler Beede making it to the Majors with the Giants.
