VYS0026 | It's a Wand-erful Life - Vayse to Face with Douglas Batchelor Pt. 1 - Show Notes
Hine and Buckley are back for the first episode of season 2 and they've brought Douglas Batchelor along with them! Doug is the host and creator of the incomparable What Magic is This? - a podcast about Magic, the Occult, the Esoteric, the Paranormal, the Supernatural and the Weird and surely the single most frequently mentioned magical resource throughout the first season of Vayse. In the first part of this two-part, slightly giddy interview, the roots of Doug's magical life are revealed as he talks about how he graduated from being a disillusioned materialist teenager to a punk-rock chaos magician to a self-styled-necromantic-performative-ritual-magician with an awesome occult podcast. The conversation bounces around: from synchronicities to Bob Ross, from how to start your own magical practice to Hot Wheels skating gear, from podcasting as a work of magic to the psychic influence of the Lost Boys soundtrack... and all whilst Hine and Buckley try their best to uncover and assimilate the source of Doug's seemingly inexhaustible enthusiasm and positivity... Recorded 3 August 2023
Big thanks go to Doug for being so generous with his time and enthusiastic with sharing his knowledge - we were not expecting for this to be a double episode!!! And thanks as always to Keith for the show notes! Give Keith a follow on Twitter @peak_flow for electronic music and weird stuff.

In a triumphant finale to season 1 of Vayse, Hine and Buckley talk to one of their favourite mega-brains of the paraweirdpodosphere, Sequoyah Kennedy of the Nonsense Bazaar podcast. The conversation wanders into some favourite topics of the Nonsense Bazaar including Saint Germaine, To the Stars and the Lavenda agenda and then deep into more personal matters such as Sequoyah's self-guided magical practice, his encounters with supernatural beings and his love of freaky modular synths... (recorded 19 July 2023)
Thanks to Keith for the show notes which have, again, gone above and beyond the call of duty!

VYS0024 | Between Being Real and Not Real - Vayse to Face with Nathan Paul Isaac - Show Notes
Barely able to contain their excitement, Hine and Buckley welcome to Vayse the one and only Nathan Paul Isaac, creator of the essential chronicle of high strangeness in Somerset, Kentucky, the Penny Royal podcast. Penny Royal has been a huge influence on Vayse, and Hine and Buckley geek out as the conversation goes deep, wide and weird - from discussion of Penny-Royal-favourite topics such as cybernetics and synchronicity to pondering Hansen's trickster and theories on the nature of elementals and non-human intelligence by way of terrifying stories of faceless dream entities and a firm consensus on the importance of maintaining a healthy hatred of Nazis... and to sweeten the deal even more, Nathan drops a few breadcrumbs as to what kind of weird stuff to expect from Penny Royal season 3... Recorded 6 July 2023

VYS0023 | Mercurial, Mutable, Mysterious Something - Vayse to Face with Paul Weston - Show Notes
It's episode 23 and joining Hine and Buckley to pull that cosmic trigger is none other than author, researcher, lecturer and master of synchro-mysticism, Paul Weston. In the way that only Paul knows how, he spins a wonderful, breath-taking web of strange events, synchronicities and bizarre connections which all emerged in a single extremely powerful month in his home town of Glastonbury - How did he end up scattering Courtney Love's father's ashes in the centre of the Glastonbury Zodiac? How does that relate to a series of macabre and grisly murders? And how did the discovery of a swastika on the threshold of Dion Fortune's former residence trigger a waking-dream-proximity-alert? Paul also talks about how Cosmic Trigger is a psycho-active book (a trip he's taken 29 times!), how you can encourage synchronicities in your own life and how to deal with Chapel Perilous when your time comes... recorded 26 March 2023

VYS0022 | This Phenomena Draws You In - Vayse to Face with Steve Mera - Show Notes
Steve Mera is a prominent and well respected researcher in the realms of UFOlogy, Unexplained and the Supernatural, the head tutor for British & U.S. Investigators Training Courses in UfOlogical Studies and the CEO of Phenomena Magazine, the world’s largest paranormal e-zine. In this episode Hine and Buckley sit Steve down and pick his brains on a wide range weird stuff: the connection between UFOs and other manifestations of supernatural phenomena, the hitchhiker effect and the dangers of letting the phenomena into your life, the recent claims of whistle-blower David Grusch and how Steve took a punch to the back from a pugilistic poltergeist... recorded 8 June 2023

SideVayse: SVYS003 | Anglezarke - Show Notes
In VYS0018, Hine and Buckley interviewed author and researcher Kathryn J Preston about her book, the 'LaManChe Zodiac" in which she described a terrestrial zodiac spanning three counties in the north of England. At the heart of this zodiac is Round Loaf, a man-made Neolithic mound constructed millennia ago on the stark moorlands of Anglezarke. According to Kathryn Preston's book, Ley Lines radiate from the mound into the surrounding country and Anglezarke has become a hot spot for UFOs, sightings of cryptids and other high strangeness. In this SideVayse, friend of the show Ric Bennett, a life-long resident of the area, recounts some of his own strange encounters and takes Hine and Buckley on a guided tour of this weird and uncompromising landscape. Recorded 6 May 2023.

Darragh Mason is a podcasting hero to Hine and Buckley, he's the host of the truly excellent, award-nominated Spirit Box podcast but he's also an multi-award-winning photographer, a researcher specialising in the Djinn and the Aghori Hindu sect and the co-creator of the wonderful Sigil Engine. Darragh's latest project (one of many) is his up-coming book "Song of the Dark Man, Father of Witches" and this episode takes a deep and, at times, emotionally charged dive into the mysterious figure of the Dark Man, his prolific but largely unrecognised role in initiation into the world of witchcraft, his infrequent but significant appearances throughout folklore and his apparent ascent in the psychic aftermath of the pandemic... recorded 2 May 2023.

VYS0020 | Messages of Deception - Vayse to Face with Mark Pilkington - Show Notes
If you don't know Mark Pilkington by name, chances are you will be familiar with some of his work: he's the author of the seminal history of deception and misinformation throughout the history of the UFO phenomenon, Mirage Men, and producer of the documentary of the same name, he runs Strange Attractor Press, the diverse, beloved and well respected counterculture publisher, he's a journalist, having written for the Fortean Times, the Guardian and Bizarre Magazine amongst others, and he also records and performs music with Teleplamsiste, Luminous Foundation and the Begotten. In this episode Hine and Buckley chat to Mark about the legacy of Mirage Men, which is having a moment again with the tenth anniversary of the documentary falling this year, the recent release of the audiobook and continued favourable nods in the occultosphere and beyond. The conversation also takes turns into the way misinformation is now a pervasive part of our everyday lives, Mark's ideas about the nature of the phenomenon itself and his experiences as a crop circle hoaxer... recorded 7 March 2023

VYS0019 – It’s a Very, Very Mad World: Donnie Darko – Show Notes
In December 2002 Hine and Buckley met at the Dukes Cinema in Lancaster, Lancashire, UK, for what become one of their most cherished movie-going experiences - to watch an independent film which had already gathered a cult following: Donnie Darko. Donnie Darko is a divisive film popular opinion swings between it being a poignant and magical modern classic to it being amateurish, film school bullshit with an inexplicably great cast (and soundtrack!!!). In this feature length episode (an entire swaggering minute longer than the run-time of the theatrical cut itself!) Hine and Buckley drill down deep into why the film still means so much to them almost 21 years later, what Richard Kelly actually intended the film to mean, why it's actually a '90s masterpiece (despite not being set, made or released in the '90s) and what the "S" in "S. Darko" might stand for... Recorded 16 March 2023.
