  • Helping Veterans Plan Financially for Their Future with Army Veteran Scott Tucker
173: Helping Veterans Plan Financially for Their Future with Army Veteran Scott Tucker
What have you planned so far for your future? On today’s episode, Joe Crane talks about Helping Veterans Plan Financially for Their Future with Army Veteran Scott Tucker. Scott is the author of the upcoming book titled From Deployment to Dollars. He is also a thought leader, public speaker, and expert coach for military and veterans. Tune in to his story and know how he can help you live a life with intention!

“Transitioning out of the military is like experiencing a breakup. It changes the outlook of your future in such a way that you don't know what is next.” -Scott Tucker
    Life in Transition
Scott graduated from West Point. He served at all levels of the military, and was primarily stationed in Germany.

When he transitioned out, he decided to stay in the same country. Unfortunately, he did not properly prepare for it. As a result, he ended in a rut for some time.
The Importance of a Clear Perspective
While in Germany, Scott was able to build a network and did some sponsorships until he became quite successful. But he ended up building only a bunch of clientele.

He shares that his big mistake was thinking about working with just anybody. At the end of the day, however, he didn't serve anybody. This is why having a clear perspective of your ideal client is important.
    Living Beyond Borders
Scott eventually decided to move to San Francisco. He desired to go after what he really wanted. He wanted to explore the possibilities beyond Germany.

That required him to accept and own his situation. He shares that a career in the military also has its end. It will not be there for you forever.

172: Overcoming PTSD and TBI to Develop a Tour Guide Platform Alton Franco
On today’s episode, Joe Crane talks with Alton Franco about overcoming PTSD and TBI. Alton has only been in the Navy for some time when he became part of a suicide crash. Because of that, he lost his career and for the rest of his life suffered from PTSD and a traumatic brain injury. Now, he is going strong with his recent venture called Tag Your Tour Guide. Tune in!

"When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it’s not uncommon for their lives to unravel." -Lena Axelsson
    A Suicide Crash
Alton entered the Navy at the age of 19. He found it simple enough to keep up with the demands and procedures. His new life started when he got stationed to the Gulf.

He and his 3 shipmates became part of a suicide crash. Their taxi driver intentionally crashed the vehicle. The next thing he saw was the driver's face plastered against the glass.
    Suffering from PTSD
Alton spent some time to heal. In the process, however, he found himself suicidal and very violent. He suffered from a lot of pain.

For that, he was flown to Italy for physical and mental therapy. During that time, PTSD was just new. They did not know exactly how to deal with it.
    Life in Transition
Later on, Alton's military career ended. Although he was still used to being in the military, his condition hindered him from pursuing it.

He became pretty much confused, and just felt like being tossed around. Along with PTSD, unemployment proved to be no easy feat.

  • Your Business on Purpose with Scott Beebe
On today’s episode, Joe Crane talks about Business on Purpose with Scott Beebe. Scott is the Founder of Business on Purpose, a company that helps small business owners and organizational leaders to uncover what they cannot see in specific aspects in their business. Tune in to hear about his story, and learn how you too can advance with a purpose!

“Vision makes people run towards you or run away from you.” -Scott Beebe
    Experiences as Business Employee
Scott spent many years in the corporate world. He worked in sales while in college. But since he wanted to learn theology, he ended up graduating from a seminary.

He experienced working in a church for awhile. But, he dedicated more years working for a big pharmaceutical company. That’s where he was able to lead an NGO in Nigeria.
    Transition into Entrepreneurship
After years of work for the company, however, Scott lost his job. One of 9 board members went rogue. Since they did not like the hostile takeover, the 8 other board members resigned on the spot.

As a consequence, Scott’s role had to be dissolved as well. That ended his career in the corporate world. So, he flew back home and became an entrepreneur.

“To some people, that cross faith into entrepreneurialism is a great transition.” -Scott Beebe

Scott was uncertain if he’d have to courage to take the leap. According to him, people just need to be pushed in sometimes.
    A Special Gift to Share
He remembers the time he realized his gift. He has the special ability to see things which others cannot, just as his friend told him. However, it’s challenging to use such gift particularly when you are working for somebody else.

That limits the things you can do. For this, he shares the significance of having boundaries and freedom. There are risks involved.
