Does everything in your life feel urgent? If you find yourself saying “things will slow down after X is over” a lot of the time, but then when you stop to think about it, you realize that somehow your calendar stays perpetually full… and you are curious as to why this keeps happening, and if there is anything to really be done about this cycle, this episode is for you!
***Let's Stay Connected!***
Happy Valentine's Day, dear listeners!
Do you often find yourself believing that achieving a particular goal will bring you happiness?
Do you catch yourself thinking, "I'll be happier when..." or "I'll be more relaxed after I finish this project, or when my kids' soccer season is over, etc..."?
If you're aiming to lose a specific amount of weight, have you considered how you'll feel upon reaching that goal? Is it conceivable to generate those same feelings for yourself now, or along the journey to your goal?
In today's episode, we delve into the notion that our pursuit of a specific goal is often fueled by the anticipated emotional outcome it promises. This underlying motivation may not always be immediately apparent, but it invariably influences our actions.
The empowering truth is that we possess the ability to intentionally cultivate the emotions we desire. Our emotional state doesn't have to hinge on external conditions or circumstances. Rather, it's the thoughts we consciously attend to that mold the feelings we experience. Happiness, peace, gratitude—these, like all other emotions, stem from the thoughts we prioritize.
Let's Stay Connected!
When you’re so busy you barely have time to brush your teeth, it’s easy to overlook or brush off physical symptoms, or changes in your mood, relationships, behaviors and habits.
Today I discuss WHY we need to actually pay attention to these symptoms, and use them as clues to how we are really doing, how taxed our system is, and why it matters.
We are so used to putting ourselves last on the list. But this has short and long-term consequences for our physical, mental and emotional health.
I want you to believe that 2024 (i.e. NOW) is the year to prioritize yourself, turn your lens inward, invest time and energy in YOURSELF, and take it all in, with the support of a community of other women.... so you can live, parent, work, and BE your highest level self.
Today's episode is based on the research of Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, an internal medicine physician raising children. She found herself feeling continuously exhausted, even after prioritizing sleep and making sure she was getting more than the recommended amount every night. She researched rest and its various forms and our human needs and published some amazing guidelines and tips regarding the rest we all need and why it matters.
In this episode, discover the seven types of rest—physical, mental, sensory, emotional, social, creative, and cellular—and learn how each contributes to rejuvenating your mind, body, and soul. This will be especially helpful for busy working moms, for whom rest is often a pie in the sky idea.
From understanding the diverse forms of rest to exploring the seven types and where to consider starting for yourself, this episode provides actionable steps for listeners to initiate positive changes and prioritize their well-being.

Welcome to a new year and a new season of Vibrant Humans! Today, we're delving into the often elusive concept of rest. As working moms, we often find ourselves caught in the productivity trap, associating our self-worth with how much we accomplish in a day. Join me as we unravel the challenges we face in embracing intentional rest and explore five reasons why finding that crucial downtime can be so difficult.
We'll navigate through the distractions that perpetual busyness provides, the ingrained belief that we must earn our rest, and the lack of role models for healthy downtime. Unpacking the subconscious ties between worth and productivity, we'll also confront the false urgency driven by a scarcity mindset.
But fear not! This episode isn't just about challenges; it's about transformation. We'll discuss practical steps to shift our perspectives on rest, from questioning the constant hustle to challenging the false sense of urgency. Learn to say no with confidence, embrace the present, and understand that you are never behind.
So, take a moment for yourself, tune in, and let's explore how we can create a healthier relationship with rest. Remember, rest is not a luxury; it's a necessity. Join me on this journey toward intentional rest on Vibrant Humans.
Thank you for being a part of this episode, and remember – you don't have to earn your rest; you deserve it.
