Topic: Decision Making. We See Three Important Decisions Taken In The Book Of Ruth. We Can Learn Several Life Lessons.

Ruth chapter 1.

1st two verses:

If we read the book of Ruth we come to understand Elimelech and Naomi, Israelites are from the blessed land of the world, Bethlehem along with their two sons, Mahilon and Chilion. Bethlehem as we all know means, House of Bread. 🍞

I understand they were having wonderful and happy time with all their loved children of God (right fellowship) in Bethlehem. And everyone knew the family of Elimelech and Naomi. They were living a pleasant and joyful life befitting the name of Naomi.

But when there was a famine in the land of Bethlehem, Elimelech took a wrong decision and moved the family to a heathen nation, Moab.

They dwelled in the land of Moab for ten years. Elimelch died. And Mahilon and Chilion get married to Moabites. The end result, even the two sons died.

As I said, there are three major and important decisions taken by three characters in this book of Ruth.

The first one is the decision of Elimelech which we heard led them to devastation of the family and disaster.

The second is the decision of Naomi,

and the third decision is the Moabite woman, Ruth's decision.

Let us focus on the first decision, I.e Decision of Elimelech.

This family is from chosen generation of God. We too when we believed Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection, confessed and repented of our sins..

And rceived Jesus Christ as our Saviour we too enjoy the joy and peace and fiulness of life.

But, we too oftentimes err and move out of the sovereign boundaries God has laid for us. We know its wrong, and knowingly we take worldly, lust full and carnal decisions for monentory relaxation and momentary pleasure like how Elimelech did.

We too walk to a wrong place, dwell in a wrong place for years like how Elimelech and family lived for so many years in the cursed nation.

And many, we observe having tasted Christ but they see things which we are not supposed to see and gossip the carnal and worldly things, and move out like Elimelech from blessedness to defeat, failure, loss of the earlier joy, peace and happiness and reap wrong things of life.

One man's one wrong decision led to devastation of the entire family..

Tomorrow we will hear, God willing, the decision of Naomi who was in a state of saturated and meaningless and joyless life.

Lord help us to understand the wrong things we do, aspiring for wrong things of life though might give us momentary pleasure, at one point. And help us to realise that we cannot enjoy them always. Even worldly pleasures are like shadows we cannot enjoy fully like how this family faced.

Therfore, help us to take right decisions so that we enjoy joy, peace, your presence and fulness of life even when we have no energy in later years of life....

Topic: Why Decision Making Is Sooo Important In Our Lives? It Is Either Building Us Up Or Breaking Down Our Character.

Daniel 1:8 & 11. But Daniel made up his mind not to eat the food and wine given to them by the king. But he asked for only vegetables and water.

Daniel's decision was a tough, delicate, challenging and most importantly a costly decision.

He took a decision to refrain from taking special rich food and Wine 🍷. He took another decision to take vegetables and water....

We avoid to take costly decisions in life and make shortcuts, and burn our fingers later...

Well our life either moves forward Or backward based on decisions we make in our day to day life.

Good decisions will progress us and move us forward.

Bad or wrong decisions will take us backward, derail us and harm us too.

Indecision will keep you there stagnant while others of your peer group keep moving forward and higher.

We make so many choices and decisions of life. Some are very important 'life time decisions'.

For eg. A student who passed her or his 10th class exam has to take a decision based on his or her liking and strength, to join intermediate college. Wat they choose determines what they would like to become.

Another choice, Employment. Which job to take?

Another decision, Marriage? Whom to marry?

There is a familiar quote regarding Marriage. "By all means if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad wife, you'll become a philosopher."

The decisions we make demonstrate our values. A good leader will make right and positive decisions.

John Maxwell, an American author, speaker and pastor who wrote several books, primarily focusing on leadership says, "Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you."

As a christian when we honor God through our decisions, God will grant us a favour and will make a happy and perfect way for us.

There are several examples where God blessed them who honored God with their decisions, and God's favour has taken them to the pinnacle of unexpected glory and blessings.

All of us face 100s of decisions to make in our life. What decisions we take every day will either prosper us with His favour and blessings or destroy us.

This is a quote which I always quote when I share with all. Irrespective of who we are - student, or aspiring to get a job, rich, poor, strong, weak, Pastor, teacher, working in a company, old age, middle age or youth this quote is a fact and truth and no one can deny it -

"What you are today is the choices that you made till yesterday; what you will be tomorrow will be the choice you make today."

Let us understand from the quote, there is still bright future still ahead. Not Everything is lost. The decisions you make TODAY will make your tomorrow."

Any decision we take, we ought to think within us, "is this decision that I make brings honor or dishonor to God?"

Tomorrow we will see how some men and women of God who took some costly and challenging decisions and how God honored them.

Help us Lord to fill our lives with thy divine Word fully so that thy Word guides us perfectly to take correct and godly decisions in life....

Topic: Life Lessons We Learn From The Life Of Abigail.

I Samuel chapter 25.

Today is the last devotion on the story of Nabal, David and Abigail. We have been meditating last few days on the topic - *"Not all battles are worth fighting."* We need to choose which we ought to fight and which to leave to God Almighty.

After the advice and counsel of Abigail, David hearkened to her wise words and stopped that fight. Some battles when we fight, if its not right and good, it might boomerang on us.

It's better to handover such battles to the Lord than we fighting it and spoiling our name and image.

The Lord fights such battles when we leave it to Him and He takes vengeance.

The next day morning when the wine was gone out of Nabal, Abigail told what has happened and how David was about to kill you him and all his servants, m and how she intervened. His heart stopped and it became like a stone. And after 10 days Lord Himself smote Nabal, that he died.

Lesson we learn is, we take such fights emotionally on our own hands and lose our energy, strength and more importantly our name, instead of allowing God to handle such injustice and harsh treatment meted to us by others.

Abigail is the only Hebrew woman mentioned in the Bible who was intelligent as well as beautiful to look at.

What lessons we can learn from the life of Abigail?

1.

*Don't allow fear to hold you back to take decisions and move forward.*

Abigail lost no time to act swiftly and fought the battle to protect her husband and servants.

Oftentimes the irony is, we know it is right and perfect to act but in fear of what happens and what people think if we fail, we don't act. And so we don't grow.

Like Abigail, we need to use wisdom and be bold to act swiftly and not sit on it.

2.

*Our words and actions need to be humble but confident and bold.*

But mostly we panic for everything bcause we are unsteady.

Abigail's words were humble but bold and courageous. She said, "You fight the Lord's battles my Lord. Let no wrong doing be found in you as long as you live." Not only words of counsel but of courage.

3.

*God will fight for you. You are never alone.*

God fights our battles when we are trustworthy to Him like Abigail. Most of the fights we fight are God's battles. We don't have to fight and spoil our health and name.

God fought for Abigail just as He faithfully fights for us even today. He did not leave Abigail on her own but gave her a great favour in the sight of David.

Help us Lord to be wise and bold to choose right battles to fight.

And help us to be open for correction if someone advises us in the right perspective. And humble enough to take their godly advise even if they are much lower than us....

Topic: Good Looking Beatiful God Fearing And Angelic Abigail With Divine Wisdom Thwarted David In Comitting Murder And Bloodshed.

David in flesh chose and was trying to fight a wrong battle to kill Nabal & his men.

We have seen last two days wicked Nabal's provocation. And David with His 400 men who was on the way to Nabal's place to take vengeance and wipe away Nabal and his men and cattle.

His emotions, his anger, his thirst to avenge has closed his spiritual eyes and ears too. He was unable to hear the soft voice of Christ because he opened his heart to the voices of flesh - vioilence, anger, vengeance and blood shed.

As he was fast approaching Nabal's place, meanwhile someone from the camp of Nabal goes and tells Nabal's wife, Abigail about David's plan to kill her husband and everyone there.

We see the character of Abigail mentioned in verse 3 of 1 Sam. Chapter 25. She was intelligent and woman of good understanding, good looking and of a beautiful countenance.

On hearing David's plan and approaching to kill her husband, Nabal, she makes haste and took loaves, wine🍷, dressed sheep, corn, cakes of figs and tells her servants to go before her.

A woman of wisdom and understanding will always have the wisdom to be loving, caring and gracious in her words and never provoking and igniting fights.

Woman who have wisdom of God will always be not only gracious and tender, but bold and courageous to speak out. They will build, comfort and guide boldly. This is what exactly Abigail did when she met David with her servants.

She was very humble but at the same time bold and courageous to encourage David not to commit blood shed and murder and blot his holy and blemishless life with this sin and blunder. She encouraged him to move out of this plot and fight, and boldly guided him, counseled him and even admonished him graciously. You can read from verses 23 to 31. All these were more than Gold, and golden letters piecred into David's heart.

I would pray all the woman - young and old who have the desire to grow and be blessed to be a blessing to your family, among relatives and friends and peer groups, women and men too, we need to emulate her beautiful and divine qualities. And her words of encouragement, right guidance to David boldly, her advice and even admonishing gently a man of great stature like David. And how she opened David's spiritual eyes, spiritual ears and a change of heart and repentance.

Would you like to hear what David said after the inspiring counsel of Abigail? Pl turn with me to verses 32 to 35. He was totally a transformed person. He came to senses.

David said to Abigail, *"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel who sent thee this day to meet me.*

*And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou which has kept me this day from coming to shed blood, kept me from murdering and carrying out vengeance with my own hands.*

*I swear by the Lord God of Israel who has kept me from hurting you, that if you had not come out to meet me, Nabal and all his men would not have been alive tomorrow morning."*

Then David accepted her gifts and told Abigail that she hearkened to her voice and told her to go without fear.

If you are like an Abigail. Praise God. If you are a provoker, separating people? Bringing friction all through your life? Doesn't matter. It's never too late. Be an Abigail from today and discourage stupid and silly fights in flesh like Abigail, and not be a provoker like Jezebel.

Lord, thank Lord for the sweet and beautiful life of Abigail. She was not only beautiful to look at, and her countenance, but even more beautiful in her heart. Thank Lord, for her counsel and gracious advice which thwarted murder and blood shed by David....

Help us to have thy wisdom to be like the beautiful and blessed Abigail in the years to come...

Topic: Mot All The Battles Are Worth Fighting. - 3. David In His Flesh Chose To Fight The Wrong Battle With Nabal.

Yesterday we discussed, David has requested politely Nabal on the day of feast to handover whatever he feels to His men as his men protected Nabal's sheep many times from the raids of his enemies. He did not demand any specific payment but politely reminded Nabal of the traditions of generosity during harvest and feast time.

We heard Nabal provoked David with ruthless and provoking words. 1 Sam 25: Verses 10 to 12.

Here we see David on hearing these words did not wait on the Lord. But, reacted hastily asking their men to gird on their swords and went with 400 men.

His thoughts of revenge, hatred and vengeance was all over him when he felt insulted, humiliated and riducled by the rich and crude Nabal.

If we read 22 verse NIV. David said,

",May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning I leave one male of all who belong to Nabal."

We see in case of king Saul he showed love, kindness and forgiveness to Saul though David knows Saul made so many attempts to Kill him. Here we see David showed divine and godly nature.

But in this case David reacts in natural and 100% in flesh and carnal way, and not giving any chance for God to intervene. His divine and godly nature was missing.

He could not hold his anger. Thirsty to take revenge and to commit blood shed. Love, forgiveness and kindness towards those who hate and malign him was missing.

He was unable to digest the provoking and insulting words of Nabal. He Chose to fight the wrong battle which was against God's will. No place was there for God to intervene as his heart was filled with vengeance and to wipe out Nabal and all his men.

His emotions overpowered God's divine nature and his own will took centre stage instead of God's will. We too behave the same way like David and even worst than David sometimes.

There is a carnal feeling and fight within always saying, "If I don't defend myself from injustice, if I don't stand up myself and fight, if I don't justify myself, I become inferior and weak. If by any reason we don't defend ourselves, it portrays a picture that we are at fault."

So, like David, we react in natural and carnal way and choose often wrong battles to fight instead of divine way. Thus causing unnecessary worries, anxiety, peaceless and sleepless nights, loss of health and importantly fighting battles which we are not supposed to fight.

Tomorrow we will see which Angel averted David From comiting blood shed and revenge.

Topic: Not All The Battles Are Worth Fighting - 2. Rich, Proud And Crude Nabal Provoked David To Fight With Him.

Our obedience is never complete and over. I learnt something recently. *Obedience is progressive.* We may be great Preachers, Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, Church leaders, Youth Leaders, Sunday School Teachers, or Born Again children of God, we ought to remember, we all, let me emphasis, we all fumble and fall at some point of time or the other. And even now and then too.

We ought to rise from such falls and not remain there. Sometimes when we err, we need to humble ourselves to listen to those who are lower than our Spiritual personality. We can learn ftom David, how he picked up a fight in flesh and emotions have controlled David over divine nature.

The theme and the story which I share will continue for the next two days. My request, Pl listen to these devotions in continuation so that you can understand it better.

I would request and like all the viewers to kindly read and meditate 1 Sam. 25th chapter which I share with you in brevity in the next 2 to 3 days.

We see in verse 2. There was a man whose possessions were in Carmel. And verse says, nan was very great having three thousand sheep and a thousand goat.

Verse 3 in ESV, it says, he was crude and mean in all things. His name was Nabal.

As they were having a feast, David sends his young men and request a portion of their celebrations to give to them. As his men protected Nabal sheep many times from harm and danger.

But, Nabal provoked David and his men in verse 10 saying, "Who is David? ... there may be many servants who break away from his master. He was provoking David as he was running away from his master and king, Saul.

Please do not mistake me. Not ALL but many rich and wealthy people even in today's world who are blessed by God are selfish and possessive. Their hands and fists are always closed and they are never givers forgetting God blessed them. Like Nabal often times our wealth and riches take control of our life and words, conduct and behaviour.

We must take heart, there are also few rich and wealthy who have a kind, humble, gentle heart and their words are always laced with grace, comforting and always helpful and givers liberally. Their hands and fist is ever open to bless others.

In the next devotion we will see and hear what David did when he heard the words of Nabal and what happened to Nabal subsequently.

Help us Lord to introspect always irrespective who we are, to be humble, kind, gracious in our words and to have our words of grace kindness unlike this wealthy Nabal who was rude and mean to David's men. ....

Topic: Not Every Battle Is Worth Fighting. We Must Walk Away From Silly And Stupid Fights To Focus On Our Destiny.

The battles that do not take us to our destiny we must refrain.

2 Chron 20:15. Thus saith the Lord. "The battle is not yours, but God's."

Life is a continuous battle of one thing or the another. However if we carefully choose which battle to fight and which not to fight will determine our success or failure.

Knowing when to walk away is wisdom and courage, maturity and strength.

Walking away avoiding silly fights with our head held high is dignity.

Fear and Anxiety, sleepless nights and loss of peace happens in this world for many, because they choose to fight battles which are not worth fighting nor winning.

These battles that are not worth fighting may emerge from within homes, relatives, extended families, friends' circle and neighbours, work place, churches and other social gatherings.

Oftentimes when we move away or walk away from such battles, it does not mean that we are weak, but more matured enough..

It's not that 'if we don't defend ourselves, if we don't stand up for ourselves, if we don’t justify ourselves we become inferior and weak.

Yes, to the world to an extent it might look. But in the society overall such people will emerge more matured and more stronger morally and ethically and with greater respect.

You may have the golden opportunity, you may have the ability and capability to win, but God's point of view if it's to walk away from it, then, it has greater blessing and his divine plan will be established to reach the right destiny.

Today we will see two instances wherein we see David walked away or moved away from battles though he would have easily won both. But he had the humility, wisdom and maturity to walk away without fighting.

Saul had a continuous fight with David to kill him. David had the golden opportunity to kill king Saul in the cave and become king he was destined. But David walked away and moved away from fighting and killing Saul. Saul himself was later killed and David became king.

Absalom, David's own son revolted and prepared himself to fight his iwn father, David.

David, with his ability and trusted army, he would have easily defeated Absalom, But David chose not to fight the battle and fled to another place. At that time world might have thought David was weak and scared and so he was running away. But David chose a divine path not to fight the battle. The end result? Absalom died on his own as his hair was caught up to a tree and was killed eventually.

Give us your wisdom Lord to avoid the battles that do not take us to the right destiny. And help us to choose to fight the battles that enlarge and build your kingdom. ..

Topic: Whatever We Say Or Ask In Faith Will It Be Answered Or Fulfilled?

In Mark 11:23 Jesus said, "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says."

What does it means? It doesn't mean anything you ask of course in faith also, it may be answered. Sometimes it may not.

Word of God is clear, we must be led by the Spirit and not by our flesh. Many times when people hear about the importance and the power in their words, they speak from the lusts of their hearts rather than speaking the will of God. We cannot use our words as a formula. It's simply doesn't work. We need to ask because there is a genuine need, there is a purpose to give God glory. For eg. Sickness..

What I feel based on the Word is, anything we ask which builds us for our good and to build His Kingdom with an unselfish motive, He certainly answers our "faith prayers."

We must exercise faith and not fear and doubts. Because of fear and doubts our prayers oftentimes are not answered.

When Jesus was here on the earth, the Bible tells us that He spoke to the winds and sea and they obeyed Him. He didn't act fearful. He didn't panic. He simply spoke to the wind and sea and said, "Be still!" He believed what He said would come to pass. He knew His authority and He spoke in faith. What He said happened.

If we read all of this story in Mark chapter 4, we will see that immediately after the sea calmed down, Jesus spoke to his disciples who were in the boat with Him. It's very interesting what He said. He said, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"

Ephesians 5:1 tells us to be imitators of God as children imitate their parents. Jesus should be our example. We are to live as He lived. He walked in faith and we are to walk in faith. He spoke words of faith and we are to speak words of faith. Words of doubt and unbelief have no place in the mouth of the Christian.

But as I shared, what we ask or pray ought to bless us to bring glory to Him and His will to be fulfilled in our lives.

Help us Lord to use thine divine words and promises to calm the raging storms in our lives and to bless ourselves with a desire to be a blessing to others. .....

Topic: Spreading Words Of Encouragement And Hope..

Christian life is the season of hope 24x7. I hope these devotions bring hope and encouragement to cultivate spiritual growth for all of us to flourish, in renewal, revival and guidance from the Lord.

Ephesians 4:29.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” —

There’s no doubt that people need encouragement. The Bible tells us to encourage one another and build each other up. This means we should use our words to honor God by showing love and care towards others.

There are some people in this world we observe - their talk is always warm, encouraging and comforting. Their words of encouragement rekindle hope and strength to the drooping shoulders. Associating with such people changes the course of life.

There are also some people in this world whose words are always hurtful and grievous which hurts others and provokes them to anger, wrath and loss of mental and physical health too. Relationships are always severed.

Have you ever had someone tell you something and it changed your whole day? Or maybe, someone told you something that changed the course of your life? Perhaps, it was just some encouraging words on a hard day or may be someone shared their story or life experience. Words are powerful tools to change our outlook on life for both better and worse.

Some simple examples of words of encouragement include:

“You’re doing a great job with this! Keep it up!"

“I know things have been tough lately, but you have not given up. That's really great”

“Thank you for all your efforts. My sincere appreciation."

Lord, help us to remember you created us to live in intimate connection with one another. We are wired to need one another, and we are most courageous in the context of community. Help us to be the voice of encouragement in the lives of our others, especially those who need encouragement. Remind us we are each made in your image, and therefore we are each a masterpiece in progress. Give us your grace to uplift others by all means...

Topic: True Transformation! We Can Learn From The Life Of Mary Magdalene What Exactly True Transformation Means....

What I learnt from the life of Mary Magdalene is, nothing is waste when we spend quality time in the presence of the Lord. Everything has a price tag. The time we spend has a price tag and bearing. What we long for and spend time for, is what we get.

Oftentimes very unfortunate to note, transformation is mostly in bits and pieces and so we get the reward too in bits and pieces.

If we desire to know what exactly repentance and transformation means we can draw from the life of this woman of God.

As we all know there are lot of Marys mentioned in the Bible. The Mary we are discussing now is from the city of Magdala, and she is thus called as Mary Magdalene.

If we read Luke 8: 1-3. And the twelve disciples were with Jesus, and also certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom seven devils were cast out. We can also read in Mark 16:9.

John 19:25. Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, Mary, His mother's sister ..., and Mary Magdalene.

Her conversion or rather transformation I find it very inspiring.

John's gospel tells us she was one of the woman present at the crucifixion.

After the death of Jesus came the true colors. Everyone including all His disciples were afraid of Jews and were hiding indoors.

Let us see now what Mary Magdalene did. If we read together few verses ftom John 20th chapter. 1st verse, "The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away."

What I perceive is, Mary Magdalene probably did not sleep that night. Yet, it was dark, she ran to the sepulchre.

If we see the preceding verses, she doesn't walk, it says, she runneth to Simon Peter and other disciple to tell them that tomb is empty. Both the disciples come and see and find it empty, and they returned back home.

But, Mary stood at the sepulchre weeping. As we know the story, Jesus appears to Mary. But, she doesn't recognise. Then Jesus Calls her, "Mary." The joy in her at the moment I feel cannot be explained nor expressed.

The blessings she received for her longingness or for her persistent desire to know about Christ whereabouts are:

1.

She was the first human being and the first woman and not the disciples to see Jesus after ressurection.

2.

She was the first person to whom Jesus spoke...

3.

She happen to be the first person to share the gospel of miracle to His disciples and the world..

What we can learn from her life?

1.
