Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss Self-Motivating Tips to Achieve Success in life.

    Self-Motivating Tips to Achieve Success

How much of your time do you spend seeking motivation from external factors? How often do you get it and how long does it last?

Your typical experience is probably that external motivation has an expiration date. You can look at a successful person and feel motivated by their success. But what happens when you aren’t able to achieve similar success in short order?

Luckily, there are certain strategies you can apply in order to motivate yourself!

Make the following exercises a part of your daily regimen:

    * Love the person in the mirror. Every morning provides the opportunity for you to accept who you are! It’s absolutely important to love who you are and what you’ve become. That’s the first step in being self-motivated.* Reaffirm your true love for the person you see each and every morning.* Remind yourself that you’re here for a bigger mission of which you might not yet be aware.* Restore the peace of mind that comes with self-acceptance. Doing this every day allows it to be engrained in your soul.

    * Accept your stage in life. Believe that you’re exactly where you should be at every moment. Your ability to accept that things happen in their own time will make you comfortable with what you’ve already achieved.* Bear in mind that being comfortable where you are doesn’t mean you can’t strive for greater success.* Knowing that you’ve done your best to get where you are is enough to keep pushing you forward.* Every few days, write a list of things you’ve achieved, whether big or small. Combine them at the end of the month and take an overall look at your awesomeness!* Surround yourself with positive energy. Positive energy can come from the things you choose to do. It can also come from the people you surround yourself with. When you’re surrounded by positive energy, you can’t help but maintain positivity!* Watch movies that empower and uplift you.

    * Do things with your friends that build encouragement.

    * Put yourself in situations where you’ll come out the other end smiling.* Help others from the goodness of your heart. Avoid helping for personal gain or recognition. When you help others and see the positive impact, you naturally feel better about yourself.* One helpful act with a positive outcome is usually very inspiring. Seeing the difference you can make in others’ lives proves that you’re pretty awesome!* Knowing that you’re important to someone else’s well-being can make you feel worthwhile. It encourages you to keep helping.* Focus on smaller goals. Reaching for and missing broad, unrealistic goals can be very de-motivating. When you’re unreasonable with your capabilities, you end up feeling disappointed when you miss the mark.* Why not break your major goal into smaller, tangible ones? You’ll be able to focus on one part at a time, with each part being another step closer to success!* Celebrate whenever you achieve a goal – large or small. Proving to yourself that you can do it motivates you to keep going.

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 6 Shortcuts to Motivation and Desire.

    6 Shortcuts to Motivation

Motivation and desire are nice to have when you need them. But what can you do when you need them and they’re in short supply? You can generate your own enthusiasm. You don’t have to wait to be inspired. Inspiration is in your hands. Like any other skill, you can learn to be motivated and full of desire on demand.

Learn to motivate yourself and get those challenging things done:

    * Keep your purpose in mind. If you require motivation to do something, there must be a reason for doing it. Keep that reason in the front of your mind. Are you dieting to fit into a special dress for your high school reunion? Are you learning to play the piano so you can sing Christmas carols around the fire with your family?

Enjoy this Podcast on 6 Shortcuts to Motivation

More on 6 Shortcuts to Motivation

    * Set appropriate goals. Goals that are too small aren’t motivating. Goals that are too big are overwhelming. The perfect goal will excite you without overwhelming you. Goals are an excellent motivation tool. If your goals aren’t exciting, you have some work to do.

    * Remind yourself of your goals each day. Set aside a specific time to review your goals. Read your goals aloud and visualize your success. Imagine how you’ll feel when your goal is reached.

    * Pay attention to your progress toward your goals. Nothing motivates like success. Whether you’re motivating yourself to do a better job at work or to stay on top of the clutter at home, notice your success and be proud. You deserve it.Take breaks. One effective way to destroy your motivation and desire is to work non-stop. Take regular breaks and keep your motivation high. Studies find that most people do well with a 10-15-minute break each hour.* Have gratitude. It’s easy to feel down when you’re struggling and focused on what you don’t have. Remind yourself of all the people and things you already have in your life. When you have gratitude, your mood and desire will improve. Spend just a few minutes each day and mentally list all the things and people in your life that allow you to feel grateful.

    * Find a form of external motivation. Some people can generate motivation and desire through internal means. Others need external pleasure or pain to generate enthusiasm. There are several ways to do this.

    * Tell others what you’re trying to accomplish. Once people know your business, they’ll be busy watching and judging you. Did you say you’re never going to drink another can of soda again? It will be difficult to bring yourself to do it in front of others again.* Promise yourself a reward. Once you get that promotion, take yourself to Hawaii. Or get a new wardrobe when you lose 25 lbs. Make your reward something that’s meaningful to you.Punish yourself. Cheat on your diet? Give $10 to a charity you don’t like. Late to work again? Throw out your favorite pair of shoes. While we don’t like to admit it, humans are often more driven by pain than by pleasure. This can be an effective way to keep yourself motivated if you can follow through on your threat to yourself.

When all else fails, get started. A little action can bring about motivation.

  • Time or Energy Management – Warrior Mind Podcast #606

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the difference between Time Management vs Energy Management.

    Time Management vs Energy Management

Many of us are all too aware of time management. It seems that there just aren’t enough hours in the day and, as such, we feel the considerable need to make the most of the time we have.

There’s nothing wrong with that in theory. It’s commendable to want to make the most from our day and to achieve as much as possible. The issue, however, is that in many cases, we overlook something that is arguably even more important: energy management.

You Don’t Have Enough Time… Really?

Many of us feel as though we’d like to have more time in the day and that we could accomplish a whole lot more if we did.

What would you do with an extra ten minutes?

    * Maybe you’d start a home business.

    * Maybe you’d work out and get into incredible shape.

    * Maybe you’d just keep the kitchen tidy.

But you probably already have all the time you need.

Enjoy this Podcast on Time Management vs Energy Management

More on Time Management vs Energy Management

Think back to the week you had. Was there any point at which you weren’t being 100% productive?

    * Maybe it was when you were flicking through Facebook.

    * Maybe it was when you watched that 20-minute YouTube video that you really didn’t need to watch.

    * Or maybe it was when you binged on four episodes of Game Of Thrones back-to-back.

In other words, you had plenty of time, but you just didn’t make the most of it. And most of us are like this.

And why didn’t you make the most of it? Simple: because you ran out of energy.

Everyone knows that time is limited, but they forget that energy is limited too.

    Energy is Finite

This belief that we can do as much as we want to, as long as we can fit it into our day, is responsible for a lot of unfulfilled goals and ambitions.

Consider how many people plot a new training program. Often, they will start out by identifying they want to get into better shape (so far so good). Next, they decide they are going to follow a training program that consists of 5 workouts a week, each lasting about an hour (oh dear). What’s more, is that they do this while eating less.

The reason they were probably out of shape is that they didn’t have the energy to commit to being more active in the first place. Being stressed and tired likewise caused them to want to eat more things that weren’t conducive to weight loss.

So now, they intend to go from that, to adding four hours(7 if you add driving to the gym, showering, and more) of exertion, while having less energy in the form of food to help power them through it!

Geez, why do you think that doesn’t work?

    The Solution

The solution is to recognize this finite nature of energy and to realize that you needto dedicate some of your time to resting and recovering.

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss how to Build Your Self-Esteem By Conquering Challenges.

Building Your Self-Esteem By Conquering Challenges

Do you feel as though you’re in a rut?  Does nothing feel engaging or entertaining?  When you want to make sure you’re still in the right direction and you don’t want to settle for a mundane life, you’ll discover that you need to start challenging yourself.

When you take on a challenge headfirst, you’re forcing yourself to grow. When your self-esteem needs a boost, challenging yourself can help you see yourself in a new light.

Enjoy this Podcast on how Build Your Self-Esteem By Conquering Challenges

More on How Build Your Self-Esteem By Conquering Challenges

What Kind of Challenges Should I Pursue?

No matter what type of challenge you undertake, don’t assume you’re going to get started on it “sometime soon.” Think about what steps you need to take to get there today.  Whether it involves making some phone calls or getting some certifications, make some time to get it done as soon as possible.

    * If you have the desire to start a new career, call a career counselor for guidance or the local university for class schedules.* If you challenge yourself to achieve better health, call a nutritionist or the local gym for rates and advice.* If you always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument, call the music store to inquire about lessons or rental fees.

Don’t delay when something is this important but remember that moving slowly is much better than not moving at all.  When you want to make sure you’re achieving the results that you deserve, you’ll discover that choosing to move at all is a big step.

Practice Setting Goals and Holding Yourself Accountable

Another way you can start conquering small challenges is by setting some achievable goals.  For instance, say you want to improve your writing skills.  Then set yourself a goal to write at least a paragraph a day. It’s a simple, realistic goal that will help you improve your skills.

It’s very likely that you will become more productive when you have a limited amount of time to accomplish your simple challenge. So if you only have 15 minutes to concentrate on your challenge, then make the best use of it and simply focus your energy on making it the most productive 15 minutes of your day.

    Measure Your Progress Regularly

In order to build your self-esteem, you regularly need to see how far you’ve come.  Make sure you keep track of your progress on a regular basis.

    * Keep a diary that lists all you’ve accomplished in the day.* Keep a list of all books you read last month.* Keep a weight journal to track how many pounds you’ve lost.

Over time, you’ll find that this is a great way to keep yourself moving forward.  Looking at past progress is a great way to replicate your success, so keep note of how far you’ve come.

    The Power of Numbers

If you’re struggling to challenge yourself, remember that you can get someone else to work with you.  Do you have any goals that you and your loved ones share?

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss How to Rejuvenate Yourself After Burnout

How to Rejuvenate Yourself After Burnout

If you’ve recently suffered burnout, you’ll likely be looking for ways to restore your peace, health, and happiness. It’s important to treat yourself lovingly after such a trauma to your system so you don’t develop chronic health conditions.

Burnout can cause all sorts of mental and emotional issues, including anxiety and depression. You should try to recognize the signs that lead to burnout, but this may not always be possible. If you concentrate on restoring yourself after burnout, you can avoid these issues and get your true self back.

Consider these burnout tips to help you regain your strength:

    * Find a new direction. The best, most permanent, way of dealing with burnout is to focus on making sustainable life changes. Ask yourself whether or not you’re happy in your current situation. Perhaps it’s time to make a major life shift, such as a new career or downsizing your home.* Take a break. It’s best to get away from the situation that has caused you to burn out. This may mean going out for a walk and getting away for a few hours, or it may mean giving yourself a full blown vacation.* You don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of money for a vacation. Your goal is to relax and clear your mind. You can certainly do this at home or in your local community.

More on How to Rejuvenate Yourself After Burnout

    * Solve the problem. If you’re currently in the middle of a stressful situation, take action to solve the problem right away as best as you can. Consider the possible solutions to the problem and ask for help from others if necessary.

    * Gain control. Take control of the situation where possible. Realize that you can solve your problems and you’re not doomed to remain in this state forever. Also, have the wisdom to accept that there are situations that are beyond your control.* Do what you can to improve your situation, but avoid worrying about the things out of your control.

    * Be open and honest. Sometimes it’s best to set your pride aside and ask for help when you need it. Open up about the issues you’re facing with a close friend or relative. If that’s not an option for you, seek the help of a counselor.

    Stress Management

If burnout tends to be a common occurrence for you, it would be in your best interest to start studying some stress management techniques.

There are certain things you can do to combat stress:

    * Don’t take on too much at work or at home.* Remember that you can – and should – tell people “no.”* Make time for yourself.* Ask for help from others.

    Know Your Warning Signs

Once you’ve suffered burnout, you’ll certainly want to know how you can avoid a similar situation in the future. Study the factors that led to burnout, and identify your mistakes so you can avoid making them again in the future.

  • Stop Waiting On Your Life – Warrior Mind Podcast #603

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to encourage you to Stop Waiting On Your Life and get after it!

    Stop Waiting On Your Life

This week I was sitting on the phone with tech support, and over and over again, I thought of things I could have done while I sat there — waiting — not living my life.

Are you “on hold” in your life?

Are you waiting for a spouse to come along, waiting on the motivation to get your home organized, waiting on a great job to fall into your lap, waiting on winning the lottery to plan your retirement?  Stop waiting on your life!  The only difference between you and the people who are getting what they want, is that they kept moving and you didn’t.  Here are some ideas to help get you started again.

    1. Focus on the who, not the what

If you find that you’ve been stuck in a goal for a while, try restarting it in “who am I” terms instead of “what I want” terms.  For example, instead of saying “I want to lose 30 lbs.”, say “I am someone who takes care of herself by keeping my weight around XXX which is a healthy range for my height and age.”  Be as specific as possible.  Notice that “I want to be someone who helps others” could mean anything from a clerk in the grocery store to a heart surgeon.  Focus on who you want to be.  Then ask yourself what actions would be fit with your desire “to be” instead of “get”.

Enjoy this Podcast on Stop Waiting On Your Life

More on Stop Waiting On Your Life

    2. Analyze it

Did you know that a full 80% of your problems come from 20% of your life?  It’s true!  Determine what that 20% is that’s affecting so much of your life, and start working to make it happier, more efficient, more satisfying.

    3. Assign Value

A big mistake I see in my coaching clients is not assigning a true value to your time, to your energy, to your money, and to the “real estate” (space) of your home or office.  Realize that for each thing you say yes to- a pair of shoes or watching a movie-  you have said no to something else.  Always ask yourself – is this valuable enough to me to crowd my life with, or even to bump something else from my closet, my schedule, my money?

  • 6 Keys to Greater Self-Discipline – Warrior Mind Podcast #602

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 6 Keys to Greater Self-Discipline for personal success and peak performance.

    6 Keys to Greater Self-Discipline

We all believe we could use at least a little more self-discipline. It can mean the difference between the success and failure of a diet. Self-discipline allows us to pick up that guitar and put in two hours of practice each day.

Those with great self-discipline can rely less on talent and luck. They create their own talent and luck. Developing self-discipline is like building a muscle. If you have very little today, you’re not going to have a lot next week. But that doesn’t mean you can’t develop a tremendous amount over time!

Apply these 6 keys for greater self-discipline:

    1. Do tasks immediately. We all tend to put things off until we feel like doing them. That is exactly the opposite of self-discipline. The idea of self-discipline is doing what needs to be done, in spite of whether you feel like it or not.

Enjoy this Podcast on 6 Keys to Greater Self-Discipline

More on 6 Keys to Greater Self-Discipline

    2. Start small. If your level of self-control is low, it’s almost impossible to improve it dramatically overnight. Start with something small.

    * Perhaps you could start with brushing and flossing twice a day, every single day. Instead of starting an exercise routine of 90 minutes per day, start with 15 minutes.

    3. Carry a task to completion. Most of us will stop an unpleasant task just before completion. We’ll wash all the dishes, except for that big, greasy frying pan. We mow the grass, but we’ll save the trimming for another day. We clean 90% of the garage, but that last 10 % gets put off until next weekend, and then the next, and so on.

    * As a point of personal honor, consider completing all tasks. Get in the habit of finishing what you start. When you start a task that you should be able to complete within a day, finish it. You’ll discover that attitude will carry over to a lot of other areas of your life.

    4. Learn to work through negative feelings.

feelings are what really stop us. We think about doing something and get that nauseating feeling in the pit of our stomach. But these feelings don’t have to stop you from taking action. Just acknowledge the discomfort and act anyway. In time, it will go away.

    5. Create artificial time pressure. Set a deadline for yourself and use it to your advantage. Along the same lines, a simple timer can be handy to keep you on track each day. Time pressure is very effective at helping many people to focus.

    6. Use your breaks wisely. While it can vary from person to person, for most people, studies have shown that a 10-minute break every hour can improve productivity.

    * Get up and get a drink of water. Make a short phone call. Avoid getting distracted by something really enjoyable.

    * That video game can easily stretch into 30 minutes or more. Watching YouTube videos can lead to the same result. Your break should be a break, but it shouldn’t be entertainment. Avoid letting your breaks distract you from the work at hand.

Self-discipline is an infinitely valuable quality that you can use to great advantage. In most cases, you know what you need to do to be successful.

  • 7 Steps To Achievable Goals – Warrior Mind Podcast #601

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 7 Steps To Achievable Goals for personal success and peak performance.

    7 Steps To Achievable Goals

    1. What is a goal?

A goal is a target which is achievable in measurable attainable steps. It is more than just a desire or a need and has an existence of its own. A desire or a wish is less tangible and often just fleeting. Who doesn’t desire or wish to win the lottery? A goal is a desire, wish or need achievable by actions you can take. It is more than a mere wish or desire.

    2. How to set a goal?

Setting a goal is a process which starts with an achievable need or desire. First you must decide on the following

    * What do you want?* Where do you want to be?* Your status, career or qualifications?

A goal can relate to any desire, wish or need achievable by actions you can take.

You then break down the goal into small individual steps or actions. Achievable goals are goals where you can influence their realization and measure your progress towards them. Achieving long term life changing goals is a process of achieving, step by step, short and medium term actions.

Enjoy this Podcast on 7 Steps To Achievable Goals

More on 7 Steps To Achievable Goals

    3. What actions are required?

Goals require action on your part. You first need to decide what action is required to achieve the goal. Your first action is always to always write your goals down. Putting pen to paper, and this is one time when a real pen and paper are required, gives your goals an existence of their own.

Writing a plan is an essential step in achieving your goals – without it you will, over time, amend the long term goal to fit your reality. You will eventually reduce the goal to a wish, and wishes only come true by chance.

    4. Analyze the results

You then need to analyze, and work out in detail how you are going to accomplish each individual goal. This means writing a detailed plan of what tangible actions are required to achieve each individual goal.

These actions then become smaller shorter term goals leading to major longer term goals.

    5. What steps do I need to take today?

Every day ask yourself “What steps do I need to take today?”. By now it should be all planned in advance so check your plan and make sure you take each step every day. If you discover additional steps are needed add them to the plan.

    6. Review your achievements every week and month

Every week review your progress for the week. Check what you’ve done and what you may have missed. Adjust your plan for the next week or month.

Your plan should always take into account what you will do today, tomorrow, this week, next week before the end of the month, in the next 3 months, 6 months…? Always write down your results.

    7. What if things go wrong?

Goals are difficult because they move you outside your comfort zone to do things differently. To be successful you have to face your own fear of failure and take risks. There will be setbacks, expect them,

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 6 Ways Mental Strength Can Impact Your Life for personal success and peak performance.

6 Ways Mental Strength Can Impact Your Life

According to various studies of the educational, occupational and sports industry, mental toughness can have a positive effect on a variety of things. What aspects are influenced by mental toughness?

6 Key Aspects That Mental Toughness Has An Impact On

    Performance

People who are mentally tough tend to be more effective in work quality and volume. This can often be seen in education, where there’s a strong, translucent association between performance and mental toughness with tests. According to the studies, there is a 25 percent difference in a person’s exam performance if they are mentally tough.

And, the patterned is echoed in the workplace, regardless of the job.

When combined, these patterns of mental toughness can be seen in the measured performance of organizations and groups. It would be safe to assume that mental toughness is a cultural issue, as well as an organizational one.

Enjoy this Podcast on 6 Ways Mental Strength Can Impact Your Life

More on 6 Ways Mental Strength Can Impact Your Life

    Conduct

The higher a person’s mental toughness is, the higher the likelihood of them establishing positive behavior.  With mental toughness, they strive their life with an “I can do it” attitude and they partake in various activities such as topic engagement, volunteering, asking questions, etc.  A person with mental toughness is often more likely to take part in the changes they’re exposed to, accept more responsibilities and see more positives than negatives.

    Health

People who have a high mental toughness tend to feel better about themselves, which leads to the following effects:

    * Higher attendance/decrease in nonattendance* Better able to handle adversity* Decrease in reported bullying* Able to see setbacks and recover from them quicker* Better sleep

    Goals and Ambitions

A person who has mental toughness will often attain and surpass their goals and ambitions. Folks who are mentally tough are often more determined than others… to get things done when they want it done.

    More Employable

People who are mentally tough tend to be highly competitive and have the drive to get the job they want. Evidence points to the instance where skills and qualifications with no emotional resilience don’t offer any results.

    Drop-Out Rates vs. Completion Rates

Some studies have proven there’s a resilient connection between mental toughness and the degree that a student sticks to their work or study program, making sure they complete it. It’s not only applied to school but also work. People who are mentally tough tend to complete their projects in a timely manner.

What You Need To Keep In Mind?

You must be mentally tough as well as emotionally resilient to better yourself overall – it’s a skill that will take you far. Don’t thinks so?  According to a Children Services’ director,

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over Mental Strength and Self-Discipline for personal success and peak performance.

    Mental Strength and Self-Discipline

Mental strength significantly affects your self-discipline. In fact, there’s a strong correlation between having a high level of self-discipline and being mentally strong.

Some studies even show that self-discipline is an essential attribute of people who earn more money since discipline is an underlying factor in achieving personal goals.

Simply put, people who earn more often have high levels of self-discipline and the mental toughness to finish whatever they started and see it through to the end.

If you find it difficult to discipline yourself, you might want to look first at developing mental strength.

Enjoy this Podcast on Mental Strength and Self-Discipline

More on How Mental Strength and Self-Discipline

Mental strength let’s you say no to temptations and excuses

If you don’t have mental toughness, you’ll find it easy to give in to temptations and distractions. You’ll find it hard to meet your deadlines and your goals simply because you don’t have the mental strength to reject temptations. You’ll also make a habit out of making excuses for why you’re missing deadlines.

If you’re mentally tough, then you won’t have a problem saying “no” to anything that will distract you from reaching your goals. You’ll also stop making excuses and instead do your best to tackle your situation head-on.

Mental strength lets you take good care of your body

If you are mentally strong, you know the value of taking good care of your body. You will not abuse it with alcohol and drugs. Neither will you allow yourself to be under too much stress. You will do everything in your power to make sure you remain in good health because without good health you won’t be able to work towards your goals.

Mental strength lets you stay committed to your goal

In today’s fast-paced world, we can have our choice of anything we want. You can be anything you want to be if you put your mind to it. With that being said, if you don’t have mental strength, you will not be able to commit to any goal you’ll set for yourself.

You will not be able to give your all because you’ll soon lose interest and you’ll soon start chasing another goal. If you’re mentally strong, you will plan out your steps and processes so you can reach your goal successfully.

You won’t be like a white flag in the air flapping every which way the wind blows. Instead, your mental strength and your self-discipline will anchor you firmly to your goals.
