Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over some tips on developing mind power for personal success and peak performance.

Mind Power: The Ultimate Success Weapon

What does it take to be successful?

Ask around and you will find different answers to the formula of success. The truth is, success leaves clues and you can achieve the success in the area you desire by observing the common qualities and principles. They are simple and considered to be common sense but most people simply do not follow them.

Let me share with you one of my favorite quotes:

“There are no secrets to success. It is the results of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure” Colin Powell

    Mind Power Tips

As stated in that quote, there are three key factors to achieve massive success in your life:

Mind Power Tip #1 – Preparation

You don’t have to wait for everything to be perfect. Start with the first step and keep moving. Success doesn’t happen overnight. Prepare, prepare, and prepare. You must be ready to receive the success you desire. Set your sight to the destination that you want to achieve, then work and prepare for the moment when the opportunity knocks your door.

Mind Power Tip #2 – Hard Work

Success needs hard work. Don’t listen to these ‘get rich quick’ schemes. You need to build your character and work hard on yourself and your business to achieve greatness. Work hard and work smart. Do the right things and do them in the right way. Don’t procrastinate. Take bold actions. Work long hours and craft your legacy.

Mind Power Tip #3 – Learning From Failure

Successful people do not see failures as failures. They see them as important learning lessons. Lessons that are capable of giving them insights to prevent such mistakes from happening again. By adopting this mindset of turning each failure into a learning lesson or opportunity, you can never fail until you yourself quit.

  • Develop A Motivated Mindset – Warrior Mind Podcast #585

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over some tips on How To Develop A Motivated Mindset for peak performance.

How to Develop A Motivated Mindset

From time to time, each of us will find ourselves in a rut of boredom and disinterest. We seem to lose our zest for life and feel tired, irritable and unmotivated. We want to hide under the covers rather than face the day. Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed by work, or sad about the pain and suffering in the world, or just bored with the routine of your daily life.

You are not alone. We all go through periods like this at some point. The good news is that we can do something about it. Here are some tips to help break out of the rut and feel excited about life again:

    * Take a “Time Out” – Prolonged stress can wear us down and zap any enthusiasm we once had. Before doing anything else, take a few minutes to breathe and just BE. Empty your mind of all stress and worry. This takes practice, but don’t give up! As thoughts come into your mind, gently push them back out and continue to keep your mind empty and calm. Take slow, deep breaths and let all of your muscles relax. Sit quietly and recharge your batteries. Try to do this daily, or even twice daily (morning and night). We need quiet time as much as we need anything else in life. Give yourself the gift of inner peace.

More on how to How To Develop A Motivated Mindset

    * Get Inspired – Read something motivational, inspirational or uplifting. Look at some beautiful nature photos, or read something humorous. Consciously move your thoughts to a more positive place. Focusing on nothing but work and our daily tasks in life can leave us feeling pretty uninspired. It’s easy to turn it around if we want to. We just have to seek out things that will lift our spirits and our moods. Make it a point to laugh, be happy, joyful and lighthearted each day. Don’t wait for inspiration to come knocking on your door, go out and find it, or create it. Conjure up some funny or touching memories. Write them in a journal so you can go back and read them when you’re feeling down.

    * Get Excited – Think about the things you have planned for the day, and rekindle the enthusiasm you once felt for them. When we first begin a new project, or start a new job, we are excited about the possibilities and eager to get moving! Over time, we can lose that enthusiasm for a variety of reasons. Travel back in time for a moment, and think about what got you so excited at the beginning. What made your heartbeat a little faster? Recapture that feeling and hang onto it! Even if your tasks aren’t anything to be really excited about, at least think of some positive benefits to doing them. For example, list the ways they will benefit your children, your spouse, yourself, your job or your home. Identify the payoff, and focus on that. Even mundane tasks have some benefits. Sometimes it’s just a matter of switching our mindset to see the positive side.

    * Baby Steps – Sometimes the hardest part is actually getting started. A project seems so monstrous that we cringe at the thought of all that time and energy we’ll have to expend. Instead of overwhelming yourself, start small. Set a timer for 15 minutes and just start working on it.

  • How to Avoid Burnout – Warrior Mind Podcast #584

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over how to How to Avoid Burnout Before It Starts, so you can achieve peak performance.

How to Avoid Burnout Before It Starts

Burnout can significantly affect your mind and body causing you to suffer from exhaustion, anxiety, and even depression. If you don’t make changes, burnout can lead to even more severe health problems such as heart attacks or strokes.

In order to avoid burnout it’s important to get into a habit of recognizing its warning signs so you can stop it before it begins. Even some relatively simple life changes may make it more likely for you to avoid burnout all together.

Here are some tips you can try to keep burnout at bay:

    * Analyze Your Workload. It’s quite easy to take on too much without realizing that there are only so many hours in the day. If you continue to run on overdrive without giving yourself a break, you’re sure to eventually reach burnout. You have two choices when it comes to altering your workload:

    * First, you can study time management techniques in order to work more efficiently. You’ll be able to get more done in less time.* Second, you can drop things off of your workload. This may not be ideal, but it’s important for the sake of your health and happiness.

Enjoy this Podcast on how to How to Avoid Burnout Before It Starts

More on how to How to Avoid Burnout Before It Starts

    * Avoid Exhaustion. When you’re in-tune with your body, you can sense when you’re reaching a point of exhaustion. As soon as you start to feel this way it’s time to stop and make a change. You can book a mini vacation, go on a day trip, or you can spend time at home. The important thing to remember is that you need to leave your sources of stress behind. If this means no access to a cell phone or computer, then so be it!

    * Change Is Good. If you keep reaching a point where you think you’ll burnout, then it’s time to make a major life change.

    * For example, you may have a job that is causing you to repeatedly burnout despite your best efforts to avoid it. Perhaps it’s time to start looking for a more suitable job.

    * Take Breaks. There is a reason why it’s mandatory to offer breaks to employees. You need breaks to refresh, rejuvenate, and renew your mind. Go for a 10-minute walk, play a Sudoku puzzle, or just get away from your source of tension for a few minutes.

    * Ask For Help. Sometimes we feel so alone with our problems that we forget to ask for help, yet that just might be the antidote to our stress! Talk to your partner, friend, or a personal coach to vent your frustrations and seek advice.

    * Learn To Say No. There is a difference between someone who is open and accommodating and someone who says yes to everything. If you tell everyone yes, it’s likely that someone will take advantage of you at some point or another. Learn that sometimes saying no is in your best interest. You don’t need to give yourself extra stress!

    The Time Factor

In the end, the most important tip is to listen to what your inner self is telling you. If you’ve taken on too much,

  • Rediscover Your Motivation – Warrior Mind Podcast #583

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over how to Rediscover Your Motivation When You’ve Lost Your Way.

Rediscover Your Motivation When You’ve Lost Your Way

Do you ever feel lost when trying to achieve your goals, especially when progress seems so far away?

If you’ve lost your way in trying to achieve a goal, you may find it difficult to rebuild your motivation. But there’s nothing stopping you from picking yourself up again!

If you feel like you’re off track, now is the perfect time for you to gather your thoughts and move forward again. This is a perfectly achievable feat, but you must be willing to give it your all.

Try this strategy to rediscover your motivation:

    * Figure out where you want to be. What do you want in your life? What matters most to you right now and where do you want to go from here? Take the time to visualize your dream life. Try to envision as many details as you can so you can get a feel for what you truly desire.

Enjoy this Podcast on how to Rediscover Your Motivation When You’ve Lost Your Way

More on how to Rediscover Your Motivation When You’ve Lost Your Way

    * Commit these ideas to paper. Write the details out clearly. Focus on what you do want rather than what you don’t have or don’t want. Put all of this information down on paper in a format that works for you, such as a mind map or a brainstorm cloud. You need to be able to process this information after you jot it down on paper.

    * Review your current goals. How do your current goals and aspirations relate to your dream life? Are you setting specific goals for what you really want to achieve in life? If not, then revise your goals so they’re in line with what you actually want. Your goals are only effective if they’re driving you toward the future you desire.

    * Create visual representations of your goals. It’s important to keep your goals in mind. Leave reminders for yourself on note cards, sticky notes, poster boards, dry erase boards, and anywhere else that you’ll see them and be able to think about them.

    * Keeping your goals in mind is essential to developing the motivation to see them through to their fruition.

    * Enlist help and support. Surround yourself with loved ones that support you and your goals. They’ll be some of the best help for relocating your motivation. Encircle yourself with people that motivate you, cheer you on, and feed you positive energy at every turn.

    * Remind yourself consistently. Why do you want these specific goals? Close your eyes and visualize your dream life often, in detail, and review your action plan to remind yourself how you’re going to get there.

    * When the “why” of your goals is important to you, the “how” more easily appears. Knowing exactly what you want and how you’re going to get there brings consistent motivation. With a detailed action plan of achievable steps, you’re excited about your next step and tackle challenges with gusto to get past them and move on!

When you take decisive action to achieve your goals,

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach, for personal success.

Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach

How often have you run into a leader who’s been successful at guiding others by saying one thing and then doing something different? Not very often, right? That’s simply because it doesn’t work!

It’s highly likely that principles taught without the right examples being put into practice will eventually fall by the wayside.

Especially if you’re in a position of authority, it is of utmost importance to lead by example if you expect to gain compliance.

Leading by example will ensure these benefits:

    * Support of the principles based on results. For example, if you’re teaching honesty, when people see for themselves that you gain the trust of others by being honest, they will likely see the benefits of being honest themselves.

    * Full understanding of the principles. Just imparting principles to others isn’t always enough. In fact, the majority of people may have a completely different understanding of what’s expected of them.

    * Cohesion and cooperation. This is particularly true whenever team effort is required. When everybody is on the same page, processes, departments and families run more cohesively.

    * Respect. When others can see that you are fully complying with the principles you teach, you’ll ultimately gain their respect.

Enjoy this Podcast on Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach

More on Walk Your Talk – Practicing the Principles You Preach

Disastrous Results of Not Practicing What You Preach

So what happens when you try to teach certain life principles but allow your actions to dictate otherwise?

You’re bound to run into any or all of the following situations:

    * Those you expect compliance from will very soon grow to resent you, especially if the principles you’re teaching are a challenge for them to perform.

    * You may end up with a negative reputation as an ineffective leader or teacher as you lose sight of the very actions you teach.

    * Cases of rebellion will continue to grow as more and more people feel they’re being dictated to instead of led.

How to Start Leading By Example

It’s very easy to outline your expectations; it’s the simplest part of the equation. And that’s a start, because at least you know what the principles are. As they say, “Knowing is half the battle” but in this case, it’s the smaller half!

It may take a lot of effort to really walk the talk and practice the behaviors that you want others to emulate. However, you can get started practicing this positive principle on a daily basis with only a small effort:

Start small and stick to your immediate circle of influence.

    * Give yourself the opportunity to impart morals and good belief systems on your immediate family and close friends.

    * Tackle each principle one at a time.

    * Work hard at allowing it to become an integral part of your everyday life.

  • How to Identify Your Potential- Warrior Mind Podcast #580

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over several stope to help identify your potential for peak performance.

    Identifying Your Potential

Discovering what makes you tick is integral to identifying your own potential. Knowing what you’re good at and what you want to do in life will make your life more satisfying and fulfilling.

If you’re struggling to figure out your strengths and ability to accomplish things, perhaps it would be helpful to take some time to get in touch with your own potential.

Consider these questions and suggestions to help you identify your potential:

    * What do you love to do? Write it down. Include tasks such as “make my car shine” as well as activities like “complete a 10-page quarterly report on my project at work.”* Your passion in a specific area will enhance your abilities to achieve in related activities. If you love to listen to guitar music and you’re taking lessons, you’ll no doubt be motivated to try to play your best and produce lovely music.* Listen to what others say about you. Although you’ll have your own concept of who you are and what you’re good at, paying attention to what others say to you about you will offer insight into some of your talents and skills you might not have considered.

What other people see as your strengths will most likely be areas that you perform well in. You gain valuable information by listening to others’ comments about you and to you

    More on Identifying Your Potential

    * What is your dream career? Throughout life, you’ve perhaps thought about more than one or two careers you’d enjoy. Maybe as a child, you wanted to be a doctor. During your adolescent years, you loved archeology and thought you’d go in to a related career. But now, you’re an adult in the working world. Is this the job you truly want?* If you’d rather be doing something else, what would it be? Let your mind go. You want to work on a cruise ship that travels from one Caribbean island to another. You dream about working in the fashion industry. Maybe you’ve always wanted to own a restaurant where you cooked for everyone.* The point is that when a particular idea has stuck with you over the years, you’ll no doubt be highly motivated to make it happen and fulfill your potential.* Surround yourself with people you love. People whom you love and who love you inspire you to go for what you want in life. They nurture, support, and encourage you.* Ensure you have plenty of loving, caring people around you to provide inspiration to fuel your potential.* Can you find a coach? A coach is someone who’ll help you cultivate your greatest joy, interest or talent. They’re usually a person who excels in the area that you’re interested in pursuing. An effective mentor can help you identify and even fulfill your potential.* When you have a role model who thoroughly knows about a subject that’s close to your heart, you’ll push yourself to learn more and excel in your chosen area.

Once you know what you love to do, you’ll be closer to identifying your potential in life. Also, being in touch with your own strengths and having supportive people, including a coach, around you will help.

  • How to Find Your True Self – Warrior Mind Podcast #579

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be reviewing a few steps you can take to find your true self to develop self-mastery.

    Find Your True Self

Your true self is the part of you that is constant. It transcends your body, emotions, and experiences. It is the essence of you.

How would you describe yourself? You might declare that you are Susan, wife of Bob, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and have Scottish ancestry.

However, if you had been named Beth, married a guy named Steve, worked as a nurse and had Irish ancestors, you would still be the same person you are now. Your life and experiences might be different, but you would still be fundamentally the same person.

There’s something about you that’s constant, though it’s hard to describe exactly what that is.

    Who are you?

One thing is for certain: when you’re living a life that aligns with your true self, you’re going to be happy. If you’re not living a life that resonates with your true self, you’ll feel like something is lacking. It doesn’t matter how much success, fortune, and fame you achieve if your true self isn’t honored.

Enjoy this Podcast on how to find your true self

More on how to find your true self

Try these ideas to discover your true self and reveal your path in life:

    * What is your level of introversion / extroversion? Do you feel more energized and comfortable when alone or with others? When are you at your best?* If you’re naturally introverted, a job that requires interacting with people all day long is going to create a lot of stress and anxiety.* Spending time alone in a cubicle working on a computer might drive you crazy if you’re extroverted.* What did you like as a child that you still like today? It might be baseball, Scooby-Doo cartoons, pizza, and afternoon naps. Dig deeper than that. You might find that you’ve always craved adventure, creativity, and helping others. Think about the characteristics and qualities in your life that have been constant.* If you could accomplish anything, what do you think would be your greatest accomplishment? Is it earning a billion dollars or winning a Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe it’s writing a best-selling book or adopting a disadvantaged child. What do you think is the greatest accomplishment a person can have?* What do you consider to be the most important lessons you could teach a child? What do you wish you had known when you were 10-20 years of age? What could you have known that would have made your life more meaningful?* What would you do with great wealth? After you bought a mansion and a fancy car, what would you do with your life? What would you do with your free time and extensive financial resources?* Who are your heroes? Albert Einstein? John D. Rockefeller? Mother Teresa? Whom do you look up to? Why? Whose life would you most like to emulate? Whom would you be most proud to be like?* Think about who you have been. Sometimes we get too caught up in who we want to be and ignore who we are. You might dream of being a Rockstar, but can’t carry a tune, can’t play an instrument, and suffer from panic attacks when faced with an audience. We all have to accept our limitations.* It’s important to make the most of your life but be realistic about who you are.* What are your natural strengths and weaknesses? Likes and dislikes?

  • Follow Your Path – Warrior Mind Podcast #578

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be discussing some tips to make sure you follow your path.

    Follow Your Path

It’s not easy to find your way through the world. You might have interests that don’t coincide with the values of your parents or with those of western society.

It’s important to remember that everyone is different, and while the status quo might work for the majority of the population, it doesn’t work for everyone.

To have a truly fulfilling life, you must live it on your own terms.

There are plenty of forces willing to tell you what your path should be:

    1.  Parents. Your parents want you to be happy and successful. Many of them also want to be able to brag to their friends about their children. They also don’t want to be supporting you financially when you’re in your 30’s.

    * Parents tend to be practical in their advice. Just remember that you’d have a similar life to them if you followed their advice. That might be good or bad.

    * Keep in mind that you are not the same as your parents. You also have your own life to live.

Enjoy this Podcast on Follow Your Path

More on Are You Follow Your Path

    2. Educational system. The educational system wants to turn out productive people into society that conform to their ways of thinking. This might be great for society, but it might not be in your best interests.

    * What if you want to be a rockstar, or take a few years to travel and write a book, own a llama farm, or become a Buddhist monk in Sri Lanka? Your school guidance counselor might be less than supportive.

    3. Society as a whole. We live in a society that values achievement, financial resources, and personal possessions. We’re supposed to get married to a beautiful partner, have a few kids, and live in the suburbs.

    * It’s natural to want to play that game, even if it doesn’t quite suit our true nature. It’s nice to have the admiration of society. Our egos crave this type of recognition.* But the type of life dictated by society isn’t a good fit for everyone. There are plenty of people that are highly successful by society’s criteria that are absolutely miserable.

Plenty of people are willing to influence your choice of lifestyle and career. It’s unlikely their advice will be optimal for you. Be an individual and find the path that works best for you.

Find and follow your own path with these strategies:

    1. Ask yourself what you really want to do. Don’t say that you don’t know, because you do know. You’re just afraid to allow it to see the light of day. You might be concerned what others think, or you might be afraid that you’re not capable of doing it. Deep down, you know what you want.

    * Ask yourself what you would do if you could do anything, and then listen to the answer.

    2. Decide that you’re going to follow your path. One of the biggest obstacles to success is failing to make a true decision. A decision only occurs when you shut yourself off to other possibilities. If you frequently change your mind, you’re not making true decisions.

    3. Make a plan. Set up a schedule of daily tasks that will bring...

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going over several time management tips for peak performance.

    10 Effective Time Management Tips

Have you ever thought to yourself that there aren’t enough hours in the day, or felt overwhelmed at the tasks facing you? If you have, this article can help you!

    * Clarify your goals and strategy

Be very clear about your aims and ambitions, both short and long term. Write them down. Once you know what you really want to achieve (and why) it’s easier to make decisions about what needs doing, and to plan accordingly.

    * Focus on your top priorities

You’ll be more productive and profitable if you identify and focus on the areas most important to your business. Work on the fundamentals first. The Latin word ‘fundamentum’ means foundation – so take action, build strong foundations and the rest should follow.

    * Schedule time

Literally write an appointment in your work planner (you do have one of those, don’t you?) to set aside a realistic block of time for your priority actions. This reduces anxiety over not having enough time and keeps you focused.

    * Say no!

Consider Jim Rohn’s suggestion. “Learn how to say no. Don’t let your mouth overload your back.” Always check your schedule before committing to anything new. Don’t allow others to divert you from your objectives.

Enjoy this Podcast on 10 effective time management tips

More on 10 effective time management tips

    * Create supportive systems

This includes systems for filing, management information and communication.

    * Take a reality check

Will your current activity have a positive outcome, or are you doing it to avoid something else? Ask yourself – will doing this take me towards my goal? As Peter F Drucker observed “There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.”

    * Delegate!

It’s tempting to do something yourself when you think you can do it faster and better. But consider the long term – delegation now will save time in the future, and if done appropriately can motivate your staff, boost their confidence and help them develop their skills.

    * Repeat your success

Remember the last time you went away on holiday, and how you got so much done in those few days before you left? What strategies and techniques did you employ that made you so effective and focused? Can you repeat them? Alternatively, imagine you are going away tomorrow and work through today accordingly.

    * Balance your life

Formally schedule personal activities too, so you make time for family, friends, your health and fun because having a balanced life reduces stress and increases energy levels. Time management is really about life management!

    * End the day

At the end of the working day, tidy your desk, make notes about what needs doing tomorrow and prioritize those tasks. You’ll worry less that evening and be prepared and focused the next morning

  • Turn Around Bad Habits – Warrior Mind Podcast #576

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the ways to turn around bad habits into good habits.

    Bad Habits

Bad habits can form without you even knowing it and they can prove to be difficult to break. However, it’s always the first step that’s the most difficult. Once you get started, you’ll build both momentum and confidence.

With a proper focus and willingness to succeed, you’ll find that you can overcome any bad habit. Then you can choose to replace that bad habit with a more positive one.

    Breaking Bad Habits and Behavior

Before you can tackle the problem of replacing a bad habit with a good one, you’ll need to be mentally prepared to detach yourself from the habit. A strong mindset allows you to tackle nearly anything!

Keep these tips in mind as you prepare to transform your habits:

    * Get organized by figuring out the bad pattern you’d like to break.* Start small, with one habit at a time. Trying to change too much at once can overwhelm you.* Decide that you truly want to change. If you don’t want to change, you simply won’t.* Don’t judge yourself. If you make a mistake, get back in there and keep trying.

Enjoy this Podcast on how to turn around bad habits

More on how to turn around bad habits

    The Substitution

The key to permanently breaking a bad habit lies in being able to replace it with a good one. If you engage in a bad habit and decide to simply stop entirely, it can be incredibly tough. You might be okay for a while, but chances are you’ll find yourself back to your old bad habits in no time.

Consider some of these situations for substituting good habits for bad ones:

    * Exercise. Exercise is an excellent substitution for bad habits. Exercise can make you less likely to overeat and help you battle other addictions as well. With exercise, instead of just trying to refrain from the addicting activities, you’re actively releasing your energy in other ways.

    * “Being social” and other excuses. Sometimes we say that our bad habits happen in social situations only. It’s true that we’re social creatures, but certainly you can be social in ways that aren’t detrimental to your health! Change your routines to avoid the temptation.

    * Taking action. Your solutions don’t have to be conventional or from a textbook, but they do have to work for you as an individual. Strive to take action and stay the course, even if you stumble from time to time.

    Fulfill Your Needs

You must learn to fulfill your needs in a healthy way. Chances are you’ve developed a bad habit because of an underlying need. Identify this need and find positive ways to fulfill it.

You might need to do a little soul searching in order to find the true underlying causes for your bad habits. If you have a bad habit of grinding your teeth at night, you might need to ask yourself why. Taking an action like wearing a mouth guard is one thing, but maybe you also need to take action to get to the root of your stress!

You might engage in many negative actions because you don’t feel ...
