Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the 10 Steps to Success for peak performance.

Success is the state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectations. It may be viewed as the opposite of failure. The criteria for success depend on context, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system.

    10 Steps to Success

    * Don’t tolerate the intolerable.  Hold yourself and others to high standards.  Once you stop accepting below par results, you will have more energy for the things that matter the most.

    *  Finish what you start. By completing what you start, you can experience peace and move on with your life.

    * Simplify. Balance can easily be achieved if you de-clutter your life—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

    * Reinforce your structures. Make sure your own needs are met and your foundations are solid.  You will notice that confidence will replace your fears.

    * Keep what matters close.  Organize your life so that it revolves around the things that matter most to you.

6.) Always create. Don’t lose your imaginative side.  Constantly try new things, experiment with old things, and always strive to improve.

    * Strengthen. Just like muscles, your strengths need to be tested, pushed, and built upon in order to become more solid.

    * Reserve. Learn how to stockpile in every aspect of your life.  The more prepared you are, the more leverage you have, and the more opportunities will come your way.

    * Incorporate. Be aware of how the different aspects of your life fit together.  Strive to maintain adhesion and connectivity in your life.

    * Perfect. Make sure to constantly work at all of your unique elements. Through attentive care, you can polish your life into a work of art.

Success can be defined in many ways. If you are experiencing happiness, love, or adventure in this moment, you’ve already found success. Keep it up.

  • Stuck? Change Your Focus! – Warrior Mind Podcast #574

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss how to change your focus you can get unstuck and achieve peak performance.

    Change Your Focus!

If you sometimes feel as though you’re caught in life’s quicksand, you have a lot of company. We work, we struggle, we try to do everything we possibly can to move on to a higher level of well-being, but it seems like the harder we work, the more stuck we get. If you’re approaching a Category 5 frustration level, you might give this a try…

Switch your focus from that really nice – but frustrated – person in the mirror to one or more of the other folks who inhabit this good earth.

I realize that it’s important to watch out for number one – ourselves. We need to set goals, lay out plans and then do those things we need to do so that we can at least make some progress toward our goals. We need to demonstrate personal financial responsibility, plan for retirement and frequently just cover our backside so it doesn’t get chewed off by one or more of life’s rodents.

However, what frequently happens is that we become so over-focused on ourselves and our own personal well-being that we wind up building huge walls. We lose the ability – or even desire – to see the bigger picture and the possibilities that life presents to us.

We become so focused on “me” that we sometimes begin scrutinizing even the most insignificant events to determine their potential impact on our personal lives.

We become victims to ourselves. And to be real honest about it, we sometimes just become so busy being busy that we lose track of where we thought we wanted our lives to wind up in the first place.

Enjoy this Podcast How To Change Your Focus

More on How to Change Your Focus

One possible solution as I mentioned earlier is to change our focus from “me” to “others”. From being the receiver to being the giver. And no, I’m not even implying that this requires any major change in the things we do every day. It may eventually lead to that but it’s not a critical part of the initial process.

Here’s what I mean. No matter what you do to earn a living or keep the household moving in a logical direction, somewhere down the line a real person will probably benefit from what you do. Think about it. The work we do is not just to stuff computer systems full of information or help machines work better. It’s not just to take people’s money so we’ll have a paycheck at the end of the week. It’s not just filling out forms, nailing pieces of boards together, assembling electronic devices, hauling packages, going to meetings, etc. Somewhere, sometime (and maybe immediately) another human being will likely be positively affected by what you do.

And yes, if you’re paying attention, you’ve noticed that I’ve used a couple of cop-out words in the preceding paragraph – “likely” and “probably”. I had to do that because in the real world there are some individuals whose money-making efforts are focused mainly on “non-beneficial” activities. That’s just the way the world is.

For the rest of us however, our activities and work generally reflect a more positive endeavor. That leads us back to the original suggestion. If you are caught in the quicksand, take a few minutes to really think about the people – the individuals who will be better off,

  • 3 Tips To Manage Stress – Warrior Mind Podcast #573

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 3 Tips To Manage Stress and achieve peak performance.

    3 Tips To Manage Stress

Oftentimes stress will manifest when we carry over yesterday’s concerns into our present-day concerns. An accumulation will almost always end up in a high stress level. Therefore, we must be able to “dump” all of our concerns from the previous day or days and concentrate wholly on our today.

So here are 3 stress busting tips

    Marange Stress Tip #1

Resolve right now to release every thought from yesterday and be only mindful of the now…. this thought only…this breath…this moment. Take in three very deep breaths and slowly release each one.

At the same time feel each and every concern, each and every problem, and each and every unresolved moment, begin to dissolve. You can deal with them at a later time. For now, you are only to be in this very moment.

Now go to your inner quiet place. Go deep inside to a place where you feel that you are at peace and then just relax and breathe in deeply and enjoy the feeling of being at one and at peace within yourself.

Use this special time and place to be calm. Free your mind and body of all worry, all regret, all disappointment, all anger and grief.

Enjoy this Podcast on 3 Tips To Manage Stress

More on 3 Tips To Manage Stress

    Manae Stress Tip #2

Next, think of one particular act, such as rocking your baby, taking a quick stroll, raking the leaves, and do that one simple thing. All the while, your mind is quiet and calm and you are in your own special place within.

Practice this act of quiet and calm each day and you will see that you will accomplish so much more. At the first sign of being stressed, go back to this mindful, quiet place and start all over again until you have reached your inner place of calm.

    Manage Stress Tip #3

The very best thing that you can do for yourself is to eat, drink and rest – to your health!

Stress is easily brought on by not eating and drinking properly. When you don’t get the number of hours of sleep that you need each night, you are only setting yourself up for additional stress.

Limit the amount of salt, sugar, caffeine and alcohol in your diet. Drink plenty of clean, pure water each day and do at least moderate exercise each day. This will breathe new life into your skin, hair and will nourish all of your vital organs.

Take time to breathe properly! Take deep belly breathes to send pure oxygen to all of your body. Laugh and then laugh some more. It is food for the soul! Spend time doing the things that please you most. Engage in healthy and fulfilling relationships and work on problems that would erode the closeness that you have with someone special.

When we are content and living balanced life everyday stresses seem to pale in comparison. We are better equipped to deal with the unexpected.

You can take control today! Isolate only one particular stressor in your life and then work on it until you regain control. At the very least, have some new hope!

  • 5 Ways to Boost Your Willpower – Warrior Mind Podcast #572

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 5 Surprising Ways to Boost Your Willpower for peak performance.

5 Ways to Boost Your Willpower

Most of us wish we had more willpower. We’re not very good at doing the things we don’t like doing. Willpower is in limited supply, so it must be used wisely.

It’s possible to build your willpower reserves by holding yourself to a standard or enduring misery. Neither is particularly fun, but situations that call for willpower never are. If it were enjoyable, you wouldn’t need willpower in the first place!

Keep in mind that your willpower is at its highest earlier in the day. Nearly everything drains your willpower, including fatigue, hunger, and any other form of stress.

Try these activities to strengthen your willpower:

    * Stand in the rain. Or go for a walk in the cold without your coat. That doesn’t mean you should walk down the throat of a thunderstorm or risk frostbite. The key is to be physically uncomfortable and stick with it.

Rather than running for the house when the rain starts to fall, put on your shoes and go for a walk.

Enjoy this Podcast on 5 Ways to Boost Your Willpower

More on 5 Ways to Boost Your Willpower

    * Meditate. Meditation might seem like one step up from a nap, but meditation can be boring, uncomfortable, and tedious. It can take a lot of meditation to sit there for just 10 minutes, never mind an entire hour or more.

Start a meditation practice. Start with 10 minutes a day. Sit by yourself and focus on your breath. Avoid moving around. That’s it.

You thought that going to a romantic comedy with your girlfriend was boring? Try watching your breath intently for 10 solid minutes.

This is a great way to build your willpower and simultaneously gain the benefits of meditation.

    * Try using your opposite hand. This will slow you down and force you to pay more attention to everything you do. Imagine your dominant hand is in a cast and a sling. Spend a full hour doing everything with your weak hand. Brush your teeth, comb your hair, feed yourself, and more.

It will be funny at first, but the situation will quickly lose its charm. Prepare to feel exasperated. You’ll be shocked at how much more time and attention tasks require.

    * Create deadlines and finish tasks on time. Set deadlines and hold yourself to them. That includes everything from the laundry getting folded to making that phone call to your mother-in-law.

On Sunday night, determine what you’re going to do that week and enforce your deadlines like a tyrant. This is also a valuable skill that will enhance your life in countless ways. You’ll also build great willpower.

Any procrastination habit you may have will be challenged, too. The more you procrastinate, the more challenging this will be for you.

    * Eat deliberately. This is similar to meditation. No talking, watching TV, or playing on your smartphone. Give your full attention to your meal. Chew every bite at least 20 times. Count your bites! Take three deep breaths between bites. No cheating!

You’ll probably find that you eat significantly le...

  • 9 Ways To Combat Fear – Warrior Mind Podcast #571

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the 9 Ways To Combat Fear for achieving personal success!

    9 Ways To Combat Fear

Fear gets to the best of us, whether it is fear of failure, fear of success or even fear of fear. All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives and it can be a real stumbling block that holds us back from being truly successful.

Fear can’t hold you back forever, if you don’t let it. There are several ways to overcome fear, here are my top 9:

    1. Separate Reality from Perception

Ask yourself what is really going on, locate the facts and place them over your feelings.

    2. Identify the Triggers

Figure out what it is in a situation that triggers you. Learning to identify it will help you learn to combat it.

    3. Know where fear lives in your body

A lot of times, fear takes over physically. It affects different people different ways. Identify if/how it affects your physical body and do the work to take care of your body. Ex: if you hold stress in your back, you can learn stretches, foam rolling, etc. to avoid the pain.

    4. Practice gratitude

Every day, list out 1-3 things you are thankful for. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, gratitude helps shift the mind into a positive light, which overtime, overcomes fear.

Enjoy this Podcast on 9 Ways To Combat Fear

More on 9 Ways To Combat Fear

    5. Listen to your inner voice

Monitor your inner conversations. If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself. Speak positively to yourself and remind yourself of your strengths.

    6. Create a new association

Remind yourself that the feeling and the moment will pass. Focus on the positive outcome of the situation, rather than the scary in-between.

    7. Look at the glass half full

Perception is a very powerful thing, and how you feel about your situation dictates how you respond. So think positively and you’ll give yourself a much better chance of success. This won’t happen overnight; practice with just one thought. What is one recurring negative/fearful thought you have? Work on reversing this one thought. Overtime, this will become a habit.

    8. Practice breathing exercises

Breathing helps center your body; when you stop breathing, your heart stops beating. You can do a grounding exercise, or even just take 5 deep, long breaths at any point to calm and center yourself. It is best to start your day with this, but feel free to practice all day long.

    9. Create a safe space

When you feel safe and secure, there is no room for fear. Find somewhere safe you can retreat to when ill feelings begin- whether this is a real place such as your bedroom, or a place in your mind such as the beach. This sense of comfort will soothe you and allow you to face your fear.

Please keep in mind, these are just 9 strategies, not everything works for everyone. But this is a place to start. Start implementing these techniques into your life and don’t let fear hold you back from reaching your goals and ...

  • 3 Tips For Managing Your Life: Warrior Mind Podcast #570

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the 3 Tips For Managing Your Life and achieving personal success!

3 Tips For Managing Your Life

Good news: from getting organized to maximizing your time, there are some easy ways to stay focused and achieve your goals.

    * What Areas Need the Most Work?

Watching a reality TV show may be more entertaining than cleaning the green film off the shower stall but it won’t keep your home from becoming a biohazard. Establishing and sticking to priorities will help you spend less time worrying about what needs to be done and more time accomplishing your goals. Consider using Sunday evenings, when you normally mourn the end of the weekend, to go over weekly goals and priorities. This is a great way to stay focused on what you want to accomplish without getting ahead of yourself.

Enjoy this Podcast on 3 Tips For Managing Your Life

More on 3 Tips For Managing Your Life

    * Cut Out the Junk

If you’re like most people, you keep possessions well beyond their usefulness. When neighbors begin mistaking your garage for abstract art, you have a problem. Consider selling old appliances, clothing and furniture that add clutter to your life; to avoid the hassle of a yard sale, use Web sites such as eBay and Craigslist to sell secondhand goods. One day you may even be able to park your car in the garage.

    * Give Someone Else a Spot

Pledging to be more active in your community is an important goal. Instead of shying away from volunteer opportunities, make a point to reserve one day a month for charities or functions. Nonprofit organizations are flexible when it comes to working with volunteers.

None of these tips will take effect if you don’t implement them into your daily routine. It only takes a couple days of procrastination before you’re smothered by daily tasks and confused about what to do next. You will change your habits only by being proactive and setting constant reminders. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. By being patient with your progress and approaching your goals sooner than later, you may have some great accomplishments to celebrate.

  • The Illusion of Success: Warrior Mind Podcast #569

Over 10 years and going strong!  With over 2M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the Illusion of Success and how to move beyond its grasp.

    The Illusion of Success

There are many ways for people to define success and this is going to depend on many factors. To some people, success is to put food on the table every day. To others, success is to be able to get a promotion at work, and perhaps to a few, it is to simply be able to have a job at all.

There is no question that life can be very difficult and challenging to many of us. The recent events have been devastating in terms of the economy and millions of people have lost their jobs. This certainly makes it harder for people to see beyond the basics of survival and to set their sights on their true purpose.

Now that we are finally getting back to normal, people are going back to work, and they are able to regain some of that control that they felt they had before. Some people are working hard to reach new positions and to climb the corporate ladder and they are seeing success in that sense, but for some reason, they feel empty and unaccomplished.

    * The illusion of success is a very common phenomenon

When people start to reach higher positions within a business and they earn more money each month, they get a quick sense of accomplishment, and they feel motivated to keep going. Eventually, they start to feel like their accomplishments don’t seem to make them happy or motivated either.

This is the phenomenon that is often called “the illusion of success” and the reason why this happens is due to how people confuse financial accomplishments with their purpose. See, the biggest mistake is to even think that money is a purpose because money is only a consequence of the journey.

Enjoy this Podcast on The Illusion of Success

More on The Illusion of Success

    * Money is never the purpose

The main reason why many “successful” people start feeling lost and unhappy is because they focused their efforts on money being their goal. Their entire journey was focused on this particular purpose.

The problem is that those who make money their purpose, are more likely to feel lost, disconnected, unhappy and unable to get a sense of accomplishment. The only way to break out of this type of situation is to be able to regain your focus and find your true purpose.

Never forget that money is just a piece of paper that is given value for you to buy material things. Your true love and passion in life is not to buy possessions. Your true passion is in what makes you feel happy, accomplished, and engaged.

    * A person that loves their job is a person that has found their purpose

How many people do you know that are doing what they wanted to do with their lives? Many of us would have a hard time finding a good example in our close circle of friends and family.

The reason why this happens is that people get themselves cornered by fear of what people will say and fear of failure. It is much easier to simply follow the “safe” road of looking for a job that pays well and is relatively safe to keep. That illusion of a safety net is often quite a problem that makes people fall into a dangerous comfort zone.

It’s funny to combine the word comfort and danger because they seem to be so far away from each other in most sit...

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 8 Ways to Unlock Your Potential for personal success.

8 Ways to Unlock Your Potential

Do you wonder why you haven’t accomplished more with your life? Do you feel that you have great potential locked up inside of you? Most adults feel this way. No one ever truly reaches their potential, but it’s discouraging that so many of us never even scratch the surface of our potential. Are you ready to find out what you can do?

Find out what you’re really capable of accomplishing:

    * Be bold. This is the number one tip for unleashing your potential on the world. Your limited achievements are likely due to the fact that you’re timid. If you were out there doing your best each day, you’d be too busy piling up successes to read an article like this. Stop caring about the opinions of others and show the world what you’ve got.* Have bold goals. To live up to your potential, you need goals. Goals provide a direction for your energy and effort. Effective goals are motivating, which is great if you’re going to set bold goals! Avoid overwhelming yourself. Goals should be bold, but not overwhelming.

    * Combine your strengths and interests. Do you really care about maximizing your chess-playing potential if you don’t enjoy playing chess? You’ll have the most potential in the areas where you show natural strength and have a high level of interest. What are you good at that you also enjoy?

Enjoy this Podcast on 8 Ways to Unlock Your Potential

More on 8 Ways to Unlock Your Potential

    * Get expert assistance. Some of the leading experts in the world still have a coach or mentor. The right mentor can help you to reach your potential faster than you can do it alone. Spend the time necessary to find a good mentor. It’s like putting your progress on the fast track.* Make progress each day. A small amount of progress, accumulated over time, can result in amazing progress. Avoid overwhelming yourself by setting a schedule or goals that you can’t maintain. But, be sure to make some progress each and every day. The amount of progress you can make in a year would be staggering.* Develop habits that help you accomplish your goals. Keeping with the same theme of making progress each day, your habits are those things you do each day. An effective set of habits all but guarantees success.

    * Examine your goals and determine the habits that would make success likely. The hardest job you have is creating habits. Once the right habits are in place, there’s little else to worry about. Create an effective routine and stick with it.

    * Determine your obstacles. There’s always something in the way. It might be a lack of time, money, or other resource. Maybe you have a spouse that demands a lot of your time. Maybe you live in the wrong place. After all, it’s not easy to maximize your surfing skills in Missouri.

    * Create a plan for dealing with your obstacles. What can you do to overcome them, or at least minimize them? What do you need? What do you need to stop doing? How can you alter your life to make success more likely?* Expect success. If you expect failure, you’re bound to fail. Why not give yourself the benefit of the doubt and expect good things? If you have solid goals, good habits, and a smidge of discipline, there’s no reason to doubt yourself.

14 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Imagine how different your life could be if you felt more confident! Fears would be only a faint memory of days gone by. You’d know without a doubt that you could achieve whatever you set your mind to. Nothing could hold you back. You’d be living the life you’ve always desired!

Self-confidence is perhaps the most important quality that sets successful people apart from others. Think of every person you know who has achieved a measure of success. Can you find even one who doesn’t exhibit confidence?

These people don’t have more confidence because they’re any better than anyone else. They’re no better than you! They have confidence because they learned some skills and actions that brought them that confidence.

The good news is that you, too, can learn these skills and gain the confidence to propel you to success in any endeavor! Wouldn’t you love to have more confidence? It won’t come to you of its own accord; you have to be proactive if you want to build confidence.

You can learn the skills to build your confidence from this podcast. Here are the top 14 ways to boost your confidence so you can feel good about yourself and enjoy great success:

    Look good, feel good.

When you look and feel your best, you have more confidence, you’re more alert, and you bring more energy and focus to your projects. Other people also take more notice of you and respond positively to your positive energy.

    * Be a sharp dresser. Even ZZ Top, the classic rock band, took notice of the effect that dressing well can have on people when they wrote the song Sharp Dressed Man. The song says:

“They come runnin’ just as fast as they can‘Cause every girl crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.”

Yes, whether it’s your business or personal life, looking your best can attract others. When you shop, buy nice clothes. If budget is an issue, buy less but spend more on each item. More expensive clothes look better, fit better, and last longer than the cheap stuff.

When you know you look good, there’s an aura of confidence about you.

    * Stay in shape. Making the effort to stay in shape pays you well in terms of increased confidence and self-esteem. If you’re insecure about your weight, for example, those insecurities can affect many other aspects of your life.* Eating healthy, nutritious foods gives both your body and brain what they require to function at top capacity. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store, where you’ll find the fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and whole grain breads. Stay away from the center of the store, where they keep all the preservative-laden foods in boxes and cans.* Exercise every day to use up extra calories, tone your body, and bring you more energy. Exercising also produces endorphins, the “feel good” hormone, which gives you an emotional lift and makes you feel good about yourself.

Let your body language show confidence.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss how to Change Your Life by Implementing New Habits

Change Your Life by Implementing These New Habits

“The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

    – John C. Maxwell

What is the first thing you do after you wake up in the morning? Maybe you check your phone, or you get out of bed to brush your teeth. Whatever it is, you might not think twice about it.

Habits are learned behaviors that become a part of your routine over time. They can be subconscious. And habits are not always good.

Yet some of the most successful people attribute their success to their routine. Those people took time to integrate good habits into their life.

To change your life, you can change your habits. Habits do not have to be large changes in order to have an impact. You can also integrate small, good habits into your routine.

These habits might seem small or insignificant, but they can carry into your life in unexpected ways.

Enjoy this Podcast on Change Your Life by Implementing These New Habits

More on Change Your Life by Implementing These New Habits

Implement these habits into your routine to change your life:

    * Make your bed. Starting your day by making your bed is one of the simplest habits to integrate into your daily routine. You reward yourself by starting the day off with an easy win.* That simple accomplishment can subconsciously act as a domino effect as you generate other wins throughout your day.* Set an intention. At the beginning of your day, set an intention. You can also set intentions for the week, month or year. Setting intentions regularly guides you with a reminder of how you want to live each day.* Practice gratitude. Studies have shown that when we practice gratitude, our brains release dopamine. Gratitude helps shift your mind to positive thoughts, which can help you feel more positive.* At the end of the day, write down three things you are grateful for to build your gratitude habit.

    * Exercise. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals that relieve stress and spark euphoria. In addition to being a natural antidepressant, exercise also builds your confidence. To build your confidence and happiness, make it a habit to exercise each day.* Express gratitude to others. When you express gratitude towards others, you strengthen the connection you have with them.* Write a thank you letter to a mentor who has guided you in the past or to someone who made an impact on your life.* After you spend time with someone, send them a message thanking them for their time and include one specific thing you loved about that time.

    * Read. Just like exercise builds your physical muscles, reading builds your brain’s muscles. Reading consistently builds your ability to focus, concentrate, and remember things.* Switch to positive language. Practice using positive language, from your self-talk to the things you say to others.* Say, “Thank you for your patience,” instead of, “Sorry for the wait.” * Pay attention to the negative things you say to yourself. Would you speak that way to a friend? Speak to yourself more positively too!* Take the stairs. In a digital age where most of us are tied to our computers,
