  • Do It Today: Stop Waiting for the Right Time: Warrior Mind Podcast #565

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over some tips to help you Do It Today And Stop Waiting for the Right Time.

Do It Today: Stop Waiting for the Right Time

There’s never a better time than the present. Too often, we wait for the perfect time to start losing weight, build a business, save money, or have children. Time is constantly passing, and there’s no time to wait!

There’s also never going to be a perfect time. You can start working out today! You don’t need to wait for Monday, or the first of the month, or the first of the year. There will never be a perfect time to have a child.

Instead of waiting for the perfect time, get started today and make the most of the present moment.

Taking action is often better than waiting. See why:

    * There’s always a way. You can’t control time, but you can control how you use it. Rather than waiting, use your determination and ingenuity to find a way to make the present work for you. Take the opportunities you have and figure out how to bring them to fruition. You can always find a way.

    * Progress is often slow, so get started as soon as possible. It can take a while to build momentum, so it only makes sense to begin building it immediately. Success can take time. How much time do you have? You really don’t know. One thing is for certain: the sooner you get started, the sooner you’ll taste success.

    * You learn more. The sooner you start doing something, the sooner your education begins. You learn nothing from waiting. The more you know, the easier it is to be successful and to enjoy your life.

    * Ignore the excuses. You can always invent an excuse to justify postponing action. Most people do this on a daily basis. Do you want the same results as the average person? A year from now, you’ll still have plenty of excuses, but you won’t be any closer to your goal. Forget the excuses and take action.

    * You’ll be pleased with yourself. Imagine you’re old and at the end of your life. Do you think you’ll regret the things you did, or the opportunities you failed to act upon? You’ll regret your inaction much more than the actions you took. No one wants to die full of regret.

Taking action right now is better than waiting for the perfect moment in the future. That time will never come. Take advantage of today and begin making progress and building momentum.

Begin taking action today with these strategies:

    * Create a plan that you can begin executing immediately. Your plan should include actions that you can take either today or tomorrow at the latest.

    * Consider the likely obstacles. What roadblocks are you likely to run into? What can you do to prepare for them? Do you have any solutions? What resources do you have available to you?

    * Create a reward system. Obviously, you have some resistance to getting started, or you would’ve already gotten started. Encourage yourself to take action by promising yourself a small reward after accomplishing a task or two toward your goal.

    * Be persistent.

  • What Are You Going To Do With Your Life? Warrior Mind Podcast #564

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over some tips to help answer the question, What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?

What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?

Unexpected life changes. Anticipated transitions. Long, sleepless nights. What do these three things have in common? The ability to provoke one of the most haunting questions in the library of human introspective:

“What on earth am I going to do with the rest of my life?”

While I can’t answer this question for anyone other than myself, I can offer those in this position some basic tips on how to ensure that their future turns out as bright as their class valedictorian said it would be.

Take Time To Create A Map

Too often, when faced with a major (or even not so major) life decision, we tend to either take the first decent choice that presents itself or we allow circumstances to choose for us by default – putting off the decision until the inexorable current of life sweeps us past the turning point.

As you can imagine, this is not the best way to get what you want out of life. But the options we are faced with in life can be so wildly divergent, or so deceptively similar, that it is difficult to know which turning to take. Wouldn’t it be great if we had some kind of road map that would help us know which paths to follow and which to pass by?

Below are five questions that everybody should ask themself before starting out on any new path. The answers to these questions should then be used to guide decisions and to direct actions – when a choice comes up, simply compare the various options with your stated desires and choose the option that takes you closer to (or at least moves you the least farthest away from) your destination – your stated goals and desires.

    1. What does success mean to me?

Be very specific. “I want to be rich,” is not an answer – just what does “rich” mean, anyway? Are you thinking of a set number? And if so, why? Or is the term “rich” a substitute for certain freedoms and opportunities that you view as coming only with money – and by limiting them to being accessed only through money, are you missing out on other alternative pathways?

Some more specific alternatives to “I want to be rich,” depending on the individual, might be: “I want to have enough net income to meet my current financial responsibilities without strain, plus have time and money left over for travel,” or “I want to be able to comfortably afford a jet-setting lifestyle in New York City,” or “I want to spend 4 days a week at home with my kids,” etc.

You should try to come up with at least three answers to the question of what success really means to you personally, with each one reflecting a different facet of what you feel makes up a truly successful life. And keep the money issue to just one statement – after all, such things as personal fulfillment, spiritual meaning and other essential needs and values cannot be solved,

  • 7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important: Warrior Mind Podcast #563

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important to achieve peak performance.

7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important

    * To give direction to life* To make sure we are the one choosing the direction of our life — not others, not fate, not the media, etc.* To motivate* To make sure we get what we want from life* To save time* To reduce stress* To give a sense of accomplishment

While it can be fun to live without direction in the short-term, in the long-term human beings are wired to need a purpose and direction. Goals give a sense of direction and purpose to life.

Enjoy this Podcast on 7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important

More on 7 Reasons Goal Setting Is Important

It is often easy to let others set our direction for us. We take a job because family or friends point us in that direction and then we follow the dictates of our bosses. We move in other directions because popular culture or the media tells us to do so. The simple truth is that if we do not set our own goals then we will find it too easy to follow a path set by others. This can lead to stress and unhappiness. We have a greater chance of happiness and fulfillment following our own path and pursuing our own goals.

While goals certainly give our lives direction, they also provide the motivation to get us through difficult times and choices. Perhaps going to college at night while working full-time may be stressful and difficult in the short-term, but in the long run being able to pursue the professional goals we desire will make it worthwhile.

Goals also serve as the destination for what we really want out of life. For some people, goals are measured in money or material goods, while for others’ goals are measured in time or freedom. If we do not have goals outlined that suit our unique perspective on life it is easy to become sidetracked by life and others.

Goals can also help save time. When your “To Do” list becomes too long and your calendar too full, then you can simply compare your goals to the list. What items help you achieve your goal? What items are necessary to your goal? Scratch off the rest as unimportant.

Just as goals save time they also reduce stress because using your goals to focus your life and choices makes it easier to make those choices. Should you take that new position at work? How does it match your goals?

Finally, goals give you a measurable sense of accomplishment. Every goal you achieve, in fact every step you make toward that goal, can give you a boost of energy and momentum to keep going. Each success powers you toward the next level of success.

Now go out and set your goals!

  • Using the Pareto Principle: Warrior Mind Podcast #562

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over how using the Pareto Principle can change your life and lead to peak performance.

How the Pareto Principle Can Change Your Life

In the late 1800’s, Vilfredo Pareto discovered that 20% of the people in Italy owned 80% of the land. This ratio holds true for a variety of phenomena in the world.

For example, 20% of the population holds 80% of the wealth. Fixing the top 20% of the bugs in a software program eliminates 80% of the software crashes.

This idea can be applied to your life very effectively.

Here’s how you can use the Pareto Principle to save time while accomplishing more:

    * Look at your customers. Suppose you are a salesperson, or that you have a small or large business. Just 20% of your customers provide 80% of your revenue. Also, 20% of your customers account for 80% of your complaints.* If you have a customer that is one of the high-complaint and low-revenue customers, you might want to let them go.* On the other hand, a customer that doesn’t require a lot of your time and provides significant revenue should be cherished.

Enjoy this Podcast on How the Pareto Principle Can Change Your Life

More on How the Pareto Principle Can Change Your Life

    * Now take a look at your employees. One fifth of your employees are doing 80% of the work. Do you know which employees fall into this group? Consider taking steps to prevent these employees from leaving.* You might want to think about letting a few of the others go, so you can attempt to hire a few new people that are more like your high performers.* Take a look at your friendships. Which of your friends provide the most support, camaraderie, encouragement, and laughter? You could conceivably eliminate the bottom 80% of your friends and still be doing pretty well. At the very least, consider letting go of the bottom 20% of your so-called friends.* Look for more friends that are similar to your top 20%.* Your exercise routine might be considerably shortened, too. If you’re lifting weights, there are only a few exercises that matter the most. It could be argued that the deadlift, squat, pull ups, bench press, and overhead press are among the most important 20% of weightlifting exercises. Interestingly, a few of these are frequently avoided due to the discomfort involved in performing them.* Examine your own exercise routine and look for ways to make it more effective.* Prioritize your daily tasks. Consider everything you have to do today or this week. The most important 20% deliver four times as much as the other 80%. Unfortunately, the 20% you should focus on are often the tasks you try to avoid.* Most people manage to stay quite busy all day but fail to accomplish much. You can bet these people are avoiding the most important tasks. Do everything you can to finish the tasks that will make the biggest difference.* Streamline your life. You wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time. Just a few activities contribute to most of your happiness or fun. You can eliminate a lot of the excess weight from your life by applying the 80/20 rule to the people, activities, and possessions in your life.

The 80/20 rule can be used in every part of your life. These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg. You can think of many additional ways to apply these principles to your life.

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 6 Questions to Ask About Pursuing Your Dreams.

6 Questions to Ask About Pursuing Your Dreams

What’s your dream? Want to give your vision a jumpstart? Write down your goals and use these questions to speed up delivery of your dream.

    1. What’s your highest priority in this lifetime?

What’s most important for you to experience, explore or embrace this time around? Until you answer this question, your life goals will be off purpose. Unaligned with your inner passion, your intentions will lack the power to attract the people and situations necessary to become a reality.

Get clued into your true joy. What activities did you enjoy as a child? What are your hobbies now? When your goals are aligned with your soul, synchronicity kicks in to guide you to your target.

    2. Is this your dream, or someone else’s?

Are your goals your own choice, or what others think you should strive for? Do you want to look back in your old age and wish you had followed your passion? Will you regret having “played it safe?”

Is it selfish to go after your own dream? What joy can you give to others if you haven’t given it to yourself first?

Enjoy this Podcast on 6 Questions to Ask About Pursuing Your Dreams

More on 6 Questions to Ask About Pursuing Your Dreams

    3. Are you settling for less than?

Are you resigned to accepting less than your full share of love, health and success this lifetime? Have you compromised and sacrificed your dream?

Anything short of living your true passions will never make you happy.

    4. What will you feel like when you reach your dream?

Personal passion fuels a vision. Dive into the thrill and exhilaration of the feeling of living your dream.

A Hawaiian Kahuna once said, “Where your creative attention flows, so flows your life.”

    5. What steps can you take today toward your dream?

Don’t defer your dream. Set up supports and systems around you to instantly translate your intentions into action. Jump on every opportunity that is in line with your purpose and vision.

Are there smaller projects that lead to your larger dream? If the dream is to run a marathon, train for a local fun-run first. And find a way to measure your progress. Track those little wins-by writing in a journal or telling a friend.

    6. Are you telling yourself: “I can’t have my dream?”

Most people don’t believe they can live their dream. Either their belief system has them believing they can’t make a living doing what they love, or they feel they don’t deserve their dream. To avoid the pain of feeling they can’t have their dream, people often keep their dream so buried they can’t remember they ever had a dream.

Everyone has a dream! And everyone is destined to fulfill that purpose. Why wait?

  • Time to Check In On Your Vision: Warrior Mind Podcast #550

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over a few things required to check in on your vision and makes sure it still inspires you.

It’s Time to Check Your Vision

Have you been having trouble achieving a specific goal? Are you allowing other less important things to get in the way of accomplishing what you really want? Then, it’s time to do a VISION check. Just as it is important to get our eyes checked regularly to assure that we will be able to see clearly, it is equally as important to do a VISION check to be certain that our goal is on track.

    Vivid Picture

Have you created a vivid picture in your imagination as to what your completed goal will look, feel, and sound? Have you added lots of sensory detail, paying particular attention to what emotions you will experience when you have achieved your goal? Many people omit this step, or they make a half-hearted attempt at it.

As a result, their completed goal is not real to them, so it becomes very easy to get distracted by day-to-day events. This step takes time and thought which is why many people don’t do it. However, if you don’t have a clear picture in your mind as to what you are trying to accomplish, how will you ever attain it? Developing a clear, vivid picture is critical if you want to achieve your goal.

Enjoy this Podcast on It’s Time to Check Your Vision

More on It’s Time to Check Your Vision

    Inspired

Are you inspired by your goal? Does thinking about it make you smile? If not, then go back to your vivid picture and change it until you are excited about it. Goals take effort. They often require that we change and do things that may be a stretch for us. If the goal isn’t something you really want in the first place, then why bother trying to achieve it?

When you come up with a goal, don’t limit yourself by what you think you can accomplish. Decide what you truly want. Many people have achieved enormous success in their lives because they had big goals. When you are inspired enough by your dream, you will find a way to make it a reality.

    Sustained Belief

Do you have a sustained belief you will achieve your goal? If you don’t expect to accomplish your goal, then you probably won’t. Sometimes it takes extraordinary courage to believe, in the face of all evidence to the contrary, we will be successful. Things go wrong. Problems come up. It is easy to get discouraged. That is the time when you most need to have sustained belief. You can get through the difficult times if you believe you can. People rise to the level of their own beliefs. When you believe you will be successful, then you will achieve success.

    Identify

Do you identify with your goal now even though you have not yet achieved it? We must begin to identify with the person we want to become. Once or twice each day, play the picture of your completed goal in your mind. Live your goal in your imagination and experience all of the wonderful emotions that go with it. As you continue to do this, you will find that your thoughts and behaviors become more aligned with the person you will be when you achieve your goal.

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over a few tips on how to Live the Life You Desire …now!

    Live the Life You Desire

It seems that everything you’ve ever learned is about preparing yourself for a better future. It’s easy to get so caught up in the future that you lose the ability to enjoy the life you’re living right now.

    The Power Of The Present

The first thing you should do to take action toward a better life is to realize the power that the present moment holds. There are different ways you can truly come to this realization, but the most popular and widely accepted method is meditation.

Meditation allows you to clear your mind. It’s refreshing to focus on the present moment when you find the time to sit down and relax without any worries about the past or future.

This personal reflection time will allow you to sort out your inner thoughts. On the flipside, take note of the number of times your mind tries to distract you from the present moment. You’ll be surprised to see just how many times your mind steals the present moment from you, in order to dwell on the past or future.

    Enjoying The Journey

Your journey is all you have. Your goals are important, but it’s the path you take toward your goals that yield many fruits. You must be willing to enjoy your life and live consciously, even if you haven’t yet reached your goals.

If you have a lofty goal, such as becoming a doctor or the CEO of a large company, realize that it will take much planning and years of experience. Once you reach your goal, you may feel fulfilled, but your life mustn’t be unhappy and miserable until you get there!

You can remain happy by concentrating on the present and enjoying the journey. As you make positive progress towards your goal, you’ll know that you’re always one step closer.

    Envisioning Your Future Self

While you should spend a great deal of time enjoying the present moment, you can add to your happiness by envisioning your future self.

Reflect on the feelings associated with the successful completion of your goals. Think about the traits you’ll exhibit when you have the life you desire. Now bring those traits into your present.

If you’re studying to be a doctor, you’re working long days for little or no pay. You’re studying at all hours with little sleep. You might feel almost tortured. That’s not the desired life you dreamt of having!

This is when you should be proud of the steps you’ve taken so far. After all, what you’re learning now will shape your future, so you might as well approach today with joyful gratitude!

Live The Life You Want Now

Whether you maintain complete focus on your ultimate goals or not, it’s important to live the life you desire right now. You don’t know how many days you’ve been allotted on this earth, and you owe it to yourself to make the most of them!

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 10 Self-Mastery Principles for Peak Performance and personal success.

10 Self-Mastery Principles for Success and Peak Performance

Once you understand the items in your psychology that can block personal growth, you can learn how to get past them.

There are some tips for self-mastery to lead to self-actualization and a better mental state.

    1. Accept Resistance

Accepting resistance can bring positive change. It is easy to be down on ourselves and we tend to get in our way.

Feeling guilt or even shave can delay progress and can actually reinforce bad habits.

Self-acceptance and compassion are needed so we can move forward without being too judgmental or critical of ourselves.

You need to change the way you look at your mistakes.

To begin to do so check out the reading The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonical. This guide will help you learn resistance.

    2. Develop a Compelling Vision

A clear vision will help with both growth and development. Without a vision will be aimless.

You need to develop a vision that you want to work towards and something that will keep you inspired.

    3. Long Term Practice and Commitment

A transformation will not happen in an instant. You need to practice it.

No matter what you are working on, anything from developing communication skills to meditating your brain needs time to make new connections and will need repeated practice.

The brain is a big muscle and it takes longer to make changes as a person ages. Repetition is needed on a daily basis.

    4. Expect Some Backsliding

Even when you know this process there will still be some influences.

Backsliding will happen along this road. If you know this it will not be able to discourage you.

You need to learn to accept yourself and have some compassion so it will not stop the progress that you have been making.

    5. Moderation is Key

We often allow excitement to take over our path. We see a change right outside our doors.

In this time of excitement we put a homeostatic response at a high alert.

Self-mastery is not a fast thing, it will take time. In Qigong, you will learn that you need practice with over 70 percent of your mental access. If you put the strain on yourself you are adding tension to your body including the nervous system.

When the body operates at 70 percent you will be able to stay relaxed and avoid getting injured. This same thing applies to other areas of your development.

    6. Look at the Bright Side

If you take yourself or your growth seriously than you will delay your effort.

  • Tactics for Building Momentum: Warrior Mind Podcast #557

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over several tactics for building momentum to achieve personal success.

    Tactics for Building Momentum

It pays to have the power of momentum on your side whether you’re running an Olympic race or just trying to finish your sales report on time. See how the laws of physics can help you reach your goals faster.

You may have heard of Isaac Newton’s Law of Inertia: An object in motion tends to stay in motion. An object at rest tends to stay at rest. That’s also true for people.

Try these 18 techniques to propel yourself towards more success by taking advantage of this law of nature.

    Make a Start

    * Take the first step. The kickoff of any project can be the most challenging stage. Give yourself credit for taking the initiative. You’re on your way to fulfilling your wishes. Even if you make a mistake, you can learn from it.* Begin early. Use your morning hours wisely. Rack up at least one accomplishment before breakfast. You may sort through your emails or do a load of laundry in record time when interruptions are fewer.* Start strong. Generate multiple leads to fill up your pipeline. For example, if one job interview fails to pan out, you’ll have several other applications to follow up on.* Break projects down. Simplify complicated jobs. If you’re renovating your bathroom, draft a budget and ask family and friends to recommend contractors.

Enjoy this Podcast on Tactics for Building Momentum

More on Tactics for Building Momentum

    * Aim for easy wins. Feel like a hero by getting a few simple victories under your belt. It will inspire you to keep striving for more.* Gather facts. Avoid delays due to uncertainty. Conduct the necessary research first. Browse online or ask a librarian for the best resources. Reach out to experts to get their advice.* Identify obstacles. Similarly, anticipating roadblocks helps you to plan around them. For instance, arrange for a colleague to cover your responsibilities before you ask your supervisor for a week off.

    Keep Moving Ahead

    * Clarify your goals. It’s easier to advance when you know where you’re going. Be precise about what you want to achieve.* Establish timelines. Target dates are another important element. Stay on track by deciding to get your taxes done by the end of the month or clean out the garage this weekend.* Hold yourself accountable. Realize that you generate your own energy. Motivation is more reliable when it’s internal.* Build on previous victories. Resist the temptation to rest on your laurels. Get back on the phone immediately after closing one sales call.* Share the glory. Enlist the support of others. You can spur each other on. Momentum is contagious!* Chose meaningful activities. You’re more likely to keep at something when you feel passionate about it. Devote your time to the things you care about.* Tackle irksome tasks promptly. Of course, there’s bound to be grunt work. Wash the dishes immediately and get them out of the way.* Get organized. Build up speed by putting systems in place. You’ll check off routine errands in less time.* Schedule downtime. Allow for rest and relaxation. Play with your children or listen to classical music. You’ll return to work with more energy.* Stay fit. Productivity depends on your physical and mental condition.

  • Now is the Time to Hire a Coach: Warrior Mind Podcast #556

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over why now is the perfect time to hire a coach for personal success.

Now is the Perfect Time to Hire a Coach

The world is in a constant state of change and some of those changes can be good, while others can be bad. It has been a long time since we faced a problem that seems to affect the entire world on equal measure. The COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus, is forcing the entire world to adapt to a serious health threat. This is creating a serious dent in the economy and a large number of people are going to be out of a job in the coming weeks and months.

We only thrive when adversity hits home

Comfort is the biggest reason why people get stuck and fail to achieve extraordinary things. It’s very rare to find a success story that is not accompanied by hardship and struggle. Most people who succeed are often going to be motivated by adversity.

If you find yourself in a situation that allows you to take things easy, you will probably fall into a sense of security. This is going to keep you from engaging in any activity that can help you achieve more than the average person.

The point is that we are often scared of what will happen if we take chances and make decisions that will help us improve our lives, but the coming year is likely to force us to make those decisions, and we have to make the most out of this situation.

Enjoy this Podcast on why this is the perfect time to hire a coach

More on the perfect time to hire a coach

What does a good coach do?

Coaching is about being able to help you clarify and enlarge your vision. A good coach will help you discover your true dreams and establish your goals to make them come true. This requires that the coach is also able to empower you and encourage you to move forward and to break through the barriers that keep you from achieving more.

This means that a coach is going to help you take your life to that higher level that most people never achieve. Just think of how important it is for you to hire a coach right now. We are headed into a very difficult period and people are going to need to adapt to this crisis.

This could be the perfect opportunity for you to start doing what you love. It may be the time for you to start your own business or even quit your job and start doing something completely different with your life.

Uncertain times call for people who are driven to succeed

Sometimes we fail to realize that our mindset is going to determine how far we get in life. A person could read about successful people and self-help topics, but if their mindset is not in tune with their desires, they are never going to take action.

A coach is meant to help you change your mindset and give you clarity. Your perception of life is going to change and your ability to commit to your goals is going to be increased tenfold.
