  • Become a Master of Prioritizing: Warrior Mind Podcast #555

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over how to Become a Master of Prioritizing for personal success.

    Become a Master of Prioritizing

In this life, everybody executes different things to make ends meet. It goes without saying that those activities are different, and you are supposed to deal with them according to their importance and that’s where prioritizing comes in. According to John Archibald Wheeler who is a well-known American theoretical physicist, time is a way of nature that keeps everything from happening at once. With the right techniques to join forces with time, it can be your friend but if you try to overcome time, it will definitely defeat you. Are you wondering why I’m talking about time whereas this article is about prioritizing? Well, prioritizing is all about learning how to spend your time acutely.

In your daily hustles, it is possible that you meet with people who are ever busy and can hardly talk with you as they try to meet deadlines. As much as you are pleased with their commitment, you come to realize that they don’t achieve much, and you ask yourself, how’s that even possible? To be honest, these people have exceptional work ethics but were not taught on how to prioritize their work and they end up delivering low output as they spend most of their time wandering back and forth between tasks.

I’m not sure how you spend your time in your workplace and whether you are caught in interruptions and distractions that affect your output. However, one thing I’m sure about is that during my schooling, I wasn’t taught about prioritizing my work. I had to learn it later of course in a hard way through trial and error, uncountable mistakes, and spent sleepless nights doing a research on the same. And now that I have extensive knowledge about prioritizing, I’m willing to share with you.

What you ought to know about prioritizing

I went through a lot when learning about prioritizing and because I wouldn’t want you to pass through the same, I’ll share with you all you need to know. With these three important key considerations to time management, you can work less and produce more.

Key one: Starting your day by noting all the tasks you need to complete

    Each day is not like any other day and similarly, tasks to complete are different. After taking a warm shower and having your favorite hot drink, write down the tasks you need to complete, either on a notebook or in your Smartphone. The activities might include;

    * To read your emails* To write a project document* To meet your boss for a brief session and updates* To prepare a PowerPoint presentation* To sort out your expenses

Key two: Assort the tasks according to their importance

    It goes without saying that the activities you intend to do have different importance and you should start with the most important to the least important, that is, from the ones that will add value to your work/company to the ones which are not essential but good to finish. Therefore, you should break the activities into MUST DO, SHOULD DO, as well as GOOD TO DO. That being the case, the above tasks can be rearranged as follows;

  • 6 Actions To Achieve Your Goals: Warrior Mind Podcast #552

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over the top 6 actions to achieve your goals.

Top 6 Actions To Achieve Your Goals

If you’re tired of making resolutions and goals that you never accomplish, a new approach may help.

Conventional mindset goals can fall apart for several reasons.Once you’re aware of why this happens, you can prevent it or fix it so you can be on your way to achievement.

Try these techniques to achieve your goals:

    * Pick realistic goals. One of the most frequent issues is that you may pick goals that aren’t realistic.* Perhaps you want to travel around the globe, read hundreds of books, and lose an enormous amount of weight. However, many of these goals are simply not possible any time soon. You may not have the money for travel, you don’t have the time to read, and you can’t lose weight that quickly.* It’s important to make your goals tangible. For example, instead of trying to lose a hundred pounds, focus on losing five pounds at a time.

Enjoy this Podcast on Top 6 Actions To Achieve Your Goals

More on The Top 6 Actions To Achieve Your Goals

    * Break goals into a journey. It’s easy to set a goal, miss it, and get upset. Instead of doing this to yourself with each resolution, try a different way. View your goal as a long-term journey, where each leg of the journey leads up to where you’ll finally arrive.* Create a plan that will get you to that goal. Set milestones and rewards along the way.* Measure your progress. In some cases, you may be close to achieving your goal, but you give up too soon. By measuring your progress, you’ll be able to see what you’re doing more clearly.* You’ll be more motivated to stay on the journey and keep pushing toward your resolution.* Set up a system to track your progress. Try different tools, such as calendars, journals, or logs to keep track of your goals and see which system works best for you.* Ask for help. Sometimes you might fail simply because you don’t ask for help and try to do everything by yourself. Perhaps a little help will bring you success!* It’s normal to need help along your journey. You may need an entire support network behind you to achieve your goal. Turn to friends, family, coworkers, and others for support.* Asking for help can help you achieve your goals faster and make the entire process easier as you work toward your target.* Feel free to adjust goals. You don’t have to stick with an old goal. Sometimes goals need to be changed and modified. You may evolve as a person and realize that your earlier ambitions are no longer relevant.* Your present is constantly affecting your mindset and the way you perceive things. You accumulate knowledge, wisdom, and experience over time that affects your goals.* Stay aware of growth. You will continue to grow even if you don’t reach your goals.* In some cases, failure may be a blessing because it teaches you valuable life lessons you wouldn’t have realized before. Without failure, you may not change enough to grow.* Failure isn’t the end, and you can always set new goals.* It’s more important to grow and become stronger than to reach every goal on your list. Remember, your list will also change, so it won’t look the same as when you started.

Be proactive about your goals! Take effective actions that support you and your goals, and you’ll find that achievement comes much easier.

  • 4 Ways to Build Your Willpower: Warrior Mind Podcast #550

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 4 Ways to Build Your Willpower.

4 Ways to Build Your Willpower

Usually when we hear the word “willpower,” we relate it to losing weight or quitting smoking.Willpower is extremely helpful when trying to break those bad habits, but it can also be beneficial in other areas of your life as well.

It’s important to realize that we’re not born with willpower; it’s something we must nurture and build in ourselves. Once we strengthen our willpower, it’ll provide us an upper hand in achieving our goals. Why? Because we’ll develop an unshakeable focus and intensity in purpose!

So how do you go about building your willpower?

Here are four strategies to get you headed in the right direction:

    * Commitment. You must be committed to reaching your goals. If you’re not completely committed to what you want to accomplish, there’s no way you’ll be able to develop any willpower.

    * To be successful in achieving your goals, you mustn’t harbor any second thoughts, excuses, or doubts. Be honest with yourself and know that this is something you truly want to see through until the end.

    * Remember, just having the desire will not guarantee accomplishment. You can desire something without firm commitment, so be sure to distinguish between the two and take the appropriate actions.

Enjoy this Podcast on 4 Ways to Build Your Willpower

More on 4 Ways to Build Your Willpower

    * Call on your inner strength. Building your willpower takes perseverance. This is a time to call on your inner strength – that extra push you need to get through the difficult times.

    * You’ve made a commitment to take a journey to strengthen your willpower and accomplish your most challenging goals – this is great! The truth is, you’ll have many days of success, but there will also be days that aren’t as triumphant. It’s on those not-so-good days that you can call on your inner strength to get you back on track.

    * Everyone has an inner strength and most of us have used it on more than one occasion. Trust in it and it will get you through the rough spots!

    * Ask for support. Building your willpower to achieve a goal is a large undertaking. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. This is why it’s so imperative that we have support during this time.

    * Entrust a friend, spouse, or parent with what you’re trying to accomplish. That way, when you hit a stumbling block, you have someone you trust to get you back on the right track.

    * Your support system will help you through the hard times and celebrate your successes with you.

    * Be consistent. If you have the willpower to stop smoking for one week, that’s wonderful and should be celebrated. But the only way you’re going to build your willpower is to do whatever it takes to avoid cigarettes today, tomorrow, and forever. Then soon enough you’ll be celebrating two weeks, two months, two years, and then forever!

    * This strategy applies to any goal that you’...

  • 8 Steps to Realizing Your Full Potential: Warrior Mind Podcast #549

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 8 Steps to Realizing Your Full Potential.

8 Steps to Realizing Your Full Potential

Most people look back on their life and wonder what they could have accomplished if they’d only been more decisive and committed. You can avoid that kind of regret by choosing to become the best you can at something. What do you want to master?

Follow this process to be the best you can be:

    * Assess your strengths. Your greatest potential will involve one of more of your strengths. Most strengths can be applied to any endeavor with a focused approach.* The first step is to identify these strengths. What are you better at than nearly everyone you know? What has always been easy for you? What are you best at?* Assess your weaknesses. Do the same with your weaknesses. While weaknesses can, and often should, be strengthened, it’s helpful to avoid them at all costs when it’s time to get busy. Relying on your weaknesses increases the odds of failure.

Enjoy this Podcast on 8 Steps to Realizing Your Full Potential

More on 8 Steps to Realizing Your Full Potential

    * What do you like? It’s not just about effort and skill. It’s about putting in enough time to be successful. That’s easier to do when you enjoy what you’re doing. You might have great potential to be the world’s greatest golfer, but if you can’t stand the game, you’ll never do it. More importantly, you wouldn’t want to anyway.* Think about what you enjoy doing. What activities cause you to lose track of time?* What do you want to accomplish? Now that you know your strengths, weaknesses, and likes, you can decide what you want to master. You can’t do much without making this important decision. Everything going forward depends on this decision. Think carefully.* Consider how you will measure mastery. Is it when you can drive a golf ball 300 yards 9 times out of 10? Play a specific piece of music on the piano? Earn $1 million in a year? How will you know you’ve won?* Avoid distractions. Distractions are the enemy to progress. We all have things we enjoy doing that accomplish nothing other than providing temporary amusement.* Make a list of your favorite distractions. How willing are you to avoid these items? This is a good indicator of your potential for success.* Find a mentor. You can’t reach your ultimate potential without a mentor, coach, advisor, or whatever title you prefer. It can shave years off your learning curve and help you to avoid the mistakes you’re destined to make on your own.* Seek out the best in your field and make contact. At the very least, read books on the topic written by experts. The library can provide you with plenty of mentors.* Make a commitment. Mastery requires commitment. It’s the commitment to develop yourself, overcome obstacles, and to put in the necessary time. It’s the commitment to find a mentor and to avoid those appealing distractions.* Focus on improvement. Seek regular small improvements. Consistent progress is the key to mastery. Mastering anything can take years, or even decades.* If perfection is your daily goal, you’ll be disappointed. Weekly progress is an attainable goal that can keep you going.

Have you ever truly committed yourself to anything? Now can be that time. What interests you? What do you want to know inside and out?

  • Beating Burnout: Warrior Mind Podcast #548

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over ways in beating burnout when you feel you can’t go on.

Beating Burnout When You Feel You Can’t Go On

Everyone feels burned out sooner or later. It’s a challenging thing to manage, since you feel that you’ve already done everything you can do and completely tapped your resources. But it’s likely that you can manage what’s happening in your life. We’re good at making situations seem more challenging than they really are.

There are numerous things you can do to help ease your way through the current turmoil in your life.

Try these techniques to in beating burnout and challenges in your life:

    * Eat well. It’s common to eat garbage or to eat too little when you’re super stressed. This only serves to make things worse. Make a concerted effort to eat nutritiously when life is beating you up. Also, avoid the temptation to overeat. Try to maintain your normal diet.

Enjoy this Podcast on beating burnout

More on ways in beating burnout

    * Sleep. Stress wears out your mind and body. Give yourself the chance to sleep 7-8 eight hours each night, but not 14. Regular, good quality sleep will give you clarity and energy to better deal with your challenges.

    * Determine what you can control. Sometimes life is hard and there’s nothing you can do about it. If you can’t do anything about it, what is the value in worrying? Figure out what you can control and then give those things your attention.* Identify what’s making you feel burned out. Is it just one thing? Or is it a lifestyle that you simply don’t feel you can maintain any longer? Maybe you’re having challenges at home, work, health issues, and financially. Take the time to identify what is causing you the greatest amount of pain and you’ll find your challenge easier to manage.* Stay social. It’s natural to want to isolate yourself, but that might be a mistake. Make time for those you most enjoy spending time with. It can lift your spirits and your outlook on life. Everyone needs to laugh.* Breathe heavy at least once a day. Hit the gym and work up a good sweat. Many of the biochemicals released during stress are reduced by physical exertion. You can get in shape and reduce your stress at the same time.* Disconnect electronically. Your smartphone, TV, and internet are stimulating, but that’s not what you need when you’re feeling burned out. Take a night or an entire weekend off. Read a book or listen to some music. Have dinner with a friend.* Make relaxation part of your schedule. You plan everything else, so plan your relaxation time, too. Even 30 minutes can be meaningful and give you something to look forward to each day.* Remember your past experiences. You’ve been overwhelmed before and survived. It’s likely that things even turned out well. Remember that you’ve dealt with feeling burned out in the past. There’s no reason the same won’t happen again.

Avoid burying your head in the sand when you begin to feel burned out. The current drama in your life won’t last. You’ve successfully dealt with similar feelings before. Taking good care of your body is half the battle. Focus on the things you can control and let go of the rest. Good times are ahead!

  • Learning to Control Your Emotions: Warrior Mind Podcast #547

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over ways to control your emotions so you can experience personal success.

    Learning to Control Your Emotions

Some of us have great control over our emotional responses, and some of us struggle. Doing or saying the wrong thing in the midst of an emotional meltdown could have very negative effects. Say something your boss doesn’t like and you could be out of a job.

Gain control of your emotions with these strategies:

    * Realize that negative emotions simply don’t last. If you’re angry about something right now, you’ll probably be over it by next year, next week, or even by tomorrow. But emotions tend to focus our attention right here and now. We don’t consider the potential long-term consequences that a temporary emotional state can create.

    * Who hasn’t done or said something in the heat of the moment that’s caused great remorse? Your anger, fear, resentment, or other negative emotion will fade quickly enough. Your rash response may not.

Enjoy this Podcast on learning to control your emotions

More on learning to control your emotions

    * Examine your emotions. Learn to notice when you’re getting emotional. When you notice yourself reacting strongly, ask yourself why. Try to label the emotion.

    * Analyze why you’re feeling that particular emotion and then admit it to yourself. This way, you can avoid rationalizing your behavior, which is a nice way of saying “lie to yourself.” If you know the real reason you’re feeling the way you do, you’re more able to do something about it.* Create space. Many of the challenges created by our emotions could be eliminated if we could just take a moment before reacting. Getting upset isn’t something that happens to us. It’s something we do to ourselves, and some of us are very good at it.* Find a role model. Would you take stock tips from a homeless man? Probably not! Learn emotional control from those that maintain their composure regardless of the circumstances.

    * When you find such a person, ask them how they do it. The answers you receive could make all the difference.

    * Find a healthy way to release negative emotions. Our actions can influence our moods. If you’re feeling bored while watching TV, there’s no reason to continue watching TV. Immediately get up and go for a walk. Go to the library and find an interesting book. Call a friend. Exercise is a great way to release energy.

    * You don’t have to passively accept your mood. Go do something else and change it!

    * Try altering your breathing. Many people assume that emotions are entirely psychological, but there is a physical component. Realize that all emotions are ultimately experienced as physical feelings in your body. You’ve just learned to label certain body feelings with names like “anger” and “fear.”

    * The only part of your physiology that can be easily controlled is your breathing. Take a look at how you’re breathing during a strong emotional response and change it.

    * A few ideas you can try are holding your breath for 5 seconds, breathing deeply and slowly for 30 seconds, breathe in slowly and breathe out even more slowly.

  • Self-Mastery is the Ultimate Goal: Warrior Mind Podcast #546

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over why Self-Mastery is the Ultimate Goal and how you can accomplish this.

    Self-Mastery is the Ultimate Goal

What’s standing in the way of you reaching the level of success you desire, enjoying a great relationship, or seeing your abs for the first time? Is the problem that you don’t know enough? No. Is there too much competition? Not even close. The only obstacle is a lack of mastery over yourself.Don’t believe it?

    You will.

Are you in great shape? Do you only eat healthy foods? Why not? Is it because you’re confused about which foods are healthy and which are not? Are you confused about whether it’s better to exercise by running down the block or by sitting on the couch?

    Hardly.

You know enough to make significant changes in your life. Knowledge isn’t the challenge. The challenge is managing yourself and your behaviors.

Haven’t had a date in a year? Are you confused about how to get a date? The key to getting dates is to ask people out. How many people have you asked out in the last week? How many new people have you spoken to in the last week?

Are you able to say the things that need to be said? Are you able to be silent when you know you should? Can you make yourself go to the gym or eat an apple instead of a piece of apple pie?

Enjoy this Podcast on why self-mastery is the ultimate goal

More on why self-mastery is the ultimate goal

Self-mastery is the only goal you need to achieve. From that, you can achieve all your other goals!

Use these strategies to embrace self-mastery:

    * Make a list of the things you should do each day, but aren’t. This list might include things like exercising, playing the piano for 20 minutes, drinking eight glasses of water, paying your bills, flossing, and making social connections.* Make a list of the things you do each day, but shouldn’t. Maybe you stay up too late, watch too much TV, waste time playing video games, smoke, and show up late to work. Think about all the things you do that sacrifice your health, career, finances, social life, and happiness.* Begin by addressing one item from each list. Slowly eliminate one of the negative items and add one of the positive items. Habits are challenging to change, but you’ve developed habits without even trying. Imagine what you can accomplish intentionally.* Have a long-term focus. Negative behaviors have short-term rewards. Eating ice cream or watching TV are rewarding immediately. They can be harmful in the long-term, but they pay off right now.* Adopt a long-term focus and consider the long-term implications of your behavior before you indulge in it. What will it cost you down the road if you don’t change?

    * Realize that your body is the enemy. Why does a person eat a bag of potato chips instead of an orange? He imagines himself eating chips. Then he imagines eating an orange. Then he chooses the one that feels better. But your body is deceiving you. It’s only concerned with safety and reproduction.* It cares little for your longevity or your long-term prospects. Humans seek pleasure, just like any other animal. The advantage humans have over animals is the ability to make decisions and not follow...

  • How to Be More Coachable: Warrior Mind Podcast #545

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over how to be more coachable and why it’s important to your success.

    How To Be More Coachable

Finding a competent and compatible coach is only half the battle. It’s also important to develop your own coachability.

If you’re like most professionals, you probably want to succeed, but you may resist coaching for reasons that you’re not even aware of. However, you can develop skills and qualities that will prepare you to accept guidance and act on it.

Learn how to become more coachable. Use this checklist to find the areas you need to work on so you can have a successful relationship with your coach.

    Communication Skills:

    * Listen closely. Pay attention to what your coach has to say. Look for the truth in any message instead of dismissing their perspective or trying to make excuses. Maintain eye contact and resist any urge to interrupt.

Enjoy this Podcast on how to be more coachable

More on how to be more coachable

    * Ask questions. Ensure you understand what your coach is telling you. Paraphrase their statements in your own words. Clarify any points you’re unsure of and ask for concrete examples.* Take your time. Let yourself absorb information fully. Focus on responding thoughtfully rather than quickly. If a situation stirs up strong feelings, give yourself an opportunity to calm down so you can think clearly.* Welcome feedback. Ask others for input frequently and graciously. It helps to stay in practice and have multiple viewpoints while you’re working with your coach.* Watch your body language. Ensure that your gestures and expressions are friendly and consistent with your words. Coaches are human. It’s easier for them to fully engage with you when they feel respected and appreciated.* Open up. Recognize that there is more than one way to approach the same goals. Consider your coach’s suggestions even when they’re different from your usual methods.

    Other Skills and Qualities:

    * Value learning. Are you excited about adding to your knowledge and stretching your skills? Learning is a mindset that helps you to make sounder decisions and adapt to change. It can also motivate you to persevere through the coaching process.* Set goals. While your coach can help you to reach your goals, you need to be sure that your targets are specific and meaningful for you. Write your goals out and tell others about them so you’ll feel more accountable.* Adjust your expectations. Do you understand the difference between coaching and consulting? A consultant is usually hired to fix a specific issue. A coach works with you to build your strengths so you can achieve the outcomes you desire.* Cultivate gratitude. Thank your coach for the positive impact they make in your life. Putting their insights into action is also an effective way to show them that they’re making a difference.* Be humble. Remember that your coach and anyone you meet has valuable things that they can teach you. Tame your ego so you can create productive relationships and take advantage of rewarding opportunities.* Practice consistently. How can you take what you learn from coaching and use it to make positive changes in your work life? Develop a strategy for enhancing your performance and set specific goals for areas whe...

  • 7 Challenges Facing Men: Warrior Mind Podcast #544

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over 7 challenges facing men today and how to conquer them.

    7 Challenges Facing Men

We arguably live in a patriarchal and hierarchical society. As a result, some people think that men cannot be victims. After all a society which operates this way should be favorable to men. But this is not the case.

Sadly, there are many occasions where men have been defeated by their own vulnerabilities, which often lead to a range of mental health problems, or even worse suicide.

Men Face Obstacles Which They Struggle to Get Past

It’s a myth that men do not face obstacles. As Julie Zeilinger explains: ‘Even with ever-present privilege, men face their own set of destructive barriers that restrict what it means to be a man and how a man can express himself. This is especially true for men who are also members of marginalized groups.’

As a man, when you grapple with overcoming obstacles, you are faced with challenges that seem insurmountable to deal with. One thing you can do – before calling it quits – is to try and shift your perspective. As Harvey Mackay puts it: ‘When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at often change’.

Men Lose Motivation to Go On

One clear example of this is at work:  while women are gradually climbing the ranks, a growing number of men seem to be losing their motivation.

This loss of drive holds men back more often than anything else. It can be very difficult to maintain motivation over long periods of time.

Motivation only lasts so long when we’re focused solely on ourselves. Think about how your mission will help others, and you’ll tap into a fresh surge of motivation.

More on how to the 7 challenges facing men

Men Live Their Lives Stuck on Autopilot

So often, men can find themselves living on autopilot. This means that you are going through the motions of living without really feeling alive – living with very little intention on a daily basis.

The greatest agony in life is often boredom. If you find yourself feeling like you are living a dull life, or feeling disillusioned, you are only existing rather than truly enjoying your life. Chances are that you are stuck in the autopilot mode.

Next time you find yourself doing something that you have done a million times before, why not pause and ask yourself what other options are there? What would someone else consider? Life is full of surprises. We just have to find ways to add color.

It helps to connect with likeminded men at New World Warrior Brotherhood we regular set up events to help men share spaces with other men.

Men Are Scared by Their Own Vulnerability

It’s been an almost universal expectation of that girls become women simply by reaching physical maturity. But it’s not the same with boys: they have to pass a test. They needed to show courage, demonstrate physical prowess or mastery of certain skills.

Essentially, the goal was to prove their competence as providers and protectors. In turn, this rite of passage conferred to men shapes their views of masculinity.
