  • How To Strengthen Your Integrity: Warrior Mind Podcast #532

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be going over some tips to help strengthen your integrity for personal success.

Strengthen Your Integrity With These Easy Tips

Being honest and having strong moral principles isn’t easy. However, life is easier when you live with integrity. Others can trust you, and that trust is useful, even if it isn’t easily earned. Acting with integrity is harder in the short-term, but invaluable down the road. Life steadily gets easier when you act with integrity.

Live life with honesty and integrity:

    * Work on your personal growth. Developing yourself is an effective way to strengthen your integrity. When you grow as a person, you become more comfortable with yourself and feel less need to be inauthentic.* * Be reliable. Be on time, avoid cancelling appointments, and do what you say you’re going to do. If you say that you’ll deliver your report by noon on Friday, ensure that it’s done on time. It’s easy to be reliable if you under-promise. Make promises you know you can keep and you’ll never disappoint anyone.* Be honest with yourself. Before you do or say something, question why you’re doing it. What is your real purpose? Are you being self-serving at the expense of others, or are your motives more honorable? Self-awareness is a primary component of integrity.

More on the Tips to Strengthen Your Integrity

    * Be gentle, but be honest. Do you people believe that you’re an honest person? Do you lie to be comfortable or to pretend that you’re something you’re not? However, honesty isn’t a license to tell a coworker that she’s fat or that her husband looks like a troll.* Live by your values each day. If you’re unaware of your values, now would be a great time to figure them out and list them. Knowing your values makes it easier to make decisions. It also makes your behavior more predictable, which makes others more comfortable. Know your values and live them each day.* Be willing to say no. When you say yes to things you don’t want to do, you’re not demonstrating integrity. You don’t have to take part in every opportunity that’s presented to you. Valuing your time is smart. Be honest and say no when you mean it.* Be more confident. Confident people are comfortable. Comfortable people are better able to act with integrity. A lack of integrity is often a response to discomfort. You’re not comfortable meeting your new girlfriend’s parents, so you fake an alternate appointment. You lack the confidence to give a speech at work, so you stay home “sick.”

    * The more uncomfortable you are each day, the more likely your integrity will be challenged. Confidence and self-esteem are the answer. Work on both each day.

    * Stop doing the things you know you shouldn’t do. Are you stealing pens and post-it notes from work? Stealing your neighbor’s Sunday paper? Not putting a quarter in the kitty at work when you pour yourself a cup of coffee? Stealing napkins from the fast-food restaurant to stock your kitchen? Think about your behavior and adjust accordingly.* Be willing to stand up for something. Most of us have values and opinions, but few are willing to even share them, never mind stand up for them. While others won’t always agree with your stances, they will respect you for having them.

  • 9 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence: Warrior Mind Podcast #531

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be going over 99 Sure-Fire Actions to Boost Your Self-Confidence for personal success.

    9 Sure-Fire Actions to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Life is more enjoyable when you feel confident. It’s also easier to be successful. A lack of confidence can get in the way of your career, relationships, and social life. Low self-confidence can trip you up when you least expect it.

Luckily, your sense of self-confidence is under your control. If you avoid managing it, it will be lower than you deserve.

Your level of self-confidence might seem random, but you can choose to direct it as you see fit.

Increase your self-confidence and feel better about yourself and your future:

    1. Have a small success. It can be mundane, like getting the garage cleaned out. Have an intention and follow through on it. When you intend to do something and accomplish it, you feel more confident.

    2. Let go of the past. You’ve had a few things go wrong in the past, but that has nothing to do with today. Your future is created today. There’s no reason to weigh yourself down with anything that’s happened in the past.

    3. Hit the gym. Go for a run or do 25 pushups. Even a vigorous walk can boost your self-confidence. Break a sweat and you’ll boost your confidence.

More on the 9 Sure-Fire Actions to Boost Your Self-Confidence

    1. Build your social skills. A lack of social skills is a common cause of low self-confidence. Interacting with others is an important activity. When you know that you can do it well, your self-confidence will increase. There are many books and websites created to address this issue.

    2. Hang out with a positive crowd. The people around you affect your mood and outlook on life. Your confidence is affected, too. Create a social group that supports you and maintains a positive attitude.

    3. Tackle a fear. Afraid of spiders? Go to the pet store and ask to hold a tarantula. Fear of heights? Find a building downtown that allows the public to use the observation deck. We make every effort to avoid the things we fear. Rather than hiding, face a fear head-on and notice how confident you feel afterwards. Bravery and self-confidence are cousins.

    4. Make a list of your past successes. You’ve had at least a few. You’ve probably forgotten more than you remember! Take just a minute or two to remember these great successes. You’ll feel more powerful after just 60 seconds.
    • Better yet, make a list and carry it with you. Start with your childhood and move forward in time to the present day. When you’re feeling down, pull out your list and bask in your successes.

    • Do something you’re good at. After a hard day, nothing can boost your confidence like spending some time at an activity you excel at. Make a list of the things you do well and spend some time each day doing one of them. Build this time into your schedule.

    • If possible, create a social event around the activity. Having someone see you do something well is an even bigger boost to your self-confidence.

    • Get out of your head. A lack of confidence is a sign that you’re spending too much time thinking about yourself. Put the focus on others and the current activity. It’s hard to lack confidence if you’re not even thinking about yourself. If you’re alone, spend time doing something that engrosses your attention. You’ll quickly feel better.

Take time each day to enhance your self-confidence. Just a few minutes of effort can change the way you feel about yourself. Everything is easier and more enjoyable when you’re confident in your abilities. Avoid allowing the world to dictate your level of self-confidence. Take control of this important trait.

      • 7 Reasons Why You Must Know Your Purpose: Warrior Mind Podcast #529

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss why you must know your purpose, especially for men, to live a life of fulfillment and meaning.

7 Reasons Why You Must Know Your Purpose

There are so many reasons why it’s important to have a purpose. However, most people have never considered what their purpose is. It can be challenging to establish your purpose if you seem to spend all of your energy just surviving your day to day life. However, knowing your purpose can make life a lot easier!

It’s worth taking the time to discover your purpose and to build your life around that purpose.

Consider these reasons why you might want to know your purpose:

        * Knowing your purpose provides a foundation for making decisions. How will you make a decision that’s right for you if you don’t know your purpose? When your purpose is clear, your options become much easier to evaluate.* Whether your goal is to attend Harvard Law School, run a marathon, or start your own company, knowing your purpose makes the best option for nearly any decision much clearer.* When you know your purpose, you’re more likely to persevere. It’s easy to give up if you’re not committed. Your purpose is the thing that you’re committed to. When those inevitable obstacles pop up, you’ll be in a much better position to overcome them.

Enjoy this Podcast on 7 Reasons Why You Must Know Your Purpose

More on the 7 Reasons Why You Must Know Your Purpose:

        * Life is short. Why go through each day mindlessly wandering around? You have a direction for your life when you have a purpose.* Your purpose might be saving the albino zebras or becoming a horror novelist. It doesn’t matter what your purpose is, but you can live a more meaningful life if you identify it.* Knowing your purpose provides clarity. You know what’s important and what isn’t if your purpose is clear to you. If you’re obsessed with making the PGA Tour, there’s no reason to worry about politics or the fact that your neighbor isn’t mowing his grass. You have bigger fish to fry.* It minimizes distractions. Many of the distractions in your life are the things that interest you, but not enough to be a genuine purpose. It’s the things that you like to dabble in that can be distracting. When you have a real purpose, these semi-serious interests get kicked to the curb.* It all but guarantees success. With greater focus and perseverance, you’re much more likely to be successful. It’s very difficult to be successful at something you feel half-hearted about.* Imagine something that you’re totally committed to achieving. Now, imagine that it’s also very meaningful to you, and it’s also very interesting to you. How likely are you to be successful?* Contrast that with something you’re only mildly interested in that you consider to be rather meaningless. How successful will you be? The difference in your results would be staggering.* It adds to your charisma. Someone with a purpose is much more interesting than someone who is just drifting through life. You’re much more attractive to others when your purpose is clear to you.* Think of someone you know whose life is committed to something. Now think of someone you know who seems lost and inconsequential in the world. Which would you rather be? How would you rather appear to others?

      • 5 Tips to Make Life More Interesting: Warrior Mind Podcast #528

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over the top 5 tips to make life interesting and full of adventure.

5 Tips to Make Life More Interesting

It’s helpful to view life as just a series of tests to be solved. Some of these tests were created by your own choices. Others are the result of randomness.

Either way, the test still has to be taken and passed. It might be a test of your cleverness. Another day, it might be a test of your perseverance. This viewpoint makes life a little more interesting and less threatening.

If you pass the test, great. If you don’t pass the test, that’s fine too. Failing a test highlights what you need to learn to advance further in life.

Consider the advantages of looking at life as a series of interesting tests:

        * It’s just a puzzle to be solved. View the goals and the obstacles in your life as puzzles to be solved. All puzzles have at least one solution. It doesn’t matter if it’s a crossword puzzle, maze, Rubik’s cube, or any other type of puzzle. There is a solution. And, it’s fun to try to figure that solution.* You can view your goals and challenges in the same way. They’re just puzzles with solutions that you have to figure out.* Dealing with this type of puzzle can be just as enjoyable as any other type of puzzle. In fact, it’s ultimately more enjoyable, because your life actually improves when you achieve a goal or overcome an obstacle.* Don’t take it personally. You’re not too hard on yourself if you can’t get the last word or two on a crossword puzzle. You might feel a little frustrated, but you don’t feel like a complete failure.* Treat your life the same way. You might not solve the puzzles in your life immediately, but there’s no reason to take it personally. You just haven’t found the solution yet.

        * The biggest problem is never trying because you’re afraid you’ll fail. This is the same issue. If you don’t take it personally, you’ll never be worried about giving your best ideas your best effort. You’ll just act.

Enjoy this Podcast on 5 tips to make life more interesting.

More on the 5 tips to make life more interesting:

        * Be curious. Instead of thinking, “I want to make a million dollars, but I’ll probably be a failure and look like an idiot,” think, “I wonder what it takes for the average person to make a million dollars. I’m going to find out!”* Have a curiosity for life and its solutions. Be curious about what it takes to become wealthy, lose weight, have a great relationship, or accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish.* Create a plan and see if you’re correct. When you had a test in high school, you prepared for the test, took the test, and then found out if you were correct. As an adult, you formulate a plan, put it into action, and then find out if you’re correct or not.* Master the art of failing. Life is a little trickier than high school, but the basic idea is the same. Your results will teach you what you need to learn. Your results show you how you need to spend your time going forward.* Poor results mean you need to come up with a new idea. Good results suggest that you’re on the right track.* Failure is a very powerful thing if used properly. Master using failure to your advantage and life becomes infinitely easier.

Life doesn’t have to be viewed as a threatening place where your ego is constantly under fire. Just see life as a series of tests, puzzles,

      • Giving Up On Your Dreams: Warrior Mind Podcast #527

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to go over the top 5 excuses for not going after your dreams and crush them once and for all!

Top 5 Excuses for Giving Up On Your Dreams

What are you waiting for? You have plans and aspirations that you’ve been putting off for years. We’re great at putting things off and convincing ourselves that we’ll get them done someday soon. Eventually, we all run out of somedays and our options become more limited. If you’re not enthusiastically pursuing your goals, there’s a reason. And it might not be the reason you think.

Most excuses are actually a form of fear camouflaged as another challenge.

Identify your excuses and take action today:

        * A perceived lack of resources. Perhaps you need additional knowledge, education, money, or time. This is the most common excuse for not taking action. These excuses might be accurate. You might not have enough time. However, it’s up to you to make the time. It’s up to you to find the money you need.

        * A lack of resources can’t stop you if you’re determined. Using the lack of resources as an excuse suggests another underlying issue.* Find a way around your lack of resources. There’s a solution available to you right now if you want to find it.

        * Your belief that you’ll fail. Maybe you’re not afraid of failing, but you anticipate failure. No one would waste their time taking action if they expected a negative outcome. Use every tool at your disposal to change your belief. Try using logic or convince yourself that you’ll give it a try anyway. Meditation, self-hypnosis, and visualization are other possible options.

        * Get expert advice or consider changing your objective to one that’s more believable.

        * Fear. The is the most accurate answer most of the time. Doing something significant involves change, both the change that results from success and the chance necessary to create success.

        * The most effective way to combat fear is to jump in with both feet. The apprehension that results from thinking about taking the first step is more severe than the apprehension that accompanies real action. Once you get started, the fear subsides considerably.* Fear has been around since the beginning of man. It’s not going away, so it’s important to build your ability to manage it.

        * A lack of motivation. Why aren’t you motivated? Is it due to fear or something else? A little success can create motivation. Starting a diet can be challenging, but your motivation grows after you’ve successfully lost 10 pounds.

        * The solution to a lack of motivation is the same as the solution to fear: take the leap. Get started and hang in there until you’ve experienced some success. At that point, you’ll find that your lack of motivation is no longer an issue.

        * The need for perfection. This could be the need to have ideal conditions before getting started or the need to accomplish your goal without experiencing any failure along the way. Perfectionism is just another manifestation of fear masquerading as a socially acceptable excuse.

        * There is no failure,

      • How To Grow Your Inner Strength: Warrior Mind Podcast #526

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 9 ways to grow your inner strength for personal success and fulfillment.

How to Grow Your Inner Strength

Not many people are as emotionally strong as they’d like to be. Our inner strength is frequently the limiting factor in our lives. If we were just a little tougher mentally, we’d be willing to try more, and we’d accomplish more.

Inner strength makes molehills out of mountains. Every obstacle is less likely to be insurmountable if you possess a high degree of inner strength.

It’s not necessary to be born mentally tough. You can develop this quality in yourself.

Grow your inner strength and overcome any obstacle with these techniques:

        * Develop yourself physically. Inner strength is easier to attain if you’re strong in other ways, too.* Develop your body and mind. Suffering through a challenging workout is a great way to build your mind and body at the same time. With a strong mind and body, you become unstoppable.* Develop your ability to focus. To a large extent, inner strength is the ability to focus on what needs to be done regardless of the circumstances. You can’t just decide to focus and suddenly be good at it. You’ve spent a lifetime distracting yourself. It takes time to learn to focus well for extended periods of time.* Keep your attention on whatever you’re doing. When your attention floats away, bring it back. Keep doing that until you’re good at focusing.

Meditation is also a powerful way to learn how to focus. A daily meditation practice is worth considering if you’re serious about increasing your inner strength.

Enjoy this Podcast on How to Grow Your Inner Strength

More on How to Grow Your Inner Strength

        * Make yourself uncomfortable. You can take a cold shower. Stay up all night. Do yard work. Walk up to strangers and start a conversation. Sing in front of your friends. Dye your hair blue and walk around your neighborhood. Dealing with discomfort is an important part of inner strength.* Do hard things. Climb a mountain. Run a marathon. Write an entire book. Go an entire day without speaking. Wake up an hour earlier for the next month. Learn a new language. Memorize 100 digits of Pi.* Decide quickly. Make decisions quickly. It’s weak to postpone making decisions just because you don’t want to take responsibility for your life. Be responsible but make up your mind and own your decisions. Take responsibility for your life.* Take action regularly. It’s not enough to make a decision. You have to do something, too. Avoid falling into the trap of procrastinating or spending too much time learning and planning. Those with inner strength take action.* Remember your past accomplishments. Remind yourself that you’ve accomplished some impressive things. You’ve overcome obstacles. You might remember that you’re tougher than you thought. Relive those past successes and the obstacles you overcame.* Develop an effective attitude. Tough, positive, action-oriented, diligent, committed, aggressive, disciplined. Are these words you would use to describe yourself? What qualities do you think someone with inner strength possesses? Build these qualities in yourself.* Surround yourself with the supportive people. You’re stronger when you surround yourself with strong, supportive people. Negative people will sap your inner strength.

      • 9 Ways to Live an Authentic Life: Warrior Mind Podcast #525

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss 9 Ways to Live a More Authentic Life for fulfillment and meaning.

9 Ways to Live a More Authentic Life

Authenticity is to be true to one’s personality and character. It means you’re willing to show the world who you really are. You’re willing to live the life that you were meant to live. Authenticity is the ability to show your uniqueness to the world.

There are very few authentic people in the world, but you know them when you see them.

We’re naturally drawn to authentic people. We feel comfortable with those that are willing to be themselves.

Use these strategies to live a more authentic life and show the world the real you:

        * Know your values. What’s important to you? Make a list of every quality you think is important for a person to have. Now, put that list in order. What are your five top values? When you know your values, the authentic choice in any situation is more obvious than when you don’t know your values.

        2. Stop doing things you don’t want to do. You still need to pay your bills and take out the trash. However, you don’t have to play on the church softball team, drive your neighbor to the airport, or take care of your cousin’s cat. If something is too disagreeable for you, just say, “No.”

        3. Do what you want to do. You can spend your time how you please. You don’t need a grand excuse or proof that you’re doing something noble on a cosmic level. The fact that you want to do it is a good enough reason. It’s important not to hurt anyone, including yourself, but feel free to play the harmonica, dance in your front yard, or wear white after Labor Day.

Enjoy this Podcast on 9 Ways to Live a More Authentic Life

        4. More on 9 Ways to Live a More Authentic LifeKeep an open mind. When your thinking is very rigid, you limit yourself and prevent your true self from shining through. Preconceived notions are prisons that block you from being authentic. Learn how to experience the world from a variety of perspectives and an open mind.

        5. Trust your intuition. When you ignore your hunches, you feel out-of-sorts. Trust your instincts. They’ll let you know when you’re not being genuine.

        6. Be self-aware. You can’t be authentic if you lack self-awareness. Notice how you feel. Ask yourself, “What do I need at this moment? How can I meet that need?” If you ignore your emotions, you can’t be self-aware.

        7. Practice boldness. The biggest reason for a lack of authenticity is timidity. We want to say and do certain things, but we’re uncomfortable standing out in any way. We feel vulnerable and exposed. A little discomfort never killed anyone, and there’s so much to be gained by being bold. Give it a try.

        8. Openly share your opinion. Tell others what you think or how you feel about something. Of course, you’ll want to be tactful so you remain considerate of the feelings of those around you. Are you hesitant to share your thoughts on a topic? Ask yourself why that is.9. Avoid perfectionism. Trying to be perfect is a huge limitation on your natural personality and expression. Avoiding mistakes and imperfection at all costs is a recipe for inauthenticity.

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the power of having a compelling outcome for personal success!

The Power of a Compelling Outcome

Do you feel that you lack discipline and grit? It’s more likely you’re suffering from a lack of motivation.

When you don’t have a vision for the future that excites and motivates you, it’s very challenging to keep putting in the time and effort necessary to accomplish a big goal. Without a compelling future, each step forward can feel like torture.

You can create a highway to your dreams by having a clear and compelling outcome in mind. Whenever your motivation is lagging, you can return to that picture.

Use these strategies to maintain a compelling outcome and change your life for the better:

        * Have a compelling outcome for every goal. Sit down and make a list of all of your goals. It’s important to have a compelling outcome for each goal. Make your outcome as appealing as possible while still being realistic. Focus on what you will feel and experience when you accomplish that goal.* For example, pretend that you have a goal of losing 25 pounds. What will you experience when you complete that goal? You might imagine looking at yourself in the mirror and admiring your new body.* You might also imagine wearing a smaller size, fitting into clothes you used to wear before you gained weight, and receiving compliments from others. You could also imagine feeling pride that you were able to accomplish this goal.

        * A compelling outcome should include all of your senses. What will you see, hear, feel, smell, and think when you accomplish your goal? What is the air temperature in your surroundings? Who will be there? Fill in every possible detail and it will be more realistic to your brain. Make it a complete experience.* Your compelling outcome will improve over time. You’re unlikely to get it perfect after the first attempt. Keep adding details and changing things around until you find the perfect version.* A compelling outcome should be revisited at least once each day. Be sure to spend a few minutes visualizing this compelling outcome each day. Even better would be two or more times each day. Keep it fresh in your mind.* When you’re feeling stuck, relax, and return to your compelling outcome. Your compelling outcome is a tool to be used whenever necessary. If you’re having a hard time motivating yourself to do something, use your compelling future to provide a boost of motivation.* When faced with decisions in your life, remember your compelling outcomes. It’s much easier to make choices when you remember what you’re trying to accomplish. Imagine that you’re a writer with a goal of writing the world’s greatest novel, and you’re not sure if you should buy House A or House B.* It’s as simple as asking yourself which living situation will make it more likely for you to reach your compelling outcome.* The right decision becomes much clearer when you have a compelling outcome to serve as a guide. When you aren’t clear on what you’re trying to accomplish, how can you make an effective decision?

Compelling outcomes are like a guiding star and a source of motivation that are always available. Our minds work in pictures,

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the 7 steps to personal growth to achieve success and peak performance.

        7 Steps to Personal Growth

Personal growth can help you make your life more enjoyable and fulfilling. However, if you’re broke, overweight, don’t have any friends, and lack goals, where do you begin? The key to beginning a personal growth journey is setting your priorities. There’s a lot you can do in five years, but you can’t do a whole lot in five months.

Spend your early efforts as effectively as possible:

        * Measure your current situation. Think about a typical day in your life. Then think about a typical weekend. Write down whatever comes to mind. A partial list might look like this:

        * Get up for work. I hate getting up this early and I hate my job.* In the shower – thinking about how I can’t pay my electric bill and still go out with my friends this weekend. I don’t like my body.* Driving to work- I love my car* Get home. The dog peed on the carpet.* Watch TV. I don’t really like it, but I don’t have anything else to do.* And so on.

        * Rate each of these experiences. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being perfect, rate each thought. It’s the low-rated parts of your life that are dragging you down. Avoid spending your time on raising a 7 to a 10. It’s the 1s, 2s, and 3s that are wreaking havoc. Until you’ve raised everything up to at least a 5, stick with the lower-rated items on your list.* Create a 10. Let’s suppose your weight is a big issue. You rate it a “2”, because it negatively impacts your confidence and self-esteem. It’s also becoming a health issue. You also believe that it hurts your social life. What is the perfect alternative? Write a little story.

        * I’m on the bathroom scale, and my weight is 170 pounds. This is the perfect weight for me. I look and feel good in my clothes. My doctor is pleased with my cholesterol and blood pressure numbers. Women are starting to notice me again. I have the confidence to ask out Mary for this weekend.* Now you have an objective that clearly addresses a challenging part of your life.

        * Consider the people in your life. If you want to enhance any part of your life, there will be people that attempt to hold you back. They might not do it intentionally, but it will happen. It’s hard to kick your mom out of your life, but many other people are optional.

        * You may need to add people to your life. Perhaps you need a personal trainer or a few friends that have successfully lost weight. A few friends at the gym would be helpful, too.

        * What do you need? A cookbook with healthy recipes? A gym membership? A jump rope? Compare your needs with your current resources. Can you bridge the gap?* Focus on your habits. Your current situation is result of years of less-than-great habits. Better habits provide better outcomes. Make small changes to your daily habits. Then it’s just a matter of being compliant and patient.* Learn how to be uncomfortable. The faster you wish to change, the more discomfort you’ll face. You’ll have to slow down or accept that discomfort is part of the deal. The ability to deal with uncomfortable feelings grows with practice.
