Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by providing an update on the continuation of the overbearing nature of the politicization of sports leagues, particularly within the realm of LGBTQ issues. Dom plays back a rehearsed apology of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass who posted a biblical response to transgenderism on social media, which got him in some hot water. Then, Dom loops to the situation unfolding in Ocean City as mass amounts of teenagers continue to take to the town to drink underage and act out without fear of repercussion from police.
Then, Dom welcomes in local attorney George Bochetto back onto the Dom Gioirdano Program. Bochetto has been a frequent guest on the show as the attorney for The Friends of Marconi Plaza, the group looking to protect South Philadelphia’s Christopher Columbus statue. In 2020, after Philadelphia’s Historical Commission voted for the statue’s removal, Friends of Marconi Plaza filed suit, which caused a plywood box to be erected around the statue, later removed by a court order. All of this has lead Bochetto and The Friends to file a new lawsuit against the City of Philadelphia hoping to hold City officials accountable for repeated overtly aggressive actions taken against the Italian-American community in Philadelphia. Bochetto explains the lawsuit, what he’s asking for, and tells what he hopes results once everything comes to fruition. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)
