After Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, failed in his bid to become speaker of the House, & now a new crop of 9 candidates is jumping into the race. Liz Cheney blamed the ties between ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and former President Trump for the House's disarray as the chamber struggles to elect a new speaker. Conservative Chris Mathys will challenge Rep. David Valadao, R-Hanford, again for his House seat in 2024.
