On today’s episode we cover the sequel of the iconic horror film, Don’t Breathe, aptly named Don’t Breathe 2. We talked about the elephant in the room, how the movie handled it and how we felt about it (spoiler alert: we weren’t the biggest fans of it.) We also dive into the “Don’t Breathe universe” and the future of these movies.

James Wan finally returns to the horror world with Malignant. Upon our first viewing, Malignant was a fun, crazy, and unique horror film that made us feel excitement and energy that we haven’t felt with a horror movie in a while! We were so stoked on it that we had to watch it again, which tells a different story. We truly flew too close to the sun…(lol) Come by and hangout as we talk about our two viewing experiences, the divisive nature of this film and a lot of horror films, and how we feel about James Wan’s horror return.

Shang Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings exhibits Marvel’s first asian superhero, with a mostly asian cast and director. Shang Chi has to be one of Marvel’s best in a WHILE, with its creative action sequences, decent writing, and great character development, Shang Chi is definitely shining right now. Come hang out and listen to Carmela’s great rewrite of one problem of the film.

The follow up to the 1992 Candyman film, comes a resurgence of the Candyman series with this brand new self titled film, Candyman. With a fantastic sense of atmosphere and cinematography, Candyman still has its flaws with its pacing, writing, and it’s lack of reinforcement with certain social issues. Regardless, we still give praise to Nia DaCosta for being the first black female director getting a #1 movie in the box office and bringing back the horror icon that is Tony Todd.

On this new Quick Take, we go back to how we used to record our episodes and totally wing it! We talk about some life updates, current world climate, the most random questions we can think of on the spot, and really, whatever comes to mind. Sam is a spy trying to navigate away from bad guys with a new obstacle in her life. We go into depth on how these Edgar Wright/Drive/Tarantino inspired movies play out, how we feel about them, and how we feel about the gatekeeping of it. We also talk about our fun to bad ratio, at what point do we stop having fun at a bad movie or when a bad movie isn’t fun at all.
