From the same director that brought The Social Network, Fight Club, and Gone Girl, comes David Fincher’s newest film; Mank. Mank is a great film that exhibited David’s love for detail & for old Hollywood. Mank also entices the background disputes that were happening while Herman J. Mankiewicz was writing the movie Citizen Kane, whether it be against the largest newspaper tycoon or even an internal war with the director of Citizen Kane, Orson Welles. Mank is a fantastic insight with what was going on with Hollywood at the time and bringing even further context with Citizen Kane.

Stepping into the time machine, we go back to 1941 and we watch the critically acclaimed, greatest film ever made, Citizen Kane. We go into depth with why it's called “the greatest film ever made” and what that actually “means”. Along with that, we try to put our eyes into the audience in the 1940s and how this movie may be perceived at the time as being so great. Lastly, we talk about the story/production of the actual film that helps support the idea of this film being the greatest film ever made.

In this episode, we talk about the new Mortal Kombat film. With HBOMax’s success with Godzilla v. Kong, comes another success (box office wise) with Mortal Kombat. We get into our history with Mortal Kombat and talk a little bit about the original 1995 film. We also expand on the future of the sequels of the Mortal Kombat, that are most likely going to happen.

Continuing our road to the Oscars, we go into depth on the film, Judas & The Black Messiah. A very energizing, enticing, and inspiring film that focuses on the life of Fred Hampton & The Black Panthers. This film has climbed to the top of our lists of our favorite Oscar nominated movies. We also talk and unwrap our experience with Black History in Western education.

On this episode we talk about HBOmax’s most successful stream release; Godzilla vs Kong. We talked about how this flipped expectations and turned out to be a great movie. We also dive deep into the idea of a Monsterverse and the potential this franchise has.

On this Quick Take we talk about our Family Style Drive-In presented by The Hundreds experience and how we felt about our day being the test run & how we felt about the later days experience. We also dove into the film, North Hollywood’s distribution issues, it being rejected by Sundance, and how much the film should have an opportunity for distribution. Continuing our road to the Oscars, in which we watch and talk about the Best Picture nominees, we talk about the movie Sound of Metal. Sound of Metal is a great film that depicts someone dealing with their sudden deafness & a unique perspective with the Deaf community. We also dive a little bit into how the rest of society views deafness and the one-sided perspective that most of the world sees.

Continuing our journey on the nominees of Best Picture for the Oscars, we take on the film, The Father. An outstanding, but tragic story portraying Dementia. Amazing performance from the legendary Anthony Hopkins & Olivia Colman. This film gives a fantastic perspective on how people with Dementia act and go through their life. Man, this was a rough one, but in the best way possible.

We took the 4 hour trek that is Zack Snyder’s Justice League and honestly, it was kind of worth it! We get into our comparisons with the 2017 film and the amount of potential that Snyder's DCEU had, which has been confirmed by Warner Brothers that they don’t plan on using the universe he set up. We also go into depth on the fumbling of the DC Universe & the upsets that Warner Brothers have caused with this universe.
