On today’s episode we talk about the new Marvel film, Eternals. Hot off winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards, Chloe Zhao tackles a totally different style then what she's used to, a Marvel film. We talk about how she did, how this movie had so many boxes to tick in so little time, its perception as the “worst Marvel movie” and how much of a shadow the Avengers casts over present and future MCU films.

On today’s episode we talk about Edgar Wright’s newest film, Last Night in Soho. Wright tries to add the Horror genre in his movie catalog, but unfortunately, Wright falls short with creating an impactful horror film. We dive deep into what we thought was a misdirection for the story/character development, the overarching flaws in a lot of the scenes, and its wasted potential. Maybe have another go Edgar Wright?

On the final round of Slasher Series, we do the classic slasher/torture porn film; Saw. One of the first mainstream films that exhibited such gruesome and visceral scenes of pain. We deep dive into how this movie is a combination of a slasher and pain film with the idea of torture set pieces and how that connects with most slasher blueprints. We also talk about James Wan and what he’s accomplished after this film.

Dune has been one of the most anticipated movies this year, with an incredible cast, director, and composer; there’s no wonder why this movie is so hyped up. The hype doesn’t come unwarranted with the finished product, Dune is a fantastic world building experience along with amazing sound design and cinematography. Sci-Fi hasn’t felt like this in a while.

In the third round of our Slasher Series, we do the cult classic film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. The film was written by the same writer who wrote Scream, Kevin Williamson. Although it is a fun and campy slasher, we dive deep into the errors that could have pushed this film into iconic status. Come hangout as we talk about this slasher!

Today’s episode we talk about A24’s newest theatrical release, Lamb. A very unique and beautiful film made by Vladimir Johannsson that gets into the theme(s) of family in rural Iceland. In this episode we talk about how we felt about the movie, how the director intended for the movie to be, and how we felt after the movie ended.

In the second round of the Slasher Series, Team Carmela takes it again with the fun anthology slasher, Trick R Treat. Unique in its own right being a playful and bloody anthology of different Halloween tales around one small city. We go into depth of each tale, Sam, and Halloween traditions and tales that were going on when we were kids.

In the first round of the Slasher Series, Team Carmela took it with the slasher classic Halloween (1978). We talk about revisiting these older films with modern eyes, why Halloween is a classic, and the blueprint that this sets for slasher films, whether they may be good or bad.

On this episode, we talk about the new Venom film; Venom: Let There Be Carnage. We talked about the high points of the film, why we had a lot of fun with it, and using what they did best with the first one and amplifying it with this one. However, we also talked about its shortcomings, flaws, and what could’ve done better. Finally, we get into the future of Venom and its films.

On today’s episode we finally talk about the classic film Drive. The film recently turned 10, so we decided to finally get into it. We talk about some of our favorite parts of the film, the things we notice after re-watches, and Nicolas Winding Refn’s films afterwards.
