LGBTIQ+ Conversion Therapy has had a long and controversial history, and incredibly, is still legal in South Australia. It seeks to change or suppress a person's sexual orientation or even their gender identity, which is said to have major impacts on LGBTIQ+ people. All this leads to the question, should this practice be banned? We spoke with Equality Australia CEO Anna Brownabout the practice and why it's so detrimental to the LGBTIQ+ community. Nat Cook from SA Labor also had a chat with us about her push to outlaw the practice.
Meanwhile, it's an issue that you may not have heard about, but it's having an impact on a number of people around Australia. PFAS chemicals have reportedly been used by the Defence Department in its firefighting foam on bases for training, which is reportedly leading to major drops in nearby property prices as well as health concerns. Joshua Aylward from Shine Lawyers gave us the lowdown on a class-action lawsuit coming up against the Department of Defence.
Also on the show, the Coronavirus situation continues to worsen in Victoria, with a few scares for us here in SA too. We take you through the latest on the pandemic with special guests Professor Nikolai Petrovsky and Dr Anne-Lise Chaber, as well as brighten the mood with some Heaps Good News. Listen in!
