So should there be reforms made in this area? What amount of 'force' is appropriate? This week, we spoke with Craig Caldicott, an experienced Defence Lawyer here in Adelaide, along with Adrian Cartland, a Karate instructor with over 25 years' experience, to give us their thoughts.

Meanwhile, Social Media is a major part of our lives. It's a place for interacting with friends, family and strangers, and for some, even doing business. But it's not always the most positive place, and 'doomscrolling' has definitely become a problem for many. So should we be logging off for our own good? We had a chat with Sora Park, Professor of Communications at the University of Canberra to discuss the issue.

In an age where we get to meet people online and offline, women have encountered situations where they may find it difficult to turn someone down. Whether it's on dating apps, in the club or at work, a reluctance to voice discomfort is not uncommon. So even though we’ve seen progress in society, why are women still afraid to say no? Ebonie Sanderson talks about her nightmare Tinder experience, where she was harassed after letting someone know she wasn’t interested. To try and understand what pushes people to lash out after rejection, we talked to professor Christine Beasley about the issue.

There's no doubt South Australia has fared exceptionally well when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. While other states have varying levels of restrictions, we're largely able to go about our lives as normal, despite important safety measures staying in place.

We spoke with the legend herself Professor Nicola Spurrier, the state's Chief Public Health Officer, about SA's effort to battle the Coronavirus, and also how being such a high profile figure in these times has affected her.

A 2020 National Inquiry into sexual harassment in the workplace found Australia’s standing in this area of law was “no longer fit for purpose.” With two in five women and one in four men experiencing harassment at work, the issue has become widespread.

We were joined by the Director of the Working Women’s Centre Abbey Kendall and SRC Women’s Officer Rebecca Etienne to talk about how former Adelaide University Vice-Chancellor Peter Rathjen’s misconduct has shone a light on the institution’s failure to take preventative measures.

Associate Professor Karen O'Connell from the University of Technology, Sydney’s Faculty of Law, also talks to us about how sexual harassment impacts the individuals affected and what workplaces can do to improve the lives of their employees.

Meanwhile, the prospect of a completely cashless economy has been something long discussed, and with digital payments becoming more and more popular, could it become a reality? Professor Steve Worthington from Swinburne University walked us through the details.

With Australia entering a recession and youth unemployment numbers at an all time high, having the right skills for the jobs that are out there is increasingly important. In order to find work you may need to learn new skills or enter into a different industry than you originally planned. *TRIGGER WARNING*  This weeks episode discuss sexual violence. 

Last year Hamzeh Bahrami tied up and raped a 10-year-old girl multiple times in a Blair Athol toilet block. After initially denying the crime Bahrami eventually pleaded guilty. He was recently sentenced and given a jail term of four years with a minimum of three. However, he can be out in as little two years with time served. Bahrami was given a 40% sentence reduction due to pleading guilty within four weeks of his arrest. In light of this case, the State Opposition Leader Peter Malinauskas attempted to pass a private member's bill to lower the sentence reduction clause for serious crimes. We spoke to Mr Malinauskas about the outcome of that bill. 

Wavelength also spoke to Sonya Ryan, founder of the Carly Ryan Foundation about what else needs to be done in regards to our sentencing laws to help protect us from the dangers of sexual predators. 

This week Andrew also had a chat with BDO about the pro's and con's of withdrawing your super early due to financial hardship in the wake of COVID-19.
