Feminist Question Time with speakers from Brazil and UK

Women's Declaration International (WDI) Feminist Question Time is our weekly online webinars. It is attended by a global feminist and activist audience of between 200-300. The main focus is how gender ideology is harming the rights of women and girls. You can see recordings of previous panels on our YouTube Channel. WDI is the leading  global organisation defending women’s sex-based rights against the threats posed by gender identity ideology. There is more information on the website womensdeclaration.com where you will find our Declaration on Women’s Sex-based rights, which has been signed by more 30,000 people from 157 countries and is supported by 418 organisations.

    This week’s speakers:

Isabela Callegari - Brazil - The naturalization of oppression: surrogacy and the postmodern perspective - Surrogacy has been normalized as part of family planning suited to individual desires in contemporary societies. At the same time that there is no public debate on the subject, the practice is increasingly propagated by celebrities in the media and legitimized, within social movements and academia, as a simple work and a path to the conformation of new non-heteronormative family formats. This presentation aims to oppose such a narrative, based on postmodernism and liberalism, to the feminist understanding of surrogacy as a new and brutal oppression of women within the patriarchy.

Bio: Isabela is a mother, economist and activist for women's liberation

Julia Long - UK - A Critique of Gender Critical Feminism

Bio: Julia Long is a lesbian feminist with a background in research and campaigning and against male violence, who is now focused on building women's community, growing veggies and living the revolution now.

Kellie-Jay Keen - UK - On Standing for Women

Bio: Kellie-Jay Keen, aka Posie Parker, is the founder of Standing For Women, a global women’s rights campaign group. She is a woman, a mother of four and a free speech advocate . She first came into the public eye when interviewed under caution by the British Police for speaking out about the transitioning of children on Twitter and is famous for her "adult human female" T shirts. Her YouTube Channel has 53K subscribers and a clip of her quip "I'm not a vet but I know what a dog is" got 25.5m views on Tiktok.

Disclaimer: Women’s Declaration International (WDI) hosts a range of women from all over the world on Feminist Question Time (FQT) and Radical Feminist Perspectives (RFP) and on webinars hosted by country chapters – all have signed our Declaration or have known histories of feminist activism - but beyond that, we do not know their exact views or activism. WDI does not know in detail what they will say on webinars. The views expressed by speakers in these videos are not necessarily those of WDI and we do not necessarily support views or actions that speakers have expressed or engaged in at other times. As well as the position stated in our Declaration on Women’s Sex-based Rights, WDI opposes sexism, racism and anti-semitism. This week’s speakers:
Ilse Jacobsen - Germany - The misrepresentation of scientific facts and promotion of gender ideology by public broadcasting in Germany - Outside of Twitter, gender ideology and self-ID are not discussed in Germany. The topic is rarely adressed by the press, including public broadcasting. If it is covered by the media, however, pieces are commonly one-sided and/or factually incorrect. As part of a small team, we've collected numerous examples from public broadcasting institutions in which (1) scientific facts around sex are misrepresented, including the claim that "sex is a spectrum". (2) Our collection demonstrates a lack of critical thinking around gender ideology, (3) defamation of gender critical voices as "TERFs" and "bigots", and (4) idealization of the transition of children and teenagers. We are convinced that this is driven by ideologues working in public broadcasting and constitutes a breach of the purpose of German public broadcasting, which is to provide factually correct information to the public to facilitate democratic discussions and formation of opinions independent of political agendas.
I'll provide examples of how science and the discussion of gender ideology are misrepresented by public broadcasting, and how we try to tackle this problem.
Bio: Professor for Microbial Immunology; always interested in feminism, trying to tackle bad and misrepresented science in the fight agains gender ideology
April Morrow - USA - Women On The Inside - The activism work Sovereign Women Speak is doing here in Washington State for the women inside WCCW Purdy Prison/How to structure a woman's conference.
Bio: An empath and eco-feminist, April became aware of her calling when very young. Early on, as an ordained minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses she bravely spoke out about the causes of the degradation of our planet, animals, and women, including two driving forces: porn and capitalism. Ten years ago she uncovered the patriarchal lies and found her tribe with radical feminist. April is a life coach, dance teacher, and the center holder of Sovereign Women Speak guiding scores of women to confidence, courage, and sovereignty.
Sheila Jeffreys - UK - Nappy Fetishism
Bio: Sheila Jeffreys writes in the areas of sexual politics, international gender politics, and lesbian & gay politics. She has written 18 books on the history and politics of sexuality. Originally from the UK, Sheila moved to Melbourne in 1991 to take up a position at the University of Melbourne. She retired back to the UK in 2015. She has been actively involved in feminist and lesbian feminist politics, particularly around the issue of sexual violence, since 1973.
