After hearing Dr. Lara talk about how he came to terms with his mortality, Nikki and Priscilla wanted to dive into how to not be consumed by the fear of death. They talk about how living life to the fullest means to be living fearlessly, so you don't want the inevitability of your mortality to keep you from enjoying life. They discuss how we tend to keep topics like death away from our children, but that if we had open discussions with them about it, it may not be as painful and scary of a concept to them as they grow up. Nikki shares how her diagnosis threw her mortality in her face and made her live life scared for a year and a half, but that once she faced it head on, she was able to live fully again. They mention that some fears and feelings are generational, and that a fear of death or loss of control could come from fears passed onto us from our ancestors.

On this episode, Nikki talks to Dr. Cesar Lara about how he has helped his patients heal themselves from the inside out. Dr. Lara shares how after being a family doctor for a while, his mother came to him and told him she just felt terrible and wanted to know if he could prescribe her something to make her feel better. She had diabetes that was being managed by insulin, so he ran her bloodwork to check for problems, and after it came back normal, he thought maybe an antidepressant would help. When the antidepressant didn't work, he began to wonder if her medications were the problem. He managed to get her off all of her medications and she felt wildly better, and Dr. Lara realized he wanted to start helping his patients heal themselves without medications when possible. Now he approaches his patients with a global perspective, considering their emotions and the stories they tell themselves as a way to heal many health issues. He shares how he has developed this approach, and also discusses how we should approach COVID-19.

She explains how her morning routine of working out, meditating and journaling help her stay on a good track of loving herself.
Nikki discusses life lessons she has learned on her journey towards loving herself. She explains the importance of three lessons: listening to your intuition, being okay with asking for help, and knowing what you think about you can bring about. She shares a story from her past that shaped how she thought about herself, making her discredit her intuition and believe that she could only rely on herself and not others, and how challenging that narrative as an adult brought her real happiness.
