It's another double feature this week with a dual Wachowski extravaganza. We chat this week about Rick's Pick, Cloud Atlas (2012) and Lane's Frame, Speed Racer (2008). This episode contains a revelation from Ricky about Cloud Atlas that is SO SHOCKING it will rock you to your core!! Or at the very least you'll put your head in your hands, idk.

We take every divergent path possible in discussing this week's Lane's Frame, The Trial (1962) directed by Orson Welles. Digressions include Ricky's movie poptimism, French feminism, and a short film that makes this episode a sneaky double feature.

In our first double feature episode of Rick's Pic(k)s, we compare two vastly different anime from the same franchise: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Goemon's Blood Spray (2017) directed by Takeshi Koike. Ricky can't stop smacking his desk because he talks with his hands and Lane lives right next to an ambulance depot, so excuse the audial mess but at this point I think you know what you're in for honestly.

Ricky, known misogynist, just can't stop shitting on this week's Lane Frame, All That Heaven Allows (1955) directed by Douglas Sirk. This episode has a lot of bleeps in it because we're messy bitches who live for drama.

Ricky took a gamble on this week's Rick Pick, but it all worked out in the end with Roujin Z (1991) directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo and written by Katsuhiro Otomo (of Akira, as Lane is desperate to point out). Ricky takes the opportunity to flex his anime knowledge and we both express our cynicism toward the future of artificial intelligence. Also I'm not crazy for saying gamergate caused Trump to get elected right?

A somewhat muted discussion of Manhunter (1986) directed by Michael Mann. Digressions include Ricky's love of crime procedurals and Lane ranting about those freaks online who talk about murder while doing their makeup. Bonus: you can hear Ricky's rowdy ass cats in the background all episode. I'll be charitable and just say that we have six cats between the two of us.
