Maligned, misunderstood classic or a correctly discarded misfire? The first movie in our Jesse July miniseries is Observe and Report (2009) directed by Jody Hill, an underseen comedy with an outsized reputation. One HUNDRED movies! This week's wrap on our pride month miniseries includes The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (1972) directed by Rainer Fassbinder and Love Lies Bleeding (2024) directed by Rose Glass. We get into fluffy robes, phone acting, toxic lesbian relationships, fisting, turning into your dad, testosterone (problematic?), fisting again, and, of course, a little game. Happy pride month!

Pride month continues with this week's two pride pics, Brokeback Mountain (2005) directed by Ang Lee and Theater Camp (2023) directed by Nick Lieberman and Molly Gordon. After an extended mishap of losing Ricky's audio while talking about Mario Kart World f0r 20 minutes, we summarize Theater Camp (literal nothing movie) and get into Brokeback for the majority of the runtime. Lane gets Heath Ledger now, Ricky talks about how one of us needs to die for us to have a good podcast, and Christopher confirmed heterosexual.

Continuing in our pride month miniseries, this week's pride pics are The Birdcage (1996) directed by Mike Nichols and All About My Mother (1999) directed by Pedro Almodóvar. After talking about dick humor and keys, we discuss Robin Williams' screen persona, whether All About My Mother is a serious movie, and the timelessness of these themes. Also, a really long tangent about Frankenstein.

One of us vastly prefers one of these movies more than the other, and one of us says "I liked it!" about both of them. Any guesses who is whom? We get into meanness culture, Pee-Wee Herman/Paul Reubens, and the smell of oral sex. Plus: a little game.

McDonald's again?! This week's Rick's Pick is Yi Yi (2000) directed by Edward Yang. After our usual argument about RogueLike DeckBuilders (TM), we discuss this movie's understated performances, gorgeous long takes, and the idea of a movie allowing people to see the perspectives of others. Digressions include how we hate the word "panties" and OH MY GOD A CENTIPEDE IS ATTACKING ME HELP ME PLEASE

This week's Lane's Frame is Battleship Potemkin (1925) directed by Sergei Eisenstein. Hard for two idiots to talk about a one hundred year old movie, but we managed to do it for a whole hour! Just ignore all the digressions about what constitutes a modern movie, Palworld, and Twilight. Also, Ricky's friendship with the KGB ended, Mormonism is Ricky's friend now.

This week's Rick's Pick is The Thief and the Cobbler (1993) directed by Richard Williams. As the movie with the longest-ever time spent in production, we go long talking about the different versions of the film, its gorgeous animation, and completely incomprehensible story. Digressions include bottled water, creative "geniuses", and Aladdin's racism. Warning! We talk about puking a lot in the first twenty minutes of this episode lol.

This week's Lane's Frame is Pride & Prejudice (2005) directed by Joe Wright! A canonical Lane's Frame, this movie charms the pants off of us both, even though I was sick and Ricky was tired during this record so we sound a lot more muted than normal. A shockingly short episode. I can't believe we forgot to talk about the sounds of birds chirping!
