Listeners comment. The Governor of Illinois has issued a State of Emergency for the area surrounding Highland Park following the deadly shooting on July 4th to expedite the use of state resources, personnel and equipment. The 22-year-old-suspect confessed to the shooting and had contemplated another attack in WI before being apprehended. He has been charged with 7 homicides thus far and has pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance.
