Welcome back Weebs! We promised y'all some extra content, extra credit if you will, and we have delivered! We are definitely liking this style, which coincidentally does comply with social distancing in this tough time. We will continue to bring you a new normal length show every Monday and now EXTRA CREDIT episodes every Thursday as well, at least while the world is shut down.
Gleipnir is a new Anime running in the Spring 2020 season. The shows animator is Pine Jam, which is relatively unknown. Their most well known product is the OVA Hozuki's Coolheadedness. This show is WILD bros. I sorta thought the OP sucked and was borderline annoying, with a weird high pitched screech. The show's genre is Mystery, Ecchi, Action, Supernatural, and a Seinin.
The story centers on Shuichi Kagaya, a high school student with an unusual secret. He has the ability to transform into a monster resembling a giant mascot costume complete with a zipper down his back and a large cartoonish smile. After rescuing fellow classmate, Kurea "Claire" Aoki, from a warehouse fire, she sadistically decides to use him to hunt down other monsters in search of her sister. - Wikipedia
Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open the door into it as well, and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion.As the story progresses, the reader gradually explores the lore, history, and motivations of important characters and factions that drive or try to change the fate of the tower, for more than 10,000 years. Mysteries are gradually unveiled and added, as the readers learn about the struggles and triumphs of the inhabitants of the tower. - Wikipedia

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun was originally serialized in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine beginning in 2017 written by Akita Shoten. Iruma-kun gained some traction and the anime adaptation was announced alongside Beastars in February of 2019. Bandai Namco Pictures animated the show for anime consumption, which is available from streaming on Crunchyroll.
Plot
"The story follows Iruma Suzuki, a 14-year-old human boy, who is sold to a demon by his parents. The demon, known as Sullivan, takes Iruma to the Demon World and officially adopts him as his grandson. He enrolls Iruma in the Babyls School for Demons where he is the headmaster, and where Iruma quickly befriends the demons Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac. However, Sullivan tells Iruma to never reveal that he is a human, since he will be eaten if anyone finds out. Iruma then vows to blend in during his time in the Demon World, although he only stands out due to all the situations and adventures that arise." - Wikipedia

Two Guys in a Warehouse PodcastThis week your Weebologists are joined by the Two Guys in a Warehouse podcast to start up another round of Pitches. This week Alex (@Professor_Otaku) and Dylan (@tgwpodcast) pitch is Rage of Bahamut produced by MAPPA, recently did Dororo, from 2014. This adventure fantasy has 12 episodes and a 7.40 on MAL so it definitely appears to be a potential slapper! This show is actually based off a card collection app game which I think is a first for us in the Anime space.
Rising of the Shield hero, originally a light novel, aired in early 2019 in its anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus. Reception was fairly mixed as there are some fairly tough topics in the first couple of episodes but as the series went on it built nicely into a great shonen isekai adventure. Season 1 is 24 episodes and I believe we have been confirmed for a Season 2 of Shield Hero.
Shield Hero currently enjoys a sultry 8.07 on MAL through its freshman season.

To me, this is Ethan, Gon just doesn't feel like the MC there is something holding him back. We talk character motivations, goals, and character growth and how those characteristics shadow a Main Character.
The 2011 Anime release of Hunter X Hunter was produced by Madhouse and became an instant classic. Togashi originally created the Manga in March of 1998. It has been insanely successful, the show is the 8th Best Selling Manga in the history of Shueisha.

53 min - Ep. 41: Pitch or Ditch Redux: Megalo Box and JormungandThis week your favorite professors are revisiting our pitches from episode 36, Megalobox and Jormungand!
Megalo box was is a show from 2018 produced by TMS Entertainment consisting of 13 episodes. TMS has been responsible for some of the best anime in history including Akira, Lupin the third, Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, Case Closed Detective Conan, and of course the number 1 show of 2019 Dr. Stone ;) ! The show follows Junkyard Dog as he makes his way from illegal mech boxing match fixing to the top ranking league in the land. Junkyard is accompanied by a shifty coach old man Nanbu and a young tech genius orphan Sachio. His goal is to win the Megalo boxing championship and beat his rival Yuri.
Jormungand is a show from 2012 animated by White Fox Studio touting 12 episodes for the first season. White Fox has animated some of the most successful shows in the history of Anime including Steins; Gate, Re Zero, Devil is a Part-Timer, and Akame Ga Kill. This show shares a very similar vibe to some of these works also animated by White Fox. Jormungand details the life of Jonah, a child soldier, who works on the personal bodyguard detail of one of the most prolific arms dealers and smugglers Koko Hekmatyar. The only problem is Jonah hates arms dealers because they sell instruments of death. Will Jonah start caring for his new family or will he escape and strike out on his own?

Do we consider Batman Ninja Anime?Batman Ninja was an ambitious project released in 2018, this film watched like a love letter to Japanese culture through the lease of one of the most beloved Western IPs ever! We ask the question does it Anime as an attempt to differentiate whether anime is a style or simply the location the film originates from. This piece was produced by Warner Bros. in conjunction with Kamikaze Douga bringing the DC Comic superstar to the Japanese landscape. We have director Junpei Mizusaki, which has cut his teeth in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe which you can see a lot of influence in this piece. We also had Takashi Okazaki, responsible for character design in Batman Ninja, you may know from being the creator of Afro Samurai. If you are a huge Japanese subtitle fan you will feel extremely nostalgic. There are a ton of voice actors that you will recognize from mega hits like Naruto Shippuden, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Evangelion, Dragonball Super, and many more. There was a ton of art styles exhibited in this film, this was one of the best parts of the film. We think in terms of a Batman movie it was fairly weak but from an Anime perspective it was much better than expected and truly worth the watch!
I (Ethan) was a little low energy this episode so I apologize for that but you know I had some legit points and super props to Ricky for absolutely carrying my drowsy visage.

Coming off an extremely strong season 3 we are picking up with the Karasuno High Crows as they head toward the Spring tournament. The last episode of season 3 had Takeda-sensei gathering the team in the gym and telling Kageyama that he had been selected to the Youth National Development team. We pick up from this scene and continue toward the Spring tournament!
***SPOILER WARNING***
So this season picks up with Kageyama headed off to the Nationals camp and Tsukki being selected to go to first year camp being put on by Shiratorizawa. The notable exception to first years heading off to training camps for Karasuno is Shoyo our Tiny Giant. We follow Shoyo reconciling being left out of both camps and feeling like he will be left behind. Ethan and Ricky talk about the greats and not so greats of this dope season so far!

This season we see an insane amount of growth in many of the characters from season 1 and a bunch of killer additions. Many people are calling Mob Psycho one of their favorite shows of all time and a huge part of that is this season.
