You get beamed up. A tentacled alien hands you a beer, and takes you on a ride around the moon.
If you can get past the intro, where I jammed everything from the cutting room floor, I promise there's some semblance of a song in here. :)
There's some weird things here for me here, alien aside. The drum beat is only a kick for the entire song! Intentionally trying to get more treble. Retro sounds shouldn't mean no high frequencies IMHO. Mix is super lazy though and all over the place. Weird vocal bit is a new thing for me. I tried to make the beat like a heartbeat kinda at one point.
I initially started with the idea to make something super sub-bassy, like Lorn, then wrote this Doom-like synth bass line and failed to get a good guitar-amp style distortion on it... but I just kept rolling with it and seeing where it took me. It's all very late-night-stream-of-consciousness music writing and production here. But that's what I love about Weekly Beats - it teaches you to just accept and keep moving forwards with what you write!
It's great habit for getting stuff done and the act of forcing you through the entire start-to-finish process teaches you more than you would get out of obsessing over little details and never finishing a track. (My HDD is full of those lol, as I'm sure everyone here's is too.)
Next week, maybe I'll write about The One Beer Rule™️ that I have for finishing WB tracks. That is, if the alien brings me back. :)
p.s. bitwig rendering is single-threaded? what year is this???
