Absolute nightmare scenario this week. It was all I could do to get my basic backing track made on the Dirty Wave m8 into my DAW. I was writing a little blues ditty that I have some lyrics for as well.

Basically all of my USB ports and bluetooth adapter seem to be fighting against me, and I need to do some more serious troubleshooting to figure out the issue. I can't have my keyboard, mouse, and audio interface all recognized at the same time right now, which makes it hard to record anything.

Maybe I make this into something new next week...  or maybe I'll have to buy a new computer.  Ugh.

Put my vocals on this one, I'm still fiddling with my vocal chain, but I think it is improving. If I could I would spend longer on getting the vocals perfect, but then I wouldn't have a beat for this week. Anyway, I want to start to put more of my vocals on my tracks cause practice makes perfect right?

This week's scale is Messiaen 5-1 (1-1-4-1-1-4) and the time sig is 19/8. Despite lacking a minor third, it's still overloaded with tritones, so it's going to sound like 80-90% haunted and fairly unsuitable for melodies but you could maybe do it.

Another song born from a prompt from a streamer, this time it's Jag and she wanted "rock". A simple prompt and one I can certainly work with being very metal adjacent.

She's a very nice streamer who you in no way should look too deep into since her art, while very pretty, is not exactly public appeal, if you catch my drift.

As for the song, an easy time making something very satisfying. Thought I'd put the bass in front a little with this. Not a metal kind of thing where the bass is mostly functional, here it carries the melody. The key modulates between D major and D Dorian between sections, so it's somewhat jagged, but also so very smooth rock (I did want to include her name in there).

As the name implies I got to Sunday with very little time so I just jammed on a Game Gear track.

4 channels [3 square + 1 noise]. Using the usual tricks and techniques it's pretty much my house style when left to my own devices (blues-y scale, fast and heavy percussion). Not bad for a little over an hour start to finish!

So I got this new plugin called SketchCassette. Its like a tape saturation thing modeled on cassette tape. I thought,  what if your mastering deck was a crappy cassette player instead of a pristine Revox 2track running at 30ips? So I put it on Reapers main stereo output cuz WB has to be the best place on planet to audition such disregard for conventions.

The world seems anxious,it's just not me. This piece is in 5/4 time-an asymmetrical meter.  I put in an erratic bass line, sometimes in the left hand piano; sometimes in the cello. The bass line, is sort of a heartbeat out of time-- yet sustaining life. The music skids to an abrupt stop on an Ab. The new tempo is slower and the cello tries (as only a cello could) to be of comfort as the soaring violin brings eagle-like assurance. Then we continue in our anxiety as best we can and hope for eagles.
