Kind of a dirge... Played with high speed scrubbing technique I used to use quite a bit. Definitely fun to revisit.

Everything on my walk is randomly blooming and waving around in the breeze.  I love things that grow on their own, regardless of where anyone thinks they should grow.

Collab with my bud maksy!

We swapped M8 bundles on Wednesday and continued working off of what the other had made up to that point. He had recorded some really nice guitar harmonics and made that interesting pattern the piece starts off with. I expanded on that and ended up with this interesting switch between major and minor tonalities. I picked the name because harmonics (and the bell sound I made in FM synth) reminded me of the area Crystal Peak in Hollow Knight.

Another weird one, but that will have to do. Very stream of consciousness.

Title in English this time!

This song started with a very simple idea, that was then sped up 4 times, giving the initial ostinato. Then chords, which I followed like a butterfly leaving the ostinato behind. A few tweaks here and there. A little play with the subdivision. Mixing. And that's a track!

In truth I had two other better songs in the works that I could have finished, but I wanted to give them more time.

It seems like every week I am baffled by the fact that I've been able to write the songs I wrote in the past, and lament at my inability to compose anything. And yet compositions happen. And it can only be me I mean who else? Wow. It's a strange feeling, feeling like every week is the end of my imagination and being proven wrong every time. The brain is a peculiar object.

I picked up tape fiasco 2 and have been having fun deep diving on it. The main sort of glitch sound is the result of running a break through it, bouncing it, and then running it through another couple times. Once I had some interesting character, I chopped it up a bunch and arranged it. Not really the type of stuff I've been making, so feels fun to get outside my comfort zone.

We start the second half of the year in much the same way as we left it, just exploring some new things, finding ways to write the same song again and again, but this felt nice, once it started flowing, it was a tough start though.

One thing I tried was removing a lot of repetition, so while it has quite a chill pace, I tried to make sure each part didn't loop, and went to different chords than I'd usually choose.. in that I think it at least has a feeling of 'leaves you wanting more, but not too sure..

Another quick automatic writing piece this week. Gotta keep things moving along in this heat. Sped up the tempo on my templates a bit and tried to make something dancey

About 20 minutes making patterns (A and B Sections), 10 minutes recording and copying a structure and 15 minutes mixing it down. Total work time about 45 minutes.
