In my ongoing series of "why make it easy when you can make it hard" I decided to learn defMON today. Spent most of the day in trial & error mode and ended up with a short and very basic acid/electro jam. I did manage to figure out quite a lot of defMON details along the way, however.

- Got comfortable with the SID registers

- Figured out the sidTAB table and its timing, primitive filter envelopes, etc

- Observed how janky the timing gets under certain conditions, and how effective some workarounds are (first and foremost avoiding a couple of values in the ADSR)

Anyway, this was great fun! I look forward to jamming more in defMON, and hopefully I'll make something slightly more captivating next time. :P

Programmed and performed on a Commodore 64 Ultimate, recorded live through a Mackie mixer w/built in FX. Slightly mastered in Ableton.

Okay, the heat wave is over but I still feel like moving like a snail, so this slows the heck down.

Didn't have that much fun arranging this one, but the sound design was a nice excercise.

I mixed this only with somewhat crappy headphones, so I guess the mix could be better.

Got some help from the kiddo on the title because I was at a loss - we just got back from a lot of travel, I built this for some lush layered vocals but was far too busy with focusing on family and getting around theme parks to scratch anything out.  Got some really good bones down for the coming weeks and I will be getting back on microphone soon.

Downtempo, lush, counterpoints became the melodies so it works as instrumental I think.  Usually not me MO to keep the chord changes the same throughout but it was just too big and pretty to change.

Some dark grime, all on mobile. I want to explore this further. Feels like it could be a triptych with a chase and a resolution.

Some of ya had me a bit verklempt! <3

Kinda sluggish this week in the productivity dept but managed somefin thanks to quick inspiration from a new free vst called Luch from Molokoinstruments.com

It has some interesting bell like sounds as well as some soft pads (which started the main chord progression). Apparently the instrument is based off a children's metallophone. :o Ooooh.

Other pads are from Zebra, Hive and Surge XT.  Piano and Epiano are from the Roland RD700 GX and Cherry Audio's CR-78 for da beat.

For the 4th of July I made a track that had a chord movement of a 4th, a sus4 chord, and also it's extremely noisy just like fireworks. It was also really easy to make cause I had no time for anything else okay byyyeeeeeee~*
