  • Week 27 - Cakes - Island Solstice
It was a short week with the US holiday. I went out of town which only left time for a short track. Happy 250th birthday to the United States of America.
This is another 8 bar loop I knocked out in MPC then ported to Logic for some sequencing, etc. I drew from an Ibiza sounding kit for this slow house thing. The pianos are part of the MPC kit. I ended up not liking the MPC bass I played so I put something else together with Analog Lab.

  • Week 27 - .exe - Changes
Well, it's been a while. I had life happen.
I'm working on my process for making music so it's a good excuse to start again. Not sure if I'll continue right away because I have other musical commitments that might take longer than a week.

  • Week 27 - Jazzaria - All the Things to Say
Journeys through familiar places can proceed in strange ways. It is difficult to capture how, as we either fall back on tropes or into noise. Despite the distance between these extremes, their bounding lines are thin - porous.
    Featuring clarinet.

  • Week 27 - electronic_tiger - A Gate Opens Up | Melancholic Rhythmic Noise
Melancholic rhythmic noise. Distorted beats and distant pads. I ran out of time on my original idea for this week. So at the last moment I abandoned that one, and polished up this older track instead. Which feels like playing a joker card. But I'd rather miss a week than upload a half-baked idea. That's just my personal standard. Obviously I'd much rather not miss a week at all. So I'm okay with this work around.
Any and all feedback is welcome!

  • Week 27 - Crash Overture - Electroplankton 10 - a little whimsy
This one was done in all marine-piano. I really hadn't played with that mode yet, and it was fun to discover all the different layers and movements.
I used audicity to create layers of the different tunes. I would have liked to cut it up a bit more and do some more arranging, but I'm getting kicked out of the house for showings again.
I also tried adding strings, but it added suspense which I didn't want. And then flute, but it was competing too much with everything else.
I kinda like whimsy. Very magical
Also could have managed my time better... which I did not. I got back into raiding (or whatever they call it in FFXIV), haven't done that in like 15+ years. Now there are stats that score your performance. 100 being the best you can be, the gold standard.... I scored an epic 7, with my best performance at 36/100... I was embarassed, because I use to be really good. And so I spent wayyyyyy too much time improving, training, re-educating myself. Which is a dangerous place for me, because I use to be a World of Warcraft addict, but I did manage to get a rating of 99/100. But no, I can't using all my time gaming. It makes me so depressed. I am pleased with my improvement, but no no, too much time. Not doing that again. I will continue to play on the team, but back to very limited hours for my own sanity. No one on the team asked me to get better, I just went out and played like a mad person because that's what I would have done 15+ years ago, and why I've avoid team stuff for years.

  • Week 27 - tarsiidea - Stanley Goes To Work
All the humans are gone, yet left behind are confused robots trying to carry out their daily lives, just as humans did. Stanley is off to work this morning, and bops along to this tune as he strolls into the office. When he arrives he's craving a coffee, so slams one down. But the hot liquid fries his circuits, sending him haywire on the floor. With a jolt he resets, and continues on his way to start the work day.
