Let's do some more SpeedWhistle.

Needed some cover art, and wasn’t sure what to use. So, going with the theme, more ren fare pics! This is from the end of the day at Bristol - the festivities end when the Black Death takes to the streets.

I ended up losing pretty much all my time for music this week - family visits, and then stayed way late at work on Friday (which was going to be my start time). Then I lost Saturday morning. I was out of town all day Sunday, so Saturday evening was it.

And then things STILL didn’t start easily. I took three cracks at a song that didn’t really go anywhere. Stopped for a while to go out and pick up food - while I was out, got a line in my head for some more SpeedWhistle, recorder and metal. I’ve been playing with Amp Locker lately and getting some new tones, and reinstalled Steven Slate drums for the first time in years. Ok, let’s get something made.

Was sort of thinking like Hangar 18 and starting full tilt right away. Went with the black metal sound I’ve used before on mandolin, and just built from there. Added some orchestral sounds to continue to fill things out, and a few synth sounds for more texture. Ended up spending about four hours all told.

This is also the proper intro of the new recorder that I first used in week 26. Plastic recorders are just fine, but there's a mellowness to wood that I just love. Someday a wooden tenor recorder will find its way to me.

I had some title ideas that I wasn't entirely happy with, so I asked Dr Frog what she would call it. She considers for a second and says, "Death Head Fairies." I immediately as, "WHAT IS THAT." She responds, "You asked for a title!". Yes, yes I did. We're using that!

Not exactly a great mix on this, and there’s some things I would have liked to do to expand on it. Is it a fantastic track? No. But it exists! And that's enough for the week.

On to week 32! Looking forward to everyone's posts - the quality of music this year continues to blow me away.

The (aerial) firefighting season in Spain is being hectic. We are working 22 days straight every month, with usually just 4 day pauses, so you basically spent the first day sleeping and the half of the last day travelling to your destination to be back on duty.

I made this on Wednesday. Cool thing is that I brought back some older control surfaces I thought were useless with Ableton, yet they just need new firmware and scripts.

Poor dub efforts this week. Nothing special.

Hope to be back in the land of the living soon :)
