This track is part of an ongoing series started from week 4, you can listen to the Through the Year mix (WB #4-31) (as of week 31, it is 53 minutes long).

This week, we started another cycle, the third one, for the unofficial WB friendly sample challenge (details on discord): sample gather-hunting.

Since there was no new-new sample to use but yet plenty of stones left unturned in the previous editions, I dug up a few more and tried to make something with it, alas to no avail.

Three unsuccessful attempts, not liking anything (you can still see the WIPs in the bundle, there will be additional samples not listed as they are not in the final render), I started from scratch and whipped up a few drum breaks (yet another one from MUZZ's Drum & Bass Essentials and the Think break).

This track isn't quite satisfactory to me and far from the bangers that have been the previous four, but that's to be expected, inspiration and mindfulness isn't something you can just turn on.

Still, I'm so grateful for all of these opportunity the community offers, be it sample contributors, commentators, weeklymeets participants or just simple listeners, it has been an amazing year, worth any second of mediocre music I've done. 🙏

Just felt like making a DNB track today, and got to indulge and spend a bit more time than usual polishing up the beat! Ahhh, time - What a luxury lol. Got to play with some wobbly sounds too. I put a pitch bend in one of the bass tracks too, which was fun. The whole melody isn't super inspired... let's call it... functional? It's just there to counter the wobbles :)

I've been mixing in a noisy environment with open-ear headphones and so my last few mixes have been pretty bad. I got the noise a little more under control this week so I'm hoping this one is better, though I forgot my good headphones at work and my studio monitors are still in storage, so I'm mixing on Portapros lol (which are my favourite headphones still IMHO! you just gotta learn to compensate for their frequency response).

Anyways, enjoy the wobbles! :)

P.S. there's only 1 Reese in here lol but once I had the idea for this track name, I couldn't shake it.

As in Hook. I watched the movie tonight with my kids and it was so cool to watch it with them, after all this time! It was one of my favorite movie when I was a kid. Bangarang!

Sticking with the (mostly) acoustic for now - still enjoying a different, more live approach to recording - focusing on energy within a take, rather than spending more time fixing and editing in post.

A quick mix and master job as its Sunday @11.13pm! the main idea of the song is there and I am happy with the overall feel of the track - some areas could be more polished, but I've only had two sessions - including tonight - to sit and spend on this.

A short ambient track for this week. Originally I was going to call it 2 AM but I wanted to save that name in case one day I wrote something that really sounded like 2 AM...so I randomly chose a different time XD

I experimented a little more with the Lumen instrument for Soundbox; it's my go-to instrument for ambient and I love the sounds it makes but I spend a fair amount of time trying to wrangle it into submission to do what I want it to do. But I discovered that it has a lot more features than I've been using, so hopefully I can continue to learn how to use it to its full potential.
