For this one I was going for something similar to Pink Pantheress, since the artist I’m producing for wants some fun dance music, listening to it I also hear some for sure sonic adventure influence.

Exploring some more sounds with the various chips' noise channels, pretty much the same as last time but switching out the Game Gear instead of the SMS for very slight improvements. Took a while to figure out what I was going for until the bassline started to tie things together into some kind of blues-y track.

I was out of town with only my work laptop and missed last week. Bummer.

However! in years past, I took missing one week as complete failure and stopped the challenge altogether. This time, I  am going to just try carrying on.

I have decided to really focus on finishing my silly LSDJ + heavy sample usage and weird vocals loaded onto the ROM album, and focused on this track this week. It was a little 50 second 1xLSDJ thing, but now it's longer and two gameboys and I think I'm pretty happy with it overall. I think it needs a few tweaks and a proper recording.

(This is a quick hardware recording with both gameboys summed to one stereo track, recorded at the same time, so the audio quality could definitely be better. When I record it for the album I will record the two gameboy parts separately at least, or more likely record WAV channels individually and pulse/noise channels together. So probably 4 stereo tracks for the final...maybe. ha.)

Resurrected an old project sketch and finished it! 100% M8 techno track

Started with a bit of a Sega Megadrive inspired beat with pure chiptune samples, then started remixing other samples to LoFi-Mat / BitCrush bits, and I ended up having so much fun I even started recording samples left and right, pulled up old chiptune folders I got from libraries of ChipShop Deluxe or even rare samples found by Erik Suhrke (Phlogiston) and Alex / Lexi Mauer.

Mixed it in with some MoonBoy, CRWTH, and Eli Derp bits and pieces, mixed them up with some beat breaks and chops of my own, and even got to record the neighbors across the street playing Banjo with some video gamey birds and waves for the come down.

-Warning!- Mid beat there's loud screamy alien sounds. Be prepared for your ears!

Crazy busy week this week, so I'm cheating a lil bit. This is a low-effort take on a song I did last year that I really like, where the TEO-5 provided that rhythmic pad-ish sound that is like 99% of what makes that song cool. That song was called End, so I thought a reworking of it would be fun to call Ouroboros, and I'd actually like to come back to this song again at some point in the future.

I leaned into trying to make this one a bit more rhythmic and synthwave, and I ran out of time so it's mostly just a few looping parts, but it's still kind of fun. I basically kept some of the ideas of the parts and chopped up the sample of that TEO-5 patch and added in some different bass and synth/lead parts, with some punchier percussion. This was an unexpected week. About twice as many things as usual took up my time and despite having two "completely different" tracks on the go, I just ran out of time to finish them properly. But there is a beauty in music and it's spontaneity, sometimes, and a little desperation, and here we go.

This is a bit of an epilogue for Titan City Nights - not something I planned - but I think it works. It's a solo performance on the Moog Grandmother, featuring ambient delightfulness courtesy of Red Means Recording's Loop Forest patch on the Zoia. Recorded 2-3 takes, sliced them up in DAW, glued it all together with a little reverb and magic. There is even an "after-the-end-credits" teaser at the end for the next ambient project.

That being said, we're not jumping back into more ambient right away. Next week will be And Now For Something Completely Different courtesy of some acid trance/techno and that'll be a theme for a few weeks at least while I rework my live setup for new things.
