  • Week 17 - A-Cow - Sayonara
Possibly going to sign off for WB26 with this hardware jam. It's been a great 17 weeks, but I reckon I've probably now got enough material to go back and starting editing and refining this year's tracks into something - possibly a release or mix. But realistically I probably can't do both that and keep up the pace of Weekly Beats - so going to grant myself permission to break the chain!
    Thanks for listening!

  • Week 17 - Jazzaria - The Time We Have
It's easy to unfocus - it only takes a moment. That moment can stretch and blur and become something else. Yet there's more to all this than just being along for the ride. The capacity to experience is an unparalleled wealth.
    Featuring piano.

  • Week 17 - djdiskmachine - ICan'tEven
LSDJ tune. Fast and energetic, heavy use of wav channel for samples and bass/kick.
Loosely inspired by an older track, this is made with a completely different vibe.
From my upcoming album 'Pure Soy Cuck Material', inspired by comments I've received on my work throughout the years.

  • Week 17 - theagainagain - Playoff Basketball
This week was insanely hectic for me. I was on call for my day job this week, and that adds a lot of extra cognitive load to my day. When I got off work, all I wanted to do was watch basketball. My favorite team made it to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years, and I'm HYPED about that, plus the other series' in the playoffs have been a lot of fun to watch too. I also have a band project that's starting to get going. That all really cut into the time I normally allot to weekly beats. That said, this project has been super good for my growth as a musician, and so I'm committed to making it happen.
I feel like this week's submission is more of a start to an idea, rather than a fully fleshed out one, but I do like the bass groove I have going. I might try continuing to develop the idea further in the future. I'm sort of hitting a wall on the drums in my songs right now. I feel like they are too loopy for my taste. My bass playing is really progressing, but I can't say the same is true for the drum programming I'm doing. Maybe I need to change up my approach. I've watched some videos on DnB and Jungle drum programming recently, and maybe I need to dig into doing that. I also have an urge to figure out how to get some more natural sounding drums in the mix. IDK, I'm probably being too hard on myself. I like the track.

  • Week 17 - 4ntler - Under the Stanky Paratha
Some stanky, futuristic city theme. Inspired by the greats such as Under the Rotting Pizza or Delling City. Stock up on some ammo!
Short track, lotta min9 and Dom #5 b9 harmonies. Been busy renovating the house.
Also, I had paratha this week. Paratha is nice!

  • Week 17 - SQF - looking back - W17
    Happy week 17!
m8 track, haven't felt inspired to sit at a desk lately to make music, and as you all know, I love the m8.
I started out crawling my sample libraries and ended up in my own project stems picking random tracks, chopping them different ways to see if anything stuck. You may recognize pieces parts from 2024 WB, lots of sub37 samples.
Once things started to fall into place I couldn't put it down!
This statement comes with a healthy does of recency bias but this is one of my favorites of the year.
The beat is groovin and the arrangement takes some nice turns.
Overall this one left me with a reflective kind of feeling. Artemis is still fresh in my mind so I could imagine looking back at earth from the moon with this playing in my headphones.
Mixed/eq'd direct in the m8, some added compression level setting in garageband
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  • Week 17 - skkmkk - Tyyssija
"DAW" of choice this time was Dirtywave M8
Bunch of samples, shorter and longer ones. Mangled, sidechained some, kept it as easy as possible.
    Laidback electronica, 85 bpm.
Arrangement and structure was a breeze, as it usually is with M8, but the post prosessing with Reaper was second guessing 'til the end. I wanted it to sound muffled and cassette style hiss, but didn't want to loose the oomph too much.
'Tyyssija' is a Finnish word that means some kind of a haven or sanctuary.
